  1. I bought 24 cans of Silver Seal paint protector for a bargain price on ebay and used one on my LS to try it. Best finish I've had. Apparently it's for professional valeters but was easy to apply and polish off. Best thing was I kept 4 cans myself and sold the rest back on ebay for a healthy profit!
  2. I did mine the other day and as mentioned in last post get the wipers in the vertical position then on the drivers side there is a hinged clip which has to be lifted 1st ( hinge is furthest away from the wiper arm) prise it up carefully then give the blade assy a good tug downwards make sure you don't allow the arm to hit the windscreen when the blde releases or put some padding underneath 1st Here are a couple of pictures to assist ( for reference wiper arm enters from the right side) http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...720_36_0001.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...720_37_0001.jpg
  3. Hi, Welcome to LOC. I would start with a diagnostics reading 1st as this may give you a clue as to where the problem might be ( I assume the engine management light doesn't come on?) The favourite on these cars is the crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor being intermittant or wiring problems to them. Check the wiring to these items is good before condeming the sensor. Good luck.
  4. Hello, Many members like me probably looked at your posting and hadn't got a clue how to help you. But by sorting it out yourself and letting everyone know the problem I commend you. Please don't be put off using the forum because of the lack of response on this occasion if anybody can help they will but with this problem I think we've all got splinters through much head scratching. Happy Lexus Driving :D
  5. Hi Everybody, My LS400?Celsior import was 1st registered on the 1st January 1994 and is a series 2. OK so far. I needed new wiper blades and looked on ebay to find a pair of Bosch branded ones for the 1990-1994 LS400 for sale. Paid for them and they arrived but they are 20" ( drivers) and 18" (passengers) but don't fit as mine are 22" and 16" respectively. Emailed the seller to be told according to the catalogue they are the correct ones for my car and the 22/16 are for 1995 on! So who's right here or is it the fact that mine's an import so at least a year in advance of UK spec models!
  6. :D Arrr! I think that was only on the base model! http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...d_0006_0001.jpg
  7. Coming down the M1 today and was passed by a newish GS300 ( I think, was in the van sooo slow) The rear number plate lights looked nice and bright as if xenon lit. Does anyone know what the lighting is and can I get some for my LS?
  8. Here's a tip, If a website like Toyota TIS requires a US address go onto google ( other search engines are available) and type in US ZIP CODES. Pick on you like and use it to access the site. You don't have to live there to use one.
  9. My 94 Celsior has a mini bar, washing machine, tumble dryer, kitchen sink with double drainer ( with matching walnut trim) in the boot and I have retro fitted an inflatable butler in place of the passenger air bag to serve the drinks!!!!!!!!!
  10. Hi, Not much help after the event but I bought some headlight/sidelight protectors off ebay some time ago for about £15.00 and they don't look naff. Cheaper than a new headlight! Fitted on this car to left
  11. Hi, The 12 volt supply and earths are common to all seat adjustments and these must be present as you have some adjustments working. There is a 16 pin connector to the seat motors ( don't know exactly where but have a look under the seat). pins 11 and 12 go to the motor which does the slide function. Check the connections and also the connections to the switch which controls seat movement. Another possibility is a mechanical problem which has jammed the motor movement. Cheers, Steve
  12. Hi, Give me the year and I'll have a look at the wiring diagrams for you
  13. Could be just coincidence but I find that Shell super unleaded gives me a better MPG than any other fuel don't know why and I don't generally keep tabs on consumption as my LS is only the nights out/weekend car but there is a difference.
  14. Hi and welcome to LOC ( looks like I'm the 1st to get home again!) Might be worth trying these people www.ukobd.co.uk or www.gendan.co.uk/car If you can detail your problem some one on here can usually help. Cheers, Steve
  15. Hi, I also had an engine undercover off this guy he is fairly local so I collected. as for removing and refitting the cluster this link although for tinting the lenses explains with photos how to remove them http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/lighting/ti...taillights.html Cheers, Steve Ps ALEX JB a forum member on here replaced his clusters with clear ones may be worth PM him to see if he has the originals!
  16. Hi, Here is the link to flushing/changing the fluid also on the same site is the PS pump rebuild proceedure should it come to that! Good luck, Steve http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/steering/psflush.html
  17. Hi, From what I remember reading it is the needles that fail due to breakdown of the electro florescent coating on the needles. There is a "fix" I read somewhere involving an ultra violet light and painting the needles but Chris Vince has a trade secret for repairing them. I always keep mine at minimum brightness in an effort to minimise wear. The PCB capacitor replacement is the cure for the blacked out intermittant dash due to leaky capacitors losing their correct value and increased esr within them ( technical jargon as Chris Vince will confirm and Chris can repair the needles)
  18. Arrr code reader only on yours I think but you should still be able to do the manual shift test.
  19. I bought some front pads for mine off ebay from a regular seller on there and they were cr*p there was so much brake dust I had to clean the wheels everyday! and they squealed like pigs. Replaced them and the rears with genuine Toyota ones and no problems since. Moral of story, brakes are safety items buy the best!
  20. Having done the necessary research everything points to a faulty drivers window master switch the logic circuit for the one touch operation is integrated into the switch and is non serviceable so a replacement switch is the only option.
  21. Apparently the diagnostic codes only cover electrical box faults not mechanical problems. To self test put ignition on ( do not start engine), over drive on ( light is out),connect TE1 and E1 terminals together on the diagnostics port ( to right and under steering column) Normal should give 2 flashes on 2 flashes off on the overdrive light. If not let me know the code displayed. If no code shows do the manual shifting test by disconnecting the shift solenoid loom at the rear of the gearbox (Ignition off) and drive the car starting in L shift to 2 then 3. If the car changes up/down thru the gears manually this is probably good news from a mechanical point of view. Let me know what happens. Cheers, Steve
