  1. Surely if you signed a finance agreement with specified interest rates it has to be honoured or would it not be a breach of contract by Lexus finance?
  2. Is this any good? If you click on the first thumbnail you can scroll through all 8 images. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-2nd-gen-1998-2005/295435-wiring-diagram-help.html
  3. This on top of Tesco’s withdrawal of free electric car charging last week…where will it all end? 8 million with no off street charging availability…I’m now waiting for the first no win no fee claim for someone tripping over the cable laid across the pavement. ”Been injured by an electric car charging cable that wasn’t your fault? You may be entitled to compensation. Call our 24 hour claims line now”
  4. I can’t recall ever seeing a lead acid battery powered milk float ever broken down due to flat batteries. Simple technology with batteries strapped together a DC traction motor and a speed controller. The milk also came in recyclable bottles delivered and collected from your doorstep. 30 odd years later how technology has moved on.
  5. Belt is a stretch fit so no tensioner, probably the reason why the WP bearings have failed but at least an easier replacement than a cam belt driven pump.
  6. Strange part to be missing, part number is 44758-50021 Amayama have them still listed at £7.30 but with £17.43 shipping maybe not. I would be looking for a breaker on Fleabay or contact Paul Frost who is generally happy to remove and post small items at a reasonable price.
  7. Ts & Cs appear pretty much the standard get out clause but is there a difference between “wear and tear” and “fair wear and tear” given the fault is known and one owner had it occur at 31,000 miles. I never saw any seat runner problems with the 1 million mile 25 year old LS400 reported. ”Excessive play” so worn wheel bearings, ball joints and steering racks wouldn’t be covered also? If the movement becomes more pronounced could this defect given time become an MOT failure under section 2.7? The only way to find the true answer is a dealer visit.
  8. Looking at this you should be covered by the Lexus 12 month service warranty even if services have been missed. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/warranty/lexus-warranty
  9. You can’t get the little bits either, I wanted a windscreen washer non return valve priced around £4.00 and that was NLA.
  10. Given the complexity of hybrid vehicles and the time of day I would suggest calling your breakdown service or phone a friend who has cover as a passenger and get the car either taken home or the dealership. One thing you could try is to remove the 12 volt battery negative lead for a short while, reconnect it and hope it is just a system reset problem.
  11. Hi Paul, welcome to the LOC and congratulations on your choice of new Lexus. Waiting times aren’t getting any shorter but in your case good timing, just make sure your order is confirmed in writing as another member recently discovered the order had not been submitted several months later.
  12. Did the “expert” replace the tyres FOC with the correct ones?
  13. That’s a good price for a used car dealer sale with all the associated consumer protection rights. OK it could do with some paint and the windscreen needs to come out to sort the top frame properly. No MOT fails or mentions of corrosion is a real bonus. Looks like a solid base for a project if you wanted to get it nice.
  14. The solenoid is highlighted, the button is to the right and of course being Lexus there is also a shift lock solenoid computer at the rear of it. Normally a combination of dust, crud and carpet fluff causes issues, access is tight but a paint brush and vacuum would be the starting point for a clean out after removing the wood trim. ( use a wallpaper scraper with a layer of electrical insulation tape to prise it up at the rear sides).
  15. One needs 5kg of MIG wire and the other could result in a custodial sentence 😀
  16. One pre import picture, car apparently due mid October, and a dubious Trustpilot rating mmmmm. https://www.desperateseller.co.uk/cars-for-sale/advert/140/103298?utm_source=newsnow&utm_medium=Syndication&utm_campaign=[S]_[StockSyndication]_[Newsnow]
  17. It sounds like the blowing Y pipe on the exhaust fail, even a decent weld job doesn’t result in a permanent repair, new sections are now NLA and were £500.00 odd when they were with no aftermarket replacements.
  18. Mine had, fortunately, already been converted before purchase using a USA sourced conversion kit from Strutmasters. I can’t compare air to springs obviously but the ride is fine to me and zero problems. Cost of the kit, I think, was less than one replacement air strut from Lexus plus a few hours labour.
  19. I would insist on the paperwork, we recently had another member order a new Lexus only to discover months later it hadn’t been processed!
  20. I see it as not so much a “tiny” job Malc. Wheel arch rot, sill rot, suspension mounting rot, by the time you have cut back to good steel you will be faced with hours of fabrication, welding, grinding and painting. There was a post a few years ago where a member did a similar repair on an IS200 faced with multilayer sills and arch repairs. Ended up weeks of DIY work but imagine the cost if done by a professional. By coincidence brake hoses were on Rockauto clearance last week for a few $$$, the oil leaks mentioned are probably seals and rocker cover gaskets but getting hold of OEM springs has become a challenge.
  21. Just spotted this on Fleabay, £2500 for a 1997 LS400 MOT failure which the bit of a car dealer seller describes as needing a few brake pipes! https://tinyurl.com/yc2w75bd Let’s have a look at the MOT failures and the “honest” description. As usual my MIG welder is available to any potential buyers 😀
  22. Hi Daniel and welcome to the LOC. The only thing I can suggest on a Sunday evening is to disconnect the battery positive lead, give it 10 minutes, reconnect it then see if the window system has reset allowing the window to go back up.
