  1. Thats about the price. You can join the two wires together to make the light on the dash go out. Hi Andy, Thanks very much for the reply luckily only one side has the problem and as the pads are new I have shorted out the sensor wires and will check pads wear by sight. Cheers, Steve
  2. I have a faulty n/s/f brake pad wear sensor ( like the wires have parted company with the pickup) I contacted the local toyota dealer as mine is the Celsior and was quoted £47.00 + vat. Is this about right or can someone do better? Cheers, Steve
  3. Well Radio 2 is coming in loud and clear but that's the only channel I get, I also think the aerial is built into the rear screen but also noticed that there are 2 aerial inputs to the in dash unit ( poss am/fm?). If you look above the cd changer there should be another metal box this is the amp ( well it is on my 94 Celsior). Cheers, Steve PS does yours have the "fender pole" on the nearside bumper?
  4. Hi, I'm surprised your radio works as the Japanese FM frequencies are different to the UK and I can only get radio 2. If you have the same hi-fi as mine the changer is located on the RHS of the boot and it should be the premium system with the amplifier mounted above it. You will have to remove the carpet moulding around it ( 2 screws in the 1st aid box holder and a couple of plastic clips plus feed the fuel flap puller thru)) then have a look and check that the 2 plugs are in between the cd changer and the amp ( 1 is on the LHS( blue I think) the other is at the back of the amp. Cheers, Steve
  5. Oh well it was worth a try! Might be worth putting one of those lens cleaner discs in but Pioneer units usually mount the laser upside down so dirt doesn't cause such a problem. I have the manual on cd rom outlining the key fob testing and diagnosis but the chances are it still wont work ( mine doesn't!) If you need a copy PM me your address details. Steve.
  6. Hello and welcome, Regarding the cd changer ( you may already know this but) have you put the discs in the correct way up in the cartridge ( pioneer have to have the playing side facing up not the label side). As regards the key fob these are very poor on sensitivity and you need to be within a few feet of the car ( the rear screen demister is also the aerial for this) also there should be a switch under the driver's dash just above the boot and fuel flap releases marked remote on off. Make sure it's switched to on. If that fails it's expensive to have repaired by the dealer (£300.00 plus I think) and a better and cheaper option is to have an after market alarm fitted ( e.g Thatcham) with remote access. Cheers, Steve.
  7. Not at all...I don't believe my post mentions breaking speed limits or other illegal activities, other than potential DWCFORU by the biker FOR SALE HONDA 1100 MOTORCYCLE TAXED MOT'D GOOD CONDITION AND VERY FAST BUT NOT AERODYNAMIC ANY MORE! BUYER COLLECTS BIKE FROM DERBY. BUYER COLLECTS FAIRING FROM NOTTINGHAM!!!! OH MATRON!!!
  8. Thanks everybody, I've now had a slight problem with the car. The flare has gone off unexpectedly and in my panic I accidentally hit the red button on the dash marked DO NOT PRESS in Japanese ( this has only been translated after the event) The unfortunate consequence of this action is shown in the picture link below. OOOOOPS!!!! Don't worry I am alright! http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...EXUSEJECTOR.jpg
  9. Hi Everybody, Giving my 94 Celsior a good valet today and found this located under the glovebox area passenger side footwell on the far left side. Plastic hollow black tube about 3" long and 1" in diameter no electrical connections. Very curious any ideas? As it's an import though the passenger may carry a riot stick and this is where it goes for storage. Well maybe not! here's the piccy. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...steryobject.jpg Steve
  10. wont do any harm to spray all the connectors under rear seat as I explained in a previous post. Thanks Andy, I wasn't sure as it related to the 90-92 model but will do this tomorrow by the way I had a quick look tonight and from what I've read about removal of rear seat there should be two tags at the front of the base which you pull to release the locking device ( another site suggested a crowbar!!!! what on a Lexus!) could you confirm please and is the connector under the seat base or back part?. Cheers, Steve No crowbar needed, pull the base of the seat upwards and it should release. The connectors are under the base disconnect them and spray/clean with wd40. Ther is a link under recent post started by tom hadfield which has a link about the problem although the picture is not an ls the principle is the same. I had this problem on a 92 I owned but think it is related to mk1 and mk2. Hi, Seat came out quite easily cleaned and sprayed the connectors but no improvement. I have now located and purchased a service manual for the Pioneer hi-fi system model CDX-M8036zt so should be able to diagnose and sort problem will update later. I will also make this manual available to forum members on request. Steve
  11. There is a complete headlight switch assy on ebay (UK) at the moment for £19.95 + P+P ( item # 7937330754 if that's any help ( For RHD model don't know if yours is) This may sound daft but the switch is not in "auto" mode is it? Cheers, Steve
  12. Hello and welcome to the world of Lexus ownership and this forum, I hope you allowed for this in the price you paid as it's a common problem along with the clock/ac lcd If you look on ebay you will find a company offering repairs for £249.99.( but you still have to remove the dash and send it away!) Lexus dealer is the simplest but most expensive option But I think Chris Vince is the forum guru on these matters. Cheers, Steve Three replies in 5 minutes are we all off work today?
  13. Hi, I have an mp3 player and I connect mine with the tape cassette adaptor thingy that plugs into the headphone socket and then you slot the tape adaptor into the tape player this tricks the tape player into thinking it has a tape in and tranfers the sound into the car hi-fi ( make sure the volume on the ipod is set to low before connecting then adjust accordingly. As Dave suggests be wary with the car, does it has a service history? been dealer maintained? and if only covered 2000 miles a year sounds good. I would also try to confirm mileage is correct ( old MOT's etc) it's not impossible to "alter" the mileage with them being electronic. Other give aways are worn driver's seat, pedal rubbers( again these can be replaced so look out) If in doubt could always get an AA/RAC inspection. As for the later models here a link detailing the changes made to the model. I'm just happy to own a Lexus!!!! http://www.lexls.com/info/ Good luck keep us updated, Steve
  14. Think you will find its a problem within instrument cluster. Try posting on USA site for more info as its a common problem. Hi, I've had a look and I think I found the US article for this problem and the fix ( if you can solder!) here's the link http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...owtopic=5822&hl Good luck, Steve
  15. Whats the difference between yours and a UK LS 400 mk2 . Hi, There doesn't seem to be a lot of difference but from what I have discovered it has the following "extras" The car is Toyota badged, engine plate is also Toyota, has a fender pole, has a DSP system on the hi fi,rear light cluster ( the boot mounted sections) are wider due to US style number plate, radio is for Japanese frequencies ( can only get radio 2) and has a Japanese labelled button which seems to switch the radio to a preset frequency. That's it I think everything else is as the UK spec according to driver's handbook. I was going to rebadge it but I haven't seen another so will stay as a Celsior and with only 39,000 certified miles on it I'm happy as Larry! My celsior when compared to a uk model near me also has seperate tape decks front and back, massaging heated rear seats, reinforced glass all round, two sports modes one for power and one for suspenion, height adjustable suspension, folding heated mirrors, automatic headlights, seperate air con front and back, boot mounted cd changer. The only similarities ive seen with the uk model is the cd changer which is in the glovebox on uk model. Hi, I'm not sure but there may be 2 specification levels for the Celsior, mine has the piezo air suspension but no ride adjustment switch ( apparently should be in the toolkit area) and there is a switch on the front aircon panel to feed the rear seats and one on the rear vents for passenger use. I dont have the heated massage seats in the rear ( some Celsiors had cloth seats as well) but mine are leather, Does have the folding heated mirrors, automatic lighting and the boot mounted cd changer. By the way what year is yours? Steve 92 Celsior, does have full leather interior, the switch in the boot is just for self levelling suspension, however i have beside gearstick the height adjustable button along with the "TEMSsport" suspension button and the power sports mode button There must be variations in the spec because I don't have those options on mine. When I bought the car I got the Certificate of De-registration from Japan and it belonged to a company over there so I sent a copy of it with a covering letter to the address given to try and find some history, but it appears to have been well looked after ( power steering pump is brand new so that's a relief, thought it a bit sus at 1st with only 39,000 miles on the clock but I guess it's also the age that caused the failure of the original one) I'll wait and see( probably come back in Japanese Help!!!) Cheers, Steve

  18. Hi, Strange one this I have lost the sound from my front right speaker, if you turn up the volume and use the fader/balance buttons to feed only this speaker a hiss is heard suggesting output is ok with the audio at a low level in the background. I've read up on other similar problems which suggest the telephone mute circuit but does this affect all the speakers or just this one and the 94 models? Additionally even though I have some wiring diagrams none seem to match up to my system. Any advice welcomed, Thanks, Steve Here are some photos of my system including the boot mount kit http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...usstereo001.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...usstereo002.jpg

  20. Hi Mariusz, First of all welcome to the forum. The official Lexus workshop manuals ( a set of 2 I believe) may still be availiable but are expensive and 2nd hand seem to be a rare find.I have seen them on Ebay in the USA but postage is expensive on top of the purchase price. However there are many excellent Lexus brains on the forum and I am sure that if you could give some more details of your problems someone will come up with a solution or point you in the right direction. cheers, Steve
  21. Hi, I don't know if this will help for your model but there appears to be another fuse labeled as 10A DOME on the wiring diagram. here is the link for the diagram http://www.clublexus.com/forums/attachment...achmentid=41917 good luck with the repair, Steve
  22. Hello Again, Forgot to mention on my last post that I have now sorted out my defective climate control/clock display in my ls400/Celsior. Supplied to me as just the lcd panel with no conversion kit required as it has been specially made for the Uk RHD model I have ( I believe) become the 1st Uk recipient. It's so nice to see the time and set the climate control for these cold days. Here's a picture of the finished project http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...Ddisplay004.jpg PM me for further info and piccys. Cheers, Steve
  23. Hi Everybody, Just been trawling through ebay ( looking for a 2000 model LS on Buy it Now for a pound Ha Ha!) Came across this item ( item # 4629681326) Described as a 1998 LS400 it appears to be a series 2 and is Toyota badged which to me suggests a 92-94 model imported Celsior. Hmmmmmmmmm. Confirmation please or is it just me
  24. I have serious reservations with respect to the airbag and the associated circuitry, and the precautions needed to remove it. I think normally the electrical contacts are made via slip rings if these are different you will have problems also the cruise control must be a similar setup with it being mounted on the steering wheel
  25. Hi, Just done a front brake pad change and noticed that the rubber concertina type sleeve over the top part of the damper is torn. Question is can this be replaced by itself? I dont fancy leaving it with the exposure it gets to water and salt off the roads. Chers, Steve
