Do you have breakdown cover on your car, AA, RAC or Lexus cover? Even if you haven’t you can normally join and for an extra fee get them out straight away. From there if they can’t sort it at your home they will arrange transportation to the nearest garage or preferably Lexus dealership for further investigation and repair.

The sounder horn is located inside the front driver’s side wheel arch, you will have to remove or at least release part of the plastic arch liner to get to it and disconnect the wires. Number 2 on diagram.

Or maybe someone has reversed into your car whilst it was parked? However the battery would be the prime suspect with multiple errors displayed.

With what sounds like an initially duff battery trying to start the car the chances are that this has blown the 150A Alternator fuse. The fuse box is located within the engine bay and it is fuse number 19 ( see picture below). You can see if the fuse has blown by looking through it’s clear plastic cover. Replacement is not straightforward as unlike most fuses it is not a plug in type, the connections are screwed on from underneath the fuse box necessitating it’s removal for access but DIYable with basic tools ( just make sure the battery is disconnected first) There are plenty of YouTube videos if you google “Replacing Lexus IS220d alternates fuse” https://youtu.be/YJUDYrV4gUQ https://youtu.be/NkXTTrjeSMo

I noticed unleaded was around €1.14 in Lanzarote this week so less than £1.00 a litre......£1.48 in the UK!

OK this must be one of the strangest questions ever asked on these forums but let me explain. My partner bought herself a nice watch from Duty Free at East Midlands Airport on our way to Lanzarote then managed to leave it behind in the hotel apartment. Fortunately it has been found and is now safe with reception but how do we get it back. I am hoping we have a member who lives there who may be able to help locally with all expenses paid?

I’ve never seen a nodding dog stuck on the parcel shelf of any Lexus model 😀 The Japanese go OTT with the net curtain seat top covers and black out curtains, USA owners appear to like the walnut tray tables fitted to the dash and rear seats. The UK Lexus over mats don’t seem to include the one that fits over the rear part of the transmission tunnel but the Japanese set always does. Now if Bentley made optional Lexus parts you would be spoilt for choice.

Also check the bonnet lock switch and wiring, being exposed to the elements the components can both corrode or the wires disconnect.

Also remember that once you move away from BMW you are no longer required to drive only in lanes 3 and 4 of motorways. 😀

Just a shame that the quality from the LS400 models wasn’t carried over and later exhaust systems reverted to mild steel. My 1994 was still on it’s original system when recently sold and it’s 2003 replacement has the optional factory fitted stainless steel system. Many years ago before the advent of catalytic convertors I had a mate in the exhaust trade who would make me a replacement exhaust from pieces of old systems in the scrap bin. At that time the only things recycled on a regular basis were milk bottles!

Hi Dave, They normally just unscrew by twisting anti-clockwise.

Personally I would get the head gasket issue fixed first then go from there before you end up needing a complete new engine due to oil starvation.

Too expensive in my opinion then you have to get it to the UK where HMRC will likely charge you 20% VAT on top! The strangest place for driving I have ever seen is St.Thomas USVI where all the cars are LHD but they drive on the left. Traffic lights in the air over the road always got me with emergency stops driving abroad.

Hi Deco, welcome to the LOC and a great 1st post. I think it is similar in the UK with taxis having MOTs at 6 monthly intervals plus all the local authority checks resulting in generally well maintained vehicles. 300,000 KM is around 180,000 miles and I’ve seen higher that that on “private” cars. You are obviously already on top of the maintenance so pretty sure you have a decent car there.
