  1. Hi, Yes the part # on the unit is 47970-50020 ( underneath is # 133400-0022) manufactured by Denso also noticed mounted next to it is a relay marked ABS/TRAC so could be associated with this. Cheers, Steve
  2. Hi, Not sure what this is for but is it anything to do with ABS? Here's the picture of it http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...06/Image013.jpg Cheers, Steve
  3. Hi Everyone, Just checking engine levels today and removed a clip on cover near to the windscreen wiper motor ( rhs near bulkhead) Under this cover is a small cylinder about 6" long with a brake type pipe emergiging from it and a warning regarding it contains presurised nitrogen. Can anyone please tell me what this is for? Cheers, Steve
  4. It is super clean and the mileage is good too I think, I paid good money for it considering that it's a 2 so hopefully it'll look after me. I love the car, I've been after one for about 10 years since I drove my first one It is everything I thought it would be but what I didn't expect was to get one in this condition. Everything works and is mint apart from 1 thing being missing from the toolkit (no idea what) and the clock and aircon displays being black. My previous cars have always been fast cars of one description or another but the closest I'd got to anything like this was my old Carlton gsi's, these don't suffer with rust the same though :D My previous car was this. You can't compare a LS400 to that That was amazing and fast but this does that too plus it does it comfortably :) Hi, My imported 1994 LS400 Celsior has traction control fitted and is running on maxgrad 255/40/17's on the rear not sure if it has an lsd though. I still have to be careful coming off roundabouts in the wet if it kicks down on the exit corner the back end still twitches! By the way I bet the item missing from your toolkit is the penlight torch it normally is! Cheers, Steve
  5. Hi Everyone, Just an update on the LS400 diagnostics article. There is in the September issue an apology for the omission of the article, apparently the car they were going to use was not available when it was needed ( should have contacted LOC I'm sure one of us would have helped out and got our car in print!) Anyway they are still going to publish it in the future so I will update when I know the issue it will ( hopefully) appear in. I did read something interesting in it this month regarding crossing your hands accross the steering wheel ( like most of us do!) but consider this. If you were in the crossed hands position and hit something whilst cornering and the airbag activated, your fist would hit you in the face powered by the airbag! Hmmm as I say interesting. Hope everyone had a good Bank Hol, Cheers, Steve
  6. Hi, Seeing as it's quiet on the forum at the moment I thought I'd make enquiries. Travelling northbound M1 between Junction 24 and 26 ( derbys/notts) at around 5.00pm today stuck in the usual jam I spotted a Gold LS400 with the reg L400 ** ( partially obscured for privacy reasons) Are you a forum member? If so say hello again. Steve
  7. Hi, Yes you need to remove the rear seat bottom and back, follow this link for more details. http://www.lextreme.com/ascon.htm Cheers, Steve
  8. Hi Justin, Welcome to LOC. There are plenty of friendly and Lexus informed people on this forum, I myself have an imported LS400 ( Toyota badged Celsior). Steering wheels frighten me to an extent ( it's the airbag element that gives me the jitters!). May be worth a look on Ebay for a breaker (UK and US) or there are some people specialising in Lexus Breakers in the UK ( I think one is Swift Breakers) anyone confirm this please? Another option may be to try and obtain a replacement leather cover. Good luck with the project, Steve
  9. Shortly after aquiring my Lexus LS400, I backed out of my drive and not being familar with the length of the vehicle promptly reversed straight into the back of a micra. The damage to the poor micra was horrendous, but there was absolutly no damage at all to the Lexus. Then a few days later some idiot parked across my drive, it was a Honda of some sort. I was so annoyed I crept up to the car in the lexus and pushed it backwards, it moved as if it's brakes were off (they weren't). A tank indeed!! Trevor Hi Trevor, Welcome to the forum on behalf of everyone, Everything is progressing smoothly with the insurance claim as her insurer's have admitted liability so I am not involving my own insurers. Cheers, Steve
  10. Yes they are ( to 113 Miles per hour) but they are normally de-resestricted when the speedo conversion is done. Steve
  11. Hi Jim, Welcome to the forum. It's a difficult one this is, I own an imported 1994 LS400 ( Celsior) which has been well looked after as it was originally company owned in Japan but this may not be the same with all imports. It's extremely unlikely to have any service history as everything seems to disappear when they are deregistered in Japan ( You should have the original copy of this certificate with the vehicle). The major points to look for are suspension wear front and rear, bushes, ball joints, hubs etc bear in mind these cars have fully independant suspension and there are lots of wearing moving parts. On the same subject many imports have air suspension, very nice ride but very expensive to repair and unless you are sure new units are fitted will by now be ready to fail.Exhausts on this year are not normally stainless steel and cost over a grand to replace.Power steering pumps and racks fail.Air con is another thing to check carefully. The milage may or may not be genuine ( mine was certified at 38,000 when purchased) and also it must be converted to MPH from KPH and should have been derestricted on max speed ( in Japan they are limited to 113 MPH). The majority of parts are the same as the UK spec models but there are differences e.g inner rear light clusters are wider because of the US style number plates, the engine is the same as UK (UCF10) except it will have Toyota on the top instead of Lexus, discs and pads are the same and some buttons in the car are in Japanese.Cloth seats are the norm in Japan ( cooler and no sticking to them) Also if the dealer has taken it in part ex it may be worth having a look at the log book and see if you can contact the previous owner and find out if he has any history or even why he got rid of it to start with! ( perhaps been told at the last MOT that it will need £5000 spending on it for the next one!) Another point is many mainsteam insurers will pull faces with an import. These are not cheap cars to run properly and return around 20 miles per gallon. I would have a look on ebay to get an idea of prices and they are UK spec models. Don't want to put you off as they are excellent cars but be careful what you buy even if it's a bargain price. If you don't mind revealing, how much are they asking? Wow that was nearly a best selling novel!! Good luck, Steve
  12. Hi, I typed in " boot mats ls400" into google and loads came up but you may have to contact suppliers for the LS400 as the rx300 is listed but not the LS. I think "chips" is in Hampshire and would be able to advise you more on local dealerships( he will be along soon) Anyway taking mine out for a ride now ( 1994 Celsior with all the goodies) Cheers, Steve
  13. Celsior rear inner ( boot lid) lights are wider than the Uk spec LS400 due to the number plate being a different shape and size, also I think the boot lock is also placed differently. Looking at the 2 styles the import boot lid would fit I think as it is only the light cluster that is different but you would have to have a US style plate like mine. Here is a link to a picture of my Celsior to give you an idea of the differences. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...exusrear002.jpg Yup, Thats them, thanks for the pick. As you say the boot key is further in too. I plan to cut out the reversing light from my inner section and replace it with some clear lense (to make it match the new outers), but I think I'll use a light from a scrap yard as the donor material, maybe do a trial run first too on my LHS inner as it's already broke in the red part and whole thing needs replaceing. Any one with a Celsior in need of new inner lights with clear centre section? A V low cost deal could be struck... :D Mmmm! tempting, I've tinted mine darker since I took the picture. PM me with a price though I may consider a change. Cheers, Steve

  15. Hi, Yes the police attended as it was obstructing the road and there were roadworks on lane 2 the police told her that as she had run into the back of me she was liable ( and good news she has insurance!) My insurers have already made arrangements for estimates, loan car and a solicitor ( been to the GP to report the faulty neck) so it's looking OK. Still can't believe her car, the bonnet looked in the same state as yours was and this was a 10 mph impact! Must go now my neck is killing me!!!! Cheers, Steve
  16. Hi, Back again here is a link to a US website doing conversion kits and recon air struts http://www.arnottindustries.com/parts_Lexu...400__yid46.html or I typed in air suspension lexus ls400 into google Cheers, Steve
  17. Hi, Welcome to the forum. You may be better looking thru the US forum as there are people who will be able to assist and I think provide contact details for recon units. I have a 94 Celsior but I don't think it's on AS as there are no pipes going to the dampers and no height adjustment switches in the car but I do have TEMS on the car. Good luck, Steve
  18. The power down was full power! I did check the output to the motor today with my mulit meter, 12v down 0v up... bugger. Hi I don't know your year but according to the wiring diagram for a 1994 there are 3 wires to the power window switch on the nearside rear door. Connecting Blue to Blue/Yellow should wind the window up and Blue to Green/Yellow should wind the window down. The blue wire is the 12v supply which is the common supply to all the windows. Steve
  19. I gonna put some tractor wheels on mine now I've seen this! Big ones at the rear and the small ones at the front Hmmmmmmmm!!!! suits you sir.
  20. Hello again, 1st of all nobody hurt apart from a stiff neck today. Last evening whilst driving through Derby the driver in front of me decided to do an emergency stop! to allow another motorist to pull out in front of him.I stopped ok without contact only to be hit by the driver behind me who couldn't stop in time OOOPS! Got out of my car looked at hers, bumper disintegrated, bonnet a concertina and thought if that's her's whats mine like! Result nearside exhaust pipe 3" shorter and 4 marks on the bumper and a under bumper trim piece hanging off on one side (ok there may be other damage when it goes in for repairs) but I drove mine home! Just goes to show there's quality and there's Lexus quality. One question, if the exhaust has been pushed forward should I insist on a complete replacement as I dont want problems later with stress fractures? Cheers, Steve
  21. Hi Everybody, A while ago I posted information regarding the advertised up and coming electronic diagnostics feature in the above magazine due in the August issue not only that but this info was then taken to the US forum. I duly purchased the magzine only to find that the feature was for the Saab 9-3 and not the LS400 as stated the month before. Although not my fault ( I only went on the information in the July copy) I would like to apologise if you have purchased this mag for this info. I have e-mailed the editor to inform him of this error but as of yet he has not had the courtesy to reply with their reasons for the change to me personally or to the forum as I requested. Thank goodness the car is more reliable than the publisher!! Steve
  22. Hi Ian, I am running 17" on my 94 Celsior 245/40/17 rears and 235/45/17 fronts with Impul Granz chrome alloys. here's a pic. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste.../ImpulGranz.jpg Cheers, Steve
  23. My 94 Celsior has the overdrive switch on the shifter, on giving you 4 speed and off giving you 3 but I always leave it switched on unless decending a steep hill when engine breaking is needed.
  24. Hi, Try this link for a checklist, Cheers, Steve. http://www.apaqdigital.com/ls400/ls400_guide.htm
  25. Hi, I'm not sure if mine is the same but does yours have the Premium Sound System installed? If you look in the boot the amp is mounted on top of the CD changer ( you may have to remove the 1st aid box moulding to see) If is is this type let me know as I have the wiring diagram with the colour codes for the speaker wires. The plug on the head unit you pulled and the sound went off may be the inputs to the amp and not the outputs ( speaker) connections. cheers, Steve
