  1. Welcome back Ruud. I purchased mine in January 2006 with 62,000 KMs the equivalent of 38,000 for £3750 it now has 94,000 so 70,000 miles ( it was converted before purchase).
  2. Hi Don, The company is called Dynamix http://www.dynamixdyes.com/ I purchased a 10 ml bottle to do my shifter and after 3-4 coats there is still loads left so a little goes a long way I picked a suitable colour which was BMW Kastanien brown but like I said send them a sample of what you need and they will match the colour
  3. If it is similar to the LS central locking it may be the motor in the lock assembly,I had the same problem with the front passenger door and replaced the motor from a donor unit, bit of stripping down of both the door and lock assy and a little soldering but cheap!
  4. The majority of cars use the OBDII system or the equivalent European (thank the EU!) EOBD,only the very latest cars have a different system (CANBUS). A basic Fault Code Reader (FCR) will read codes from the OBDII / EOBD systems. The difference in price of the FCR reflects what it does, the very basic £25.00 ones will generally just display the codes and you will then have to look it up in the booklet provided, more up market ones will show the code and its meaning. Again dependent on price some will allow you to reset service lights and the EML after sorting the fault but some functions for ABS systems etc. require a specialised dealer tool for example Vauxhalls Tech 2 system. So it all depends on what you want it to do and how much you want to spend. Car Mechanics magazine recommendations this month go for the Autel MaxiScan MS409 priced around £63.00,this gives all code details, stored codes, freeze frame and live data, check www.talktomycar.co.uk for details
  5. I would ask the horses mouth, Lexus. There is a recall regarding fuel filters but nothing specific on fuel line in so far as I can find http://www.LexusTSB.com/categories/Lexus+LS/LS430/
  6. Hello Mark welcome to the LOC,I'm just up the A610 from you, tell us more about what you do.
  7. Hello and welcome to the LOC,I like the Supra especially the 4 pot calipers that will fit on the LS400 !
  8. I bought some leather paint/dye on ebay to repair my worn out shifter and it worked great and is still looking good some 18 months later,I think I still have the remainder in the car so I will have a look for the manufacturer. It was bought on ebay and although I wasn't bothered about a perfect match they will if you can find a sample swatch match the colour to your finish.
  9. I'd love to help but it's a little too far to come,I will however donate a useful tool which may come in handy for the job!!!
  10. Hello and welcome to the UK LOC. I own a 1994 Toyota Celsior here in the UK. Bear in mind these are all right hand drive models and the speedo normally displays KMs not miles unless converted. There are some in Canada for sure and they are popular in Australia. Cosmetic differences include some models having velour seats instead of leather,no sun/moonroof and most models have traction control, the top range also has massaging rear seats and rear aircon, folding mirrors were an option. If you want more information I would post your questions on the US LOC as the members there will have more input regarding the Celsiors.
  11. He shouldn't be selling cars that don't belong to him either,I don't like the engine size at 20cc I have more on my lawnmower lol. Where it reads 'blemish on front wing" read as DENT!
  12. Yes it is OBDII compliant so must have the connection port,it has to be located within easy reach of the drivers seat position, not sure on the exact location but have a good look under the drivers footwell area under the dash,on earlier models the OBDI port was below the boot and fuel release controls, another place could be inside the centre console possibly with a cover over it.
  13. Hello and welcome to the LOC, With the job you do you will probably get more questions asked than you post lol Some IS owners are now into the interior carbon fibre look.
  14. Strange things happen when the battery is about to fail have you had yours professionally tested?
  15. As above only use Toyota Type IV transmission fluid,it's not cheap here in the UK (It is in the USA) but is the only recommended fluid for this type af Aisin Warner transmission. Fluid should be cherry red on the dipstick.
  16. Hi,welcome to both of you enjoy the Lexus driving experience.
  17. You can't beat a Fluke DVM I have a working 90-92 complete dash if you want to borrow it for testing purposes.
  18. Tipex still has it's uses when making sure things go back to where they were,as already said don't adjust the kickdown cable if the transmission is smooth, over tightening this will result in a fast upshift sequence with jerky shifts.
  19. I have no idea about the springs but superchargers a little, look at the link below for more info or google supercharged UCF10. It is said that some of the JDM Toyota Celsiors were supercharged as standard unfortunately mine isn't one of them! http://www.lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12325
  20. Welcome to the LOC here in the UK. Not sure why the Kenwood needs this connection but I would assume it increases the volume automatically as the speed increases like some satellite navigation systems do. The speed sensor is located on the transmission I believe and this is then fed to the ecu and then to the speedometer. You really need the wiring diagram to locate the required wiring, you can get cheap CD ROM copies on eBay. On the link below is another link detailing the speed sensors http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36161
  21. Ipad it only takes one bad Apple to spoil the barrel!
  22. One of the functions of the EGR system apart from emissions control is it actually cools the exhaust gases, removing the EGR will therefore in theory increase the exhaust gas temperature and therefore as these gases are used to drive the turbocharger result in the turbo running hotter,a hotter running turbo will have a shorter running life. My imported Toyota Celsior the JDM version of the Lexus LS400 does not have an EGR system fitted as they are not required in Japan but my engine is a) petrol and B) non turbocharged so there are no detrimental effects on mine, turbocharged diesel engines are however a different animal. If you EGR valve is clogging frequently there must be another underlying reason for this, poor quality fuel, incomplete combustion, overfueling or I have heard driving style.I have a Citroen Belingo diesel van and having covered over 140,000 miles I have never had a problem with the EGR system.
