When I bought my 1994 Celsior I didn’t pay that much attention to the factory floor mats but thought afterwards they needed a good clean. Until I did clean them I never realised they even had a pattern on them! I took them out and put them in the bath with hot water and a washing machine pod. Left them to soak then scrubbed with a nail brush. Rinsed several times and took 3 days to dry.

Low Mile LS430

The tyres alone would have me leaving at that point! 4 different tyres with different qualities all trying to go in 4 different directions at the same time on a supposedly pristine high performance car. I’m so happy I managed to purchase this genuine fine example with everything sorted prior to buying and just 77,000 miles for a lot less. -

Difficult to diagnose accurately but given the additional information I would first take a look at the cam belt timing, I’m guessing you have no history with the car so do not know if the belt has been replaced at any time. Chances are the belt has slipped resulting in valve/piston contact.....this generally writes off the engine due to cost of required replacement parts and the labour involved.

Hi Neilas and welcome to the LOC. A 4 second video clip doesn’t provide much, is the car yours, what’s it’s history, was it running fine and gone like this or have you bought it like this? At the moment it sounds like someone has removed the normally super smooth V8 and replaced it with a Perkins Diesel engine. The more information you provide the more we can try and help you. 😀

Personally I prefer the same tyre brand on all 4 wheels but acceptable to have the same on just axles. It’s when you have 3 or 4 different brands mixed when it becomes more concerning. The drive axle tyres tend to wear faster so require more frequent replacement, perhaps the same brand were unavailable at the time but providing they meet specification and legal requirements I wouldn’t worry. When it comes to replacements you need to make the decision between Bridgestone and Dunlop or replace all 4 of another brand

Hi Graeme and welcome to the LOC. Did you get the actual code number and was Toyota Techstream diagnostic equipment used? Low battery voltage can cause many issues, is yours fairly new and tested OK? -
From my personal experience with the 1994 I had the dash thump procedure always got the needles ( speedo and tachometer) up and working again with no loss of accuracy. I finally fixed mine for good with the dried up lubricant removal procedure as previously mentioned and applying a little watch lubricant to the shafts. I did have another problem with the speedometer reading very low when cold but this was fixed by replacing the speed conversion module ( KPH-MPH) retrofitted being an import from Japan. I would not recommend trying the lube removal unless you are fairly competent with removing the cluster, opening the cluster with fragile clips ready to break, removing ribbon cables, PCBs and finally the actual needles. Both the Speedo and tachometer needles are the same the only difference is the little PCB sat on the end but this can be interchanged after lifting 4 lugs and pulling of the pins. The one on the left says “SPEED” if you look carefully The stuck needle is due to the surface tension of the excess lubricant between the white plastic which moves away from the metal stop circled in red. The double wound clock spring returns and damps the needle plus carries the high voltage to the needle illumination

Putting the fire out however is apparently another matter. We have all probably seen the Fire Brigade arrive to a car in flames either on TV or witnessed, one pump, one hose and 5 minutes to be out. The problem with electric vehicles according to reports is it can take 2 hours to get an electric car fire under control mainly due to the batteries being fully encased and under the car which if not fully extinguished they can reignite. Some fire departments have been putting cars into a water filled skip to ensure the fire is out The amount of damage to the surrounding area and environmental impacts also increases.
