  1. Hi Stan and welcome to the LOC. As Shahpor has already mentioned and being temperature related I would take a look at the EGR valve first, just google Lexus IS220d EGR cleaning and there are some excellent video tutorials on how to do this job yourself with a few basic tools. It could of course be a few other things but let’s start with the most common and cheapest cause.
  2. As far as I know they are a Strutmaster conversion kit purchased directly from the USA manufacturer so basically non adjustable coil overs. https://www.strutmasters.com/collections/Lexus-LS_430-2004 No FM expander as apparently there is no conventional co-axial aerial connection to the radio but just having radio 2 is fine with me plus you also have a multi CD player and tape/MD player, the TV is of course completely useless as are the sat nav and ETC.
  3. The first part number is as in the first image, the second one is not recognised?
  4. I’m waiting for the first “Where there’s a blame there’s a claim” case where someone trips over that EV charging cable lying across the pavement 😀
  5. Did you pull diagnostic codes for ABS to determine it was a fault on the rears? Did you clean all the crud off the sensor heads and measure the resistance of them?
  6. Hello and welcome to the LOC 😀
  7. Love it, seats are still unworn, cool in the summer and warm in the winter, there are no heaters in the front seats just the rears so the poor chauffeur has to slum it 😀 Yep prices have really shot up, only a few years ago you could land a decent LS400 for $4000.00 and now you’re looking double that particularly with the earlier models and rapidly depleting stock.
  8. Yep all that plus side blinds in the rear and a fridge. I prefer not to comment on prices but was more than happy with the price I paid for it.
  9. Prices have gone through the roof recently, just take a look at the “Cars from Japan” website. Mine is a UCF-31 with wool seats and no sunroof, the options in Japan were vast unlike UK models. Here are some pictures.
  10. Forgetting flowers for your wife.....has to be the last one I think 😀
  11. As Phil mentions check the auction sheet very carefully and bear in mind if you chose to import yourself there will be duty and VAT on both the car purchase price, shipping cost and the already paid duty. Additionally you will need to get the car UK registered and MOT’d. Japanese vehicles don’t have rear fogs fitted which are required in the UK so that’s another expense to consider. There are companies which will do all this for you.
  12. Parts are the same as the LS430 but have different Toyota part numbers which dealers have the pleasure of adding a “ premium” to the price being an “import” so order as Lexus parts. Replacement radiators are reasonably priced. 30 or 31 see previous post. Road Tax is based on the engine size ( above 1500cc) not emissions so slightly cheaper than the equivalent year LS430.
  13. UCF-31 is the top spec models like the C-F, UCF-30 the A and B specs, have a read to find out more. https://choroq.fandom.com/wiki/Toyota_Celsior_(UCF30)
  14. Government travel back to UK goalposts have moved yet again. Arrived back from Gran Canaria on Wednesday having had to take a supervised pre travel Lateral Flow Test and then a PCR test within 2 days of arrival. £51.00 for the pre travel tests and £88.00 for the arrival tests so £139.00 including would you believe it 20% VAT! Get up this morning to hear the pre travel test is no longer required after 4.00am on 9/1/2022 and the post arrival test has gone back to the much cheaper Lateral Flow Test At £15.00 each. Given the present situation here in the UK I wished I had stayed in Gran Canaria where Covid rules are actually strictly enforced, intensive care beds are at 22% capacity, no one complains about having to show their vaccination certificate and if you do get Covid the government there will pay your isolation, treatment and repatriation costs. Does anyone have step by step instructions for moving my steering wheel over to the other side 😀
  15. I recently purchased an excellent 2004 model year Celsior from a fellow member which fortunately came with all the usual problems already sorted. The things to look out for are worn suspension components both front and rear, faulty air suspension which on mine had been replaced with conventional struts, the coolant radiator/ transmission cooler for cross contamination of fluids due to internal leaks ( transmission wrecker if not sorted before it happens). The exhausts are mild steel so back boxes do rot out ( mine has a factory stainless steel system). Imports generally do not generally suffer from rust and rot like UK models due to a kinder to cars Japanese environment. Service items like the cam belt, filters and fluids are all the same as UK spec models. The early pre 2004 models suffered from window fogging due to delamination of the glass. The later models (2004-on) had a 6 speed sequential transmission.
  16. Amayama by any chance? Don’t forget to disconnect the battery first or better still take it off now and put it on charge.
  17. I based it on this but on a LHD model as the Op’s status says “ non uk” Search Results VIN* Model code From To Frame Characteristics JTHBH96S.. 18. I get this. 35000 TRANSMISSION ASSY, AUTOMATIC 35000-30B60 A960E 1 € 6,330.49
  19. A bit like that other well known nationwide company with a catchy slogan........”You can’t get better than a Kwik S**t Fitter” 😀
  20. I’m pretty sure that will be a riveting project but there again have this sinking feeling something will go wrong. Part Number 2109 below
  21. Think yourself lucky James, we’re flying back with them on Wednesday and they play it on the bloody plane! 😀
  22. Obviously your car is not subject to an MOT at the moment but would it fail given the position? With fully comprehensive insurance I would contact Lexus for advice and if they say a replacement is required get a genuine one fitted by them. Making a windscreen claim does not normally affect your NCB but there will be an excess to pay, this is normally less if you use the insurer’s “approved” supplier but you don’t have to if you don’t trust “Fit it Quik Windscreens Ltd” Also there is no immediate requirement for replacement so even a couple of months waiting for the OEM part is not too bad.
  23. I see the Covid “experts” are also on the list with Chris Twitty gaining a knighthood, fortunately for him he was locked in the broom cupboard at No.10 during the Christmas party. 😀
