  1. Good point, you can replace the backlighting with LED strips, the needles can be repaired with conductive paint.
  2. I popped out in my Celsior today, got an idiot behind me so booted it, never experienced that VVTI system kicking in before to reveal that pure V8 scream. I need a tunnel now 😀
  3. Personally I would get a full brake check done before assuming you need new pads and discs, it could be something as simple as a bit of grit or stone stuck in the brakes, seized calliper pins are rife on any Lexus model as they are not serviced I.e. regreased. Any other problems like poor brake performance or juddering on the steering wheel when applying the brakes?
  4. Hi and welcome to the LOC. There are companies that can repair plastic bumpers, basically they reinforce with wire and plastic weld them before prepping for paint. Also take into account there may unseen damage behind the bumper cover like brackets and clips. Enquire at some of your local body shops and get a few quotes. There are no prices listed on the Lexus parts website for a brand new bumper cover but I would estimate between £300-500. 2013 was also a model change year and there are several types dependent on features like sonar sensors if fitted. It may also be worth checking on the likes of eBay for one being broken with a good cover in the same colour which should be substantially cheaper than a new one. example https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333875754105?hash=item4dbc8bb479:g:qfgAAOSwm2JgGEPI How did it happen, I can see you have reversing sensors fitted?
  5. Another way of removing the stuck pin is to remove the calliper bracket, drill a hole in the blind end, use a punch to knock out the pin then plug the hole you made.
  6. But do they still do the complimentary coffee, cans of pop and almond biscuits, If Lexus Derby Close their showroom and this facility is also withdrawn when I need an oil filter and washer that will be the end of a beautiful relationship.😀
  7. Wow you are lucky, maybe the low engine speed saved you there. I remember my brother buying a secondhand Ford Escort diesel and told him to make sure the cam belt had been replaced before buying it. A new belt was fitted and I then told him to have it replaced every 40,000 miles. A couple of months later he mentioned that the belt had again been replaced, “ You’ve clocked up 40,000 miles in a few months?”.......”No just 4000 miles”
  8. Is this one still owned by a club member? Only one I have ever driven.
  9. They are fitted to the Japanese spec cars but not UK spec as far as I know, mine is a 2003 Celsior ( LS430) and has the cornering lights which illuminate when the corresponding side indicator is flashing at night.
  10. You would have thought that being a Lexus there would be a Sergeant Wilson voiced announcement “Excuse me but this Lexus is reversing, please stand clear” 😀 Mine has a Japanese lady telling me that my ETS card has expired for the toll roads every time I start it.
  11. If the steering lock has engaged which it sounds like it has you will need to turn the steering wheel slightly and hold it there to reduce the pressure on the locking pin when trying to turn the key. Or just jiggle the wheel slightly when trying to turn the key, the lock should then release as the key turns. I also noticed you have asked the same question on this and 2 other posts 4 hours ago, here in the UK that was at 3.00am so you were very unlikely to get a response at that time.
  12. Hi Matthew and welcome to the LOC. Even better is you come in with your first post and it’s great information (usually a question) Could you not perhaps mount a PC fan, ignition fed, in the cover to get some constant airflow when driving?
  13. You need a 95-97 model year, there are a few being broken on eBay and check out the link below.
  14. Could be just one broken spring, one of my rears broke and the back end went down to nearly tyres on arches both sides.
  15. Don’t forget you will also need a jack and wheel brace at a minimum.
  16. Hello Colin and welcome to the LOC. My only experience with Skoda was an Estelle 120 ( I think) in the 1980s, blew the head gasket within 10 miles and scrapped the same day. They do make some decent cars now though. Enjoy the UX 😀
  17. At one time it was simply a case of taking the slack out of the throttle cable and turbos that had a lag 😀
  18. Just to clarify....have you replaced just the rear suspension with coil spring/strut suspension and left the front on air?
  19. Good result with the dealer😀 My coin tray latch broke again recently after an apparent DIY semi successful plastic welding repair, fortunately I had a spare because at 27 years old I may have struggled somewhat with a warranty claim. 😀
  20. You wouldn’t have thought that an electronic throttle control would suffer from a delay in pedal input with the signals travelling at such a high speed. I can understand it with a mechanical set up with slack in the cable and play in joints but when you see quotes like “ the engine performance is monitored a million times a second” how! Just wonder if the delay is safety related so the car performance doesn’t exceed brain performance, I always remember my brother’s Corvette Stingray, overtaking in a LHD car took some planning, far enough back to see around the car in front then a synchronised steer and plant the right foot to avoid driving into the back of the car you were overtaking before going around it.
  21. Unfortunately my knowledge of Lexus delivery times is zero, I would ring a couple of local dealers but I doubt you’ll get a date in writing.
  22. You already have a thread open Alan asking this question.
  23. If you have a spark at the plugs have you got fuel reaching the cylinders? Get some “Easystart” and spray it into the air box while someone cranks the engine ( be careful of back fires!) If the engine then runs you have a fuel delivery problem.
  24. A failing starter motor is not normally associated with humidity as the cause is generally worn out copper contacts and the solenoid plunger so electrical. It may be worth checking your battery leads and connections for tightness and also both earth leads to the inner wing (just behind the battery position) and main engine earth.....you may be lucky! If not it’s an expensive labour intensive job, I did my own which took a good 8 hours and was back breaking. It is also advisable to replace all the gaskets removed.
