  1. I guess it's the 2000 year one at £12,995 and it's a dealer sale, they don't like moving much on price. It is however fairly low mileage with FLSH. Is there any warranty on it? If he gets stuck with it for a month on the forecourt £12,000 seems a fair price and you could use the saving to fill it up 10 times!!! BTW all supermarkets have BOGOFFS but they never have buy one litre get one free at their filling stations Hmmm! Every Litre Helps!!
  2. I can imagine the insurance company's gasp when they hear the list of modifications you have to reel off and then they decline you cover!!! It probably has more service history for the body kit than the car itself.
  3. Probably the cheapest option is on ebay.com even taking into account the shipping they still work out better than uk prices. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?f...&category0= Be aware you may have to pay duty on them! ( 17.5%) BTW it may be worth trying to reprime the old ones by lifting the bonnet up and down a few times.
  4. Go straight for the wiring loom that passes over the nearside boot lid hinge, it is wrapped in a black plastic sleeve, carefully open it up and look and feel for damaged wires, repair as required and retape. Apparently when the cars where built they were not too generous on the wire lenghts and the opening of the boot over time causes breaks to the wire inside the insulation ( having said that it seems to take 14 years to cause a problem!).
  5. Hi, Yes the ride height sensors do fail ( Lexus have in the past replaced under warranty with cars under 6 years old) and the signals from these are input into the headlight level ECU. If you PM me your contact details I will copy the manual section so you can locate and check the condition of them before having to pay £££££'s at the dealer.
  6. I'm glad mine is in standard guise, the autobox selector is the worst of taste! Nearly managed to buy this one last night was either going to repair or break but outbid by £18.99!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...W:IT&ih=006
  7. Hi, Firstly welcome to LOC. For the HID headlight leveling there is yet another ECU behind the dash called ( believe it or not) the headlight beam level control ECU. The information for the ECU is provided by 2 sensors 1 behind each headlight called the Beam Level Control Accuators. With these being in quite an exposed position ( damp heat etc) I would locate and check the wiring connections are ok 1st. There are also ride height sensor inputs to the ECU but not sure if these are active in non air suspension models. The only other alternative is the Lexus Stealer at Pride Park for a diagnostic check. If you can read circuit diagrams and diagnose yourself let me know by PM and I will post you a copy of the wiring involved. Good luck
  8. "I went up North and used the M6 Toll Road, and the Sat Nav LAdy went bonkers when she thought I was driving through fields and hedges, as the disk I have is the original with the car from from 1998. What was most disturbing was being told that touch paint for my car, colour Amethyst, was no longer available. Any one know where I can get some ?" Chris These cars are always surprising me but how did the sexy satnav voice lady know that the paint had been discontinued??!!!
  9. I think my Celsior must be the only one on TEMS coilovers ( thank goodness!) Don't suppose you know what dampers they are? I have a J plate UCF11 which has had the bags swapped for coils. The TEMS switch and dash light work without any errors, but it is soggy than a sponge full of custard, so if I could find some decent coilovers that used the TEMS I would be a happy bunny. I had a quick look but couldn't see any labels but will look more closely with the wheel off when I get the time. Mine has very stiff suspension in normal mode and go kart ( Nissan Skyline) handling in sports mode. Also has 255/40/17's on rear and 235/45/17's front.
  10. Glad you're happy with it. I get mine in two weeks! :D Hi Trouper00 welcome to LOC tell us all about the new Lex you are buying.
  11. Hi Everyone, My Celsior went in for the MOT today as well, took it into my local Garage at Leabrooks at 10.00 am and got a phone call at 11.00 am telling me it has passed without a problem, very happy as it only cost me £35.00 ( the mot not the car!) Thats a nasty move by the mot tester removing the coating on a brake line I thought they weren't allowed to do things like that? Anyway Ian we both have another year of luxury motoring to look forward to and hopefully many more after although I read somewhere you were thinking of selling again? Cheers, Steve
  12. Hello, I read up on these devices once before I realised I had coilovers and not AS. I still to this day don't know if my Celsior has been converted to coilovers (doubtful with 38,000 miles only) or had them fitted from new, but it has TEMS also. " The truth is out there"
  13. Hi, Lower balljoints are not too bad either on price or fitting as they bolt onto the lower arm. There are plenty of sites doing them or buy from Lexus. Here is a link showing what's involved ( picture 4 shows the actual part that needs replacing) http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/suspension/flowerarm.html Cheers, Steve
  14. Hi, Welcome to LOC. :D If it's the same as the series 2 it is located low down under the dash right hand side beneath the coin holder it's round in shape and has a cover on it. Cheers, Steve
  15. I think my Celsior must be the only one on TEMS coilovers ( thank goodness!)
  16. Hi, Contact this guy either by phone or sent a message with ebay he still has the front seatbelts in black www.ebay.co.uk Item # 110157616546 Cheers, Steve
  17. Hi, Here is the link to ebay UK there are some cars being broken if you look through the listings, best to contact the seller for a price to Sweden. You may even get the correct colour to match. Cheers, Steve http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll...tle=lexus+ls400
  18. Hi Alex, Funny you should mention this problem mine seems to be exactly the same,no worn suspension components but a definite clunk normally only when turning sharp right, applying the brakes when taking the corner eliminates the clunk.
  19. Hi Ian ( Celsior owner 2 of 3 ) Just seen your reply and thought have you checked the rack filter? The link's on my last post Cheers, Steve ( Celsior owner 1of3 on the LOC)
  20. Hi, Mines a 94 sers2 bought with 38.000 miles on it fitted with coilovers and TEMS The amp on mine is in the boot mounted on top of the cd changer but depends on whether you have Pioneer or Nakamichi premium sound system as to the amp type. Might be worth getting a garage to check out the steering as it could be pump problem, rack problem or even suspension ( ball joint) problem. There are known problems with the PS pump and rebuild kits are available but these faults are normally associated with a leak. Here is another link which may be of some help http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=12024 Cheers, Steve ( 1 of 3 known UK Celsior owners on the LOC)
  21. Hi, There is a sensor at the bottom of the washer bottle that gives problems. If I remember correctly Chris Vince had the same problem and kindly gave us a move by move repair. Chris it's over to you!! Change of plan here is the link to Chris's repair method http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...l=washer+bottle
  22. Hi and welcome to LOC Another Celsior owner well that makes three now at last! There are lots of threads on here re PS but did you bleed the system when you lost the fluid? Here is a link to get you started and a good resource site http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/steering/
  23. Ian it could have been worse you could have changed your cambelt twice and not realised!

    Dash

As far as I know the LS dash is the same but the limiter is not located within the dash panel. You can get delimiter units/speedo conversion kits mine was done before purchase but let me know if you want contact details for the company. Cheers, Steve
