Yep the ECU will flag an open circuit heater fault if it is not fitted, you could try fitting a 12 ohm resistor across the heater pins to trick the ECU.

Hi Gareth, I have attached the IS200 Engine ECU pin out which shows the connections for both O2 sensors if this helps. You can also buy ( or even make) O2 emulators which produce the correct waveform to trick the ECU both are still connected.

The window appears to be bonded like most these days and Lexus appear to be aware of a quality issue, if we were in the USA no doubt Lexus would be sending letters to affected owners inviting a free repair but here in the UK not a chance. Good idea contacting Lexus UK they may offer a goodwill gesture. Just a thought would a repair be covered under the windscreen glass policy on fully comp insurance?

Hi Kevin and welcome to the LOC. Being a diesel it would eliminate any ignition related cause usually associated with petrol engines. Difficult to accurately diagnose also but a visual check of any wiring, plugs and sensors that may have got soaked may be a starting point. Also check the air filter as water may have been sucked in there. Finally perhaps get the engine bay dried out with a hairdryer of small electric fan heater ( don’t leave it unattended).

Dangerous is the first word, probably forced on then used “wobble nuts” to get them bolted up to the hub, obviously an MOT failure with just 4 nuts fitted so straight insurance accident rejection. Another method is to use hub adaptors which bolt onto the hub with the correct 114.3 PCD and the wheel studs are at 120 to enable the wheels to fit correctly but again iffy. The wheel bore on Lexus IS generally 60.1mm (the size of the hole in the middle of the wheel which fits over the hub centre). If the BMW wheels have a larger bore you can fit spigot rings to reduce it to the correct diameter but I doubt this is the case with this car. Finally Lexus used a particular type of wheel nut which run parallel through the hole, other manufacturers use “tapered” nuts, using the wrong type can cause serious damage including the wheel coming off!

These guys have been used by many members, if you don’t fancy doing a rebuild yourself the cost for a fully rebuilt set seems quite reasonable. I fitted mine from the old Celsior the other day in the new Celsior. I already had the power supply (12Vdc to 5Vdc 1.5A USB) and fortunately managed to find a ignition switched 12V source within the overhead lighting/ ETC panel to tap onto and enough space to tuck it away in the roof void. Just didn’t fancy removing interior windscreen trim with curtain airbags fitted to get an alternative below dash supply.

It gets better than that, both my Japanese imports have not one but 2 washer bottles. One should contain the washer fluid mix which is used first then the second one plain water to do the rinse all at 20c with no spin cycle. Calgon is optional along with rinse aid and Dettox, the best thing to use for better radio reception is Ariel pods.

Amazing what can be done with LEDs these days and to think that only a few decades ago no one could produce a single blue coloured one. My LS430 has hybrid rear clusters, bulbs in the inners and LED outer sections. I’ve seen the sequential indicators factory fitted so compliant but rear lights might pose a problem at MOT unless programmed to “normal” mode.

Yep all associated, if the CTS is faulty and telling the ECU the engine is cold when it is in fact normal hot it will idle the engine up to get it warmed up. For what a CTS costs just replace it.

Also check your vacuum hoses, make sure they are tight with the clips secured and not split or damaged.
