  1. Here are the Lexus part numbers if it helps, dealers supply the rubber only so slide out the old one and in with the new one.
  2. So if you put a wet car in a large plastic bag filled with nitrogen it wouldn’t rust because there is no oxygen present. I’m going to try it with a piece of sheet steel and CO2 welding gas......I could be rich 😀
  3. Reading this made me think.........If you kept a car in a pure nitrogen or other inert gas atmosphere would it still rust?
  4. Hi Imran and welcome to the LOC. Easiest way to find out is to take a look under the seats and see if the wiring loom and plugs are there tucked under the carpet. With Lexus they generally are making it easier to upgrade but make sure the replacement seats are for the same year and model as the plugs can change.
  5. Hi James, You need to get those codes read as it could be a multitude of things, personally given the age and mileage of the car my money would be on the O2 sensor or exhaust related problem like a blowing Y section or EGR pipe but this is pure speculation. Get the codes and come back with them. BTW I notice your fuel gauge shows full, is this also faulty as £50.00 doesn’t even get me half a tank these days 😀
  6. I would be looking at the UCA bushes and ball joints and LBJs, these are very heavy cars so expect suspension wear.
  7. Weird place for a rust spot when it’s not directly subject to road crud and salt. Have you checked the door seal in the same area for any lodged stones or grit which may have abraded the paint through? No spillages like cola in the area, that stuff seems to eat through anything The sill cover needs to come off to determine the full extent but if it has not spread under it take it back to clean metal, prime and touch up paint. For the seats maybe a coloured leather restorer product which would help fill in the tiny cracks and blend in the rest.
  8. I wonder if the instructions are for a LHD car so the key needs to be placed on the driver’s seat to be in range during final set up? Have you also considered taking both keys to an auto locksmith as they can normally clone from the master key?
  9. First course of action is to go back over the work you did checking for trapped wiring or dislodged plugs from sockets. Did you move the front passenger seat back for better access? There are SRS connectors under the seat. SRS connectors are generally yellow plugs/sockets and wiring so easy to spot. If you do find something disconnect the battery and leave for 10 minutes to discharge the airbag system or something may go off in your face. After that Techstream diagnostics.
  10. ABS faults TBH are a PITA. Reluctor rings rust and even split open giving poor signals to the wheel sensors which being magnetic pick up road crap affecting their operation. Replacing either is both labour intensive for the reluctor rings and seized in sensors. Can you access live data on your Techstream ?
  11. I don’t see how they can deny responsibility for the battery damage when it was driven to them and needed to be driven inside for the MOT. It got to be top of the list when welding a vehicle.....always disconnect the battery which I would assume includes the hybrid pack.
  12. What are the 2 remaining codes? Do you have the wiring diagram? The 40/60A fuses can be checked for voltage presence at the relays.
  13. By coincidence I’m in Menorca right now, my intention is to never pay another pound in income tax or NI. Can’t improve my state pension further even if I pay more in and the other half lost 6 years of state pension after the sneaky age increase from 60 to 66.
  14. After taking voluntary redundancy from my job in February 2021 I quite fancied a part time job of 12 hours a week delivering for a well known frozen food retailer in my local area after speaking to one of the delivery guys. ”Pop into the store with your CV” but on doing so was told that paper CVs were not acceptable or local interviews performed due to data protection. ”You need to apply online via our agency” Sign up to agency....yet another company that now has my data, this linked to the retailer’s own recruitment website ( so why the agency?) from there I filled out the online application, eventually attached my CV and confirmed I had watched the 2 videos. Received a confirmation and 3 weeks later nothing, checked again for the job and it was no longer listed within the 600 other delivery driver vacancies so I assume filled. I didn’t particularly need the money, the job was more about the social aspects but given you really need a degree in computing just to apply and then hear nothing more I’ll stick to my original early retirement plans. I may try the Co-op, do they still have those bikes with the side stand and baskets on the front for the Hovis 😀
  15. So did you thank them for sending out completely misleading emails and effectively wasting your time and money attending. If demand is outstripping supply why the need for this event, surely it should happen if they need to sell surplus stock. Sounds like a case for the ASA to investigate their unsubstantiated claims and false promises.
  16. Hi Bob and welcome to the LOC. Have you tried pressing the key fob door unlock button twice? Also check fuse No.2 in the passenger side fuse box
  17. What are the “several things” you have already tried?
  18. James was so pleased to receive such kind compliments about his car, he later discovered his car key was missing but thought it would turn up and went to bed. The next morning he discovered that his Lexus ES300h was gone.......a familiar looking lawnmower now stood in its place.
  19. I do hope the handover followed the correct protocol and the lawnmower had a full tank of fuel 😀
  20. You don’t like Tesla, the electric cars you do like are out of your price range so the compromise is stick with the Lexus surely?
  21. With hot wire MAFs it is usually recommended just to spray on the cleaner then allow it to air dry, physical cleaning by brushing for example can damage them. Also recheck you haven’t missed something off like a plug or vacuum hose.
  22. Lotus....don’t they have the same bodywork as Robin Reliants? 😀😀😀
