  1. Hi Olly and welcome to the LOC. You ask a slightly concerning question, could I ask why you want to know the location?
  2. Admittedly prices have gone through the roof, Japanese imports have quadrupled in price from a year or two ago, the shipping alone is now more than the cars were. Add in the taxes and registration fees on top and it’s no longer viable.
  3. Rot has set in so approaching its Use by Date me thinks, if anyone does buy it you can borrow my MIG welder 😀 Wrong carpet in boot, rear seats crushed by child seats and a good valet needed. Wouldn’t consider it at half the price.
  4. Bit strange it failed it’s first MOT and got an advisory for worn suspension bushes at 38,000 miles. I would check the service history very carefully to confirm all the suspension faults were rectified by Lexus especially “misting shock absorbers” A fail on a tyre worn down to the cords is also concerning, did the previous owner never check them? Also look at the tyres presently fitted, are they at least the same brand on axles if not all around, odd unknown makes all around would put me off.
  5. According to the website I have to pay £8.00 a day in Bristol and £9.00 in Birmingham but free in all other cities. All that comes up on the .gov checker is a blue Toyota as my road tax is based on engine size not emissions. Could someone check theirs if they own a 2004 LS 430, be interesting to see how they compare to my import.
  6. Hello Harry and welcome to the LOC. Do you mean the engine is producing smoke?
  7. Hi Paul and welcome to the LOC. How did your garage check the suspension components? A visual check would be unlikely to reveal any faults as it needs to be lifted off the ground to take off the weight then use a pry bar in every joint to check for excessive movement. A lot of garages now have “Shaker Plates” fitted to ramps which simulate road conditions but allowing stationary inspection. Favourites are as you mention top mounts, lower ball joints and upper control arms. Brake callipers can also cause knocking. With the cost of new Lexus parts accurate diagnosis is needed! I wouldn’t normally suggest Halfords but they tend to offer free checks and in your situation I feel a second opinion is required.
  8. I would at this point be thinking of having the suspension checked at an independent garage looking specifically for damaged or new components as it does appear to have been taken out of the dealership and driven.
  9. Hi Charles and welcome to the LOC. From your short video clip it sounds to me like the DMF is failing. Have a look at the topic linked below.
  10. Hi John and welcome to the LOC. As you have already discovered parts for the early models are now mostly obsolete and any remaining stock of rubber hoses will be well past their useful life. It may be worth trying to get them custom made, although most are in the USA I did find the UK based company below ( I have no interest or affiliation with it and there may be others). https://www.jsperformance.co.uk
  11. Before I read the complete sentence I had visions of your expected new family addition being put in the boot along with the shopping. 😀
  12. Wow 22,000 miles in 18 months it must have been serviced 3-4 times already. Do you have unlimited mileage on the PCP contract? It would take around 11 years for mine to get another 22k on the odometer 😀
  13. Hello Maciej and welcome to the LOC. I found a similar topic linked below which may help but check the clutch switch first if a manual car and also try pressing the start button twice.
  14. Just to stay on the topic of insurance no claim attempted but carrier gave all EMA passengers a £10.00 voucher, complimentary inflight drinks, seat reservation refunds and meal refunds.
  15. Discovered this on a recent Jet2 flight when they combined 2 into 1 so we flew EMA to BHX then to destination.
  16. Just returned from a fortnight in Pefkos Rhodes. Hotel was maybe 25% occupied, same with beach sun beds and restaurants but the flights were almost full both legs. Only saw a handful of people with masks on apart from the Chinese “massage massage” girls on the beach who all had them on. Back on topic my insurance premium halved on renewal but this was due to having no NCB the previous year having gone from “Classic car insurance” back to mainstream.
  17. Just as a comparison and of course a bit of useless information the LS400 with RWD has a turning circle of 10.6m, a FWD BMW Mini is 11m. The ultimate of course is the “London Taxi” with a required maximum turning circle of 7.62m (25 feet) to ensure they can turn round at the Savoy Hotel without reversing.
  18. James, being in lane 3 was there a BMW, Audi or Mercedes 10 yards behind you in the rear view camera shot 😀😀
  19. I once had an old Mini that wouldn’t engage reverse but that was easy enough to push backwards 😀 I would first lift off the wood trim and take a look for something stuck in the selector gate. It sounds more of a mechanical selector problem than a transmission fault.
  20. There are joints, seals and unions everywhere but they run at the top of the bumper cover so a little easier to access.
  21. Do we have a new trend here I wonder? One Lexus dealership asking £150.00 for tracking and now this one asking the same for AC. Covid financial recovery program?
  22. Take a look at the socket Chris, if it’s white and round OBDI if oblong OBDII. From what I remember Oct 1994 was the last model with OBDI.
