  1. Bear in mind that if the brakes have not been applied for some time they will be cold, the discs possibly be contaminated by oil and diesel off the road so greater initial brake pressure may be required. If you have no fault codes or other brake faults I would leave things as they are, personally I wouldn’t consider crud cleaning of reluctor rings and sensors as essential maintainance.
  2. Hi Geoff and welcome to the LOC. Have you replaced the AC cabin filter since ownership began ? I’ve also merged your 2 posts and moved them both to to the RX forum to avoid confusion.
  3. Although I am a member of the LOC I have never actually owned a Lexus branded car as they were both JDM imported Toyotas as the Lexus brand was not available in Japan until 2006 so every model was Toyota badged. From my experiences the Japanese Toyota equivalents have much better specifications and options than Lexus ever offered at the time, for example the 1994 Celsior had factory fitted Sat Nav probably a world first for any manufacturer. Times have changed and economies made but even my 2004 model year Celsior has options never made available to Lexus LS430 buyers outside Japan.
  4. I generally see what is on offer at ECP then order the correct spec from them, last time it got Shell Helix fully synth 5w30. BTW 105 K is not considered high mileage....there is a Lexus LS400 with a million miles on it apparently😀
  5. Had it been a Mercedes pump the answer would probably not been a positive one 😀
  6. I’ve reported this seller to eBay numerous times for “business seller failing to disclose detail” and nothing happens. Listing and FVfs trump legalities every time with Fleabay.
  7. Dodgy Dudley is back with his trader part exchange and private seller status. https://tinyurl.com/5fxd845c
  8. May have been thrown off when the pulley got the wobbles, tap the under tray and listen for it.
  9. Yes sounds normal, if there is a fault and the pump runs too long it will flag a code.
  10. Picture is fine. Did you recover the pulley cover? It fits between the pulley and bolt as shown below.
  11. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Hybrids don’t have a conventional vacuum brake servo as the engine has to run to provide the vacuum. The system uses a very high pressure nitrogen accumulator to supply the necessary brake pressure to conventional hydraulic brakes which in itself is a hybrid air and hydraulic system. The noise you can hear is the motor pump recharging the accumulator after you have used the stored pressure pumping the pedal. This system was also used on some GS300 models even though they were only petrol engines.
  12. Did you manage to get any pictures of that old pulley? Never known a collapsed bearing happen before as you normally get a squeal from cold which disappears once the engine warms up giving you some prior warning. I replaced this and the tensioner bearing when this did happen some years ago with supposedly “quality Japanese bearings”
  13. But I used the E5 SUP and it didn’t prevent any damage......the idler bearing still failed and took out the belt. 😀
  14. Hi Robert, I can’t find anything specific to OEM tyres on the LS460 but here’s a list of models and possibles.
  15. Unfortunately the motors are a common fail point and even worse cannot, like the earlier models, be repaired. You sometimes see secondhand ones on fleabay but no guarantees they will continue to work. New you’re looking around £300.00! Some members have manually adjusted the tilt position to a fixed comfortable position by turning the motor drive shaft with a suitable tool.
  16. Just trying to order a new set for my Celsior (13” x 6.5”) as I am retaining the personal plate, think I’m going to find someone local as I don’t fancy sending log books and the like or personal ID to an unknown seller which could leave me open for fraud.
  17. Hello Trev welcome to the LOC and subscribing to our Gold membership 😀 Stunning looking car you’ve purchased.
  18. Great news,I used to spray all the accessible nuts and bolts in the engine bay with WD40 to stop them rusting and seizing. What are the other niggles you need to sort ?
  19. After a quick google search I found very similar symptoms on another forum site where disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes then reconnecting sorted the problem.
  20. I can look up the part number for you Arjuntim but is the car left or right hand drive as your location says “Other/non UK” You also need the colour code of the car which is on the ID plate. List below is for a LHD IS250 Driver’s door.
  21. A very good write up Jason and nothing more satisfying than diagnosing a fault with some reverse engineering and keeping £325.00 + 20% in your pocket for the sake of a few hours and a blob or grease. I too never knew this system was fitted, I did notice that the grille on my 1994 Celsior was partially blanked off at the bottom but the LS400 one isn't which I assumed was due to differing climates and airflow requirements.
  22. Have you managed to get the new belt/pulley on and the car running again OK ? For the smell I would remove everything from the boot and leave it open if possible for a few hours then spray with Autoglym odour eliminator.
  23. I got complimented by Aaron on the Celsior engine bay, unfortunately it is now contaminated by bits of rubber off the shredded belt but pretty sure he will get it cleaned up again.
