  1. A known cause of no AC is corroded pipes to the rear AC for the drinks cooler plus of course the other usual suspects like the compressor and condenser. MOT history looks reasonable but been off the road for a couple of years from 2019. Is it a private sale or dealer?
  2. I spotted 2 other Celsiors, a 2000-2003 pre face lift and an early series 1990-1994 model both JDMd up with the lace seat covers and tray tables plus a few LS400/430s. The ISF disguised as a 250 was that the black one in amongst the market stalls?
  3. It certainly wasn’t me at 63 and grey hair.😀 Is it time to put the bonnets up again? Did anyone get a picture of the pitch, I forgot to put some film in my camera.
  4. Good morning. Apologies again for leaving unannounced, knowing the ensuing chaos at around 5.00pm we made an early exit while you were all away from the pitch and hope you found my scribbled note. Great to meet you all and really enjoyed my first ever event like this however still coughing up drift car tyre smoke. Very fortunate with the weather being as nice as it was. Hope you all got home safe and sound.
  5. Firstly thanks to Max for his outstanding first post 😀 I would add in the following points. Suspension...these are heavy cars and suspension items do wear, control arms, lower ball joints, bushings. Expect corrosion on the wheels unless refurbished. Perform an MOT history check on any potential candidates. Check underneath for corrosion particularly on the rear subframe.
  6. Cheers, I never knew that until now, where is it on the 90-92 model or does it just have a 4 speed without the 3 plus OD?
  7. I can’t make out if the car is a 90-92 or 93-94 model as no clear shot of the odometer. Car was a December 1992 registration so may be the later series II with the bigger wheels and better front brakes.
  8. I’m not surprised given the use of lead free solder these days, chewing gum would probably provide better joints! The original lead solder is still manufactured but it’s use limited for one to military applications but I would imagine this extends to civil aviation and nuclear. Thankfully I still have adequate supplies of MIL grade leaded solder and a trusty fume extractor. The other problem is there is unlikely to be any third party companies like BBA reman offering a repair service on these and other limited production modules and of course no circuit diagrams to aid repair.
  9. But Lexus fit a retaining clip on the rear fastening to keep it in place whilst being assembled. 😀
  10. As Peter mentions it’s a “grey area” with the MOT tester’s interpretation coming into play. Mine were given around 5 light coats of tint spray which reduced the redness but not so much the light output.
  11. Very clean, low mileage? Have you ever seen another one on the island?
  12. I used aerosol tint on my 94 Celsior rear light clusters to darken them. Never had a comment about them over 14 years of MOTs.
  13. Definitely, I had a set a few years ago, should be staggered as wider on the rear.
  14. Hi Mark, welcome to the LOC and actually getting your hands on a new ES300h 😀
  15. That’s a metric/imperial mix for sure, converting your 880kms to miles is 547 miles so truly impressive. The only time my old Celsior got above 25MPG was on the back of a recovery truck. 😀 It would be somewhat rude to convert your weight to Kgs so I’m not going there 😀
  16. There is but no access to diagrams. Yep potential MOT fail on insecure battery! Battery negative cover missing too but it may be down the side of the battery. Basically there are 3 parts to it, the main top clamp and 2 stays as shown circled in red There is also a nut for the front threaded bar and a clip at the rear of the battery box, part numbers are shown for each although the nut is generic ( M6 I think). Shown in blue. 74404A CLAMP SUB-ASSY, BATTERY 74404-50030 1 € 21.21 74407A BOLT SUB-ASSY, BATTERY CLAMP 74407-50010 1 € 5.71 74408A BOLT SUB-ASSY, BATTERY CLAMP, NO.2 74408-50030 1 € 6.25
  17. I found it was a lot easier to do with the engine out 😀😀😀
  18. Confusing instructions for the vehicle display too...”cut along the dotted lines” There’s an inch down one side and another cut to the circle so assumed cut it all out including the circle. I’ve also discovered that my Celsior is in fact also an “F” car or at least a close relative. 😀
  19. You’re missing the complete battery fixing clamp by the looks of it, the cover fixings push into the holes in the arms circled in red. Comes in about 5 different parts from Lexus, let me know if you need part numbers.
  20. Hi Ricardo and welcome to the LOC. Starter motor seems OK as it is cranking the engine, notice the Engine Management Light is on, what fault codes do you have?
  21. Yes Lexus is the special projects division of Toyota 😀
