  1. It’s a long way to go though in a rubber dingy.
  2. That’s exactly why I took a generous 4.5 times redundancy offer ( tax free 😀) after working full time for over 45 years and finished at 62. I got enough full years NI contributions in to get the Full State Pension and contrbuting another 4 years would not increase the pension. Careful joint investments and private/ company pension drawdowns plus our income tax allowances mean I haven’t paid another penny in Income tax since. My State Pension becomes payable in March 2025 ( if the age doesn’t go up!) which obviously is classed as income so I’m presently working around that to legally avoid paying anything to HMRC out of my income. VAT and other taxes like fuel “ duty” can’t be avoided easily I but saved myself £10.00 VAT today on a cash sale.
  3. All sorted, good luck with the sale.
  4. It’s growing Malc but just shows out of 11 million affected pensioners just over 0.5 million have signed. The government are well aware that pensioners in general don’t have access to or the ability to use modern technology and are unlikely to be marching through London in protest so are generally suppressed when it comes to voicing their opinions. This also applies to Pension Credit applications where answering over 200 questions with no guarantee of success is enough to put off most pensioners applying. We need to be careful here Malc, we could be labelled as Right Wing Pensioners! 😀
  5. Things are happening, I have now hired a mini digger to extract the coal and the pile is growing. My plan is to now remove the V8 and convert the car to steam, I have calculated that if the boot is filled with coal I will have a range of around 250 miles…..better than most EVs. Apparently steam powered vehicles do not pay any road tax saving me around £300.00 a year….what a coincidence that’s the same as the Winter Fuel Allowance 😀
  6. I’ve been digging out some footings for a new garden wall and have come across a seam of coal. I now have quite a stack on the barbecue which I am going to bring into the house and light when it gets cold.
  7. We like to keep it nice and friendly here😀 To edit your initial post click on the 3 dots at the top right, this will open options then click edit. Once completed click on save. If you are still struggling let me know what you want adding and I’ll edit it for you. Having looked through the MOT history the recorded mileage is up and down quite a bit, but reading between the lines looks like tester error where 49,000 should be 99,000 and 10,000 should be 100,000. Then it all runs straight. Very nice example by the way and no mention of corrosion on any MOT. I would however suggest replacing the tyres which being 15” are fairly cheap even for good quality branded ones.
  8. Hi Janice and welcome to the LOC. As Jonathan correctly mentions it is a condition of selling on the LOC that a price is listed. As a new member I have attached a link below, also as Malc suggests revealing the vehicle registration would also help you sell it as it allows potential buyers to check the MOT history and perform other checks on websites.
  9. Years ago I bid 99p on a genuine Lexus LS400 roof rack on eBay and won it. Collected locally and like new, I tried it on the car then wrapped it up and put it in the shed. Having never used it several years later I listed it on eBay and a guy in Sweden offered me £100.00 plus shipping cost. Fortunately it fully dismantled so I took loads of pictures to send with it and off it went to Sweden. I often wonder if it’s still driving around Sweden with a road kill deer strapped on it whistling at over 75 KPH 😀
  10. You are most welcome Quincy. Don’t forget here in the UK a hood is a bonnet, a trunk is a boot, a fender is a wing and rotors are brake discs. 😀
  11. What was it Brian, the alt fuse or something else?
  12. Welcome to the LOC. One word answer…….YES.
  13. The doors are programmed to unlock after an impact.
  14. Same here in Amber Valley!
  15. If you would like to check how your local mp voted click on the link below. https://votes.parliament.uk/votes/commons/division/1841?byMember=True
  16. They’re going up 40p for 1st class soon be cheaper to deliver letters in my 4.3 V8. Second class just like the government are not increasing.
  17. After the vote earlier in the commons I have just emailed my new labour mp to ask how she voted. Reply not expected. You may have noticed my grammar is not up to its usual standard regarding capital letters when it comes to certain government words due to my current lack of respect for the establishment.
  18. I have now retired but still occasionally pilot commercial aircraft (Airbus A319/320/321). I will check to see if this reduces my premium as I spend more time in the air than on the road. Although will I have to mention that all of my flying is done on a flight simulator in the man shed?
  19. I’ll second that Colin, the Alt fuse often blows with jump starts or of course reverse polarity. If you want to locate the fuse Brian to check it’s located in the engine bay fusebox. It’s not your normal plug in type but much larger with a clear plastic cover so easy to see if blown. A bit of a pig to replace as it is screw terminals are accessed from underneath. Link to fuse box diagram fuse is number 47 in engine bay https://fuse-box.info/lexus/lexus-rx300-xu10-1999-2003-fuses
  20. Hello Brian and welcome to the LOC. Was the car jumped started? Where has it been stored for the previous 2 years? Have you replaced the key fob battery?
  21. Initially I have to ask, why did you disconnect the Power Steering Module? The code you have relates to the Traction Control System not the Power Steering.
  22. Plus of course they also insisted that they would compensate you for all the unnecessary trauma and stress related to the claim……..not!
  23. Does it smell of mint sauce?
  24. Blimey this stuff must have great health benefits as you breathe it in and wash your eyes out with it, I guess the only purpose of the latex gloves is to keep your hands clean. Surprised the HSE haven’t used this video to demonstrate what not to do when it comes to PPE.
  25. If you think about it in say 10 years time a damaged NX 350 door/wing mirror could result in the car being an insurance write off!
