  1. No disrespect intended but the Met police seemed to have an unlimited “bandwidth” in certain parts of London yesterday. Surprised any police force in this country doesn’t use ERNIE to randomly produce a crime number.
  2. Those were the days 😀 My late Father worked at a Shell “garage” as they were known in the early 1960s and sometimes used to take me with him. I still remember the pneumatic rubber hoses lying across the exit/entry points which rang a bell in the office when cars drove over them alerting the staff. Various grades were on offer from 2 to 5 stars, all leaded of course priced around 3/6 a gallon (17.5p).
  3. Yay.....WFAP.......We Find Any Part 😀
  4. Rockauto have loads, OK you have shipping and VAT to prepay but they still probably work out cheaper than UK prices. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/lexus,1993,ls400,4.0l+v8,1187489,brake+&+wheel+hub,brake+pad,1684
  5. Hi Joseph, welcome to the LOC and Lexus ownership. Have a look at the link below for accessories, by coincidence this is Lexus Poole so I hope the supply is better than the hospitality 😀 Personally I would have helped myself to a couple of cans of pop from their fridge. https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product-category/accessories/?make=311&model=328
  6. This may help, fuse 46 engine bay box is for the horn but also states “Headlight Switch” https://fuse-box.info/lexus/lexus-sc430-z40-2001-2010-fuses
  7. Totally agree with Colin’s comments above. The fact that regenerative braking is used and even Lexus dealer servicing tends to omit calliper slide pin maintenance it can only add to known brake problems exhibited across the range.
  8. Hi Mike and welcome to the LOC and Lexus ownership. I don’t own a hybrid myself but you have to bear in mind that regenerative braking is used and because of this conventional hydraulic braking is not used constantly as with non hybrids. Given the above and the newness of the car it may just be the brakes have not yet bedded in, the same effect occurs when new brake pads are fitted and the pedal feel improves with use. Perhaps also mention this to the dealer on your service visit. Finally don’t forget Lexus have personal customisation options which will be done to your choice FOC on first service so if you want door locking changes etc take a on the link below. https://support.lexus.com/s/article/What-are-Lexus-Person-8307
  9. Hi Aadil, if the same clocks are used in the IS250 UK model you may be able to fit the complete cluster. This was done in my Celsior before I purchased it and the mileage was also corrected to match. Does your cluster show both MPH and KPH? If it does you can buy a a 4 wire convertor.
  10. From the exploded parts diagram it appears to be as Phil has correctly suggested the solenoid sticking (circled in the picture). Removing the steering column shroud should gain access to it for testing and hopefully just lubrication. Worst scenario is get another from a scrapper.
  11. Hi, It should be available from the link below. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/manuals
  12. What I am struggling to understand is you see TV advertisements from energy suppliers blowing their trumpet for 100% renewable energy. I cannot see how this claim can be completely true given that we have a National Grid and electricity going on the grid is also generated from other non renewable means e.g. gas, oil or nuclear. Looking at the definition below how can they justify another large increase in electricity prices unless the wholesale price of the sunlight and wind have increased dramatically if, as claimed, you receive only a 100% renewable supply. renewable energy noun energy from a source that is not depleted when used, such as wind or solar power. "the environmental benefits of renewable energy"
  13. A “possible” cause and they want £1100.00! For that outlay I’d want a written confirmation it would fix the problem. If I am correct the sensor is the Pressure Differential one and sure enough the Lexus price is £669.63 but £400.00 to fit it! Plenty of breakers on eBay, buy the part secondhand and get your local garage to fit it. Must admit I’ve not seen any other reports of this sensor failing, usual Check VSC cause is an O2 sensor.
  14. I notice it states FSH in the heading but the L is missing, in the description it then states “good history” MOT history has fails and advisories for tyres, worn brake pads several times which given its “FSH” is slightly alarming, a tyre fail on the 1st MOT more so. It may be one owner but a caring owner who continues to drive with defective brakes and worn out tyres maybe not.
  15. There was a recall for this problem and a modified engine ECU was fitted but that was too long ago to be of any use now. I would begin with checking all the vacuum pipes ( they are everywhere) for tightness and fitting ( they tend to crack where they push on). Throttle butterfly plate tends to get carbon build up blocking the bleed air hole. IACV have been known to go faulty, the earlier version was rebuildable but the later is a sealed unit. Plus all the previous suggestions. Keeping the AC on all the time may help as it increases the idle speed slightly, the difference in MPG is negligible given the engine size and it also helps everything lubricated. Any white smoke cloud from the exhaust on a cold start up?
  16. I had this fault on a series IV LS400 and it turned out to be a build up of grit and metallic particles on one of the ABS wheel sensors. This decreases the gap between the sensor and toothed reluctor ring and gives false readings to the computer. The problems in sorting the issue are removing the sensors which after extracting the single retaining bolt tend to still be stuck in the hub and gaining enough access to the reluctor rings to give them a good clean. It is also a known problem that the reluctor rings can crack so check also for this. IIRC it was the rear nearside on mine probably due to the rears accumulating more road crud and more gutter crap on the nearside. Symptoms are as you describe and also the brake pedal lifting slightly under your foot with the grunching ( new word?) sound.
  17. Hi ERri and welcome to the LOC. First things I would check are transmission and differential mountings also prop shaft rubber couplings.
  18. I would certainly recheck the level as the first course of action, from my Rover 825 days I understand correct fluid levels are critical for reliable operation.
  19. Just rechecked Malc, only fetched £2150.00, had I known that you’re right I would have bought it back.
  20. Looking at this example I’m so glad I managed to purchase the one I did and again thank a fellow member for stepping aside to allow it. I paid less than he did with everything done, nearly half the mileage and apart from a switch illumination problem it’s been brilliant.
  21. I have discovered since the price of petrol shot up I don’t seem to get as many miles for £40.00 worth. I have however saved money as the grass has only needed cutting twice so far this season
  22. Just looked up the earlier 1UZ-FE engine where a coolant pipe is fitted as circled between the block and intake. Does this mean that using advanced technology it was replaced by a cover sealed with a tube of special sealant at $120.00 a pop?
