  1. I would be driving like “Miss Daisy” with mixed types of tyres on. Only had to fit my “Space Saver” once, about 1/3 the width and a weird tread pattern. This combined with “ how tight are the wheel nuts” put me into Daisy driver mode for the 2 mile drive to the tyre depot. Many years ago I had a Rover 216 GTI and I was unaware that the LA had installed road humps on a nearby street I occasionally used. The road is straight and I hit the first one around 30 resulting in the front spoiler being ripped off the car. I successfully claimed for the damage off the LA as they had not marked the humps or put up warning signs, the fact that the humps matched the original road colour didn’t help spotting them either. The next day lines were on and the signs up!
  2. Perhaps you could post up a video to give us a better idea of the noise? Renault Meganes we’re notorious for seized up cable operated window mechanisms due to water and crap ingress but Lexus use the more reliable conventional scissor type arrangement and decent grease.
  3. Remote and accurate diagnosis is impossible but try the above suggestions first then we can go from there if required 😀.
  4. The above post reminded me of a workmate in the 70s who at the time had a Riley Elf. On hearing a squeaking noise he did turn up his radio but very shortly afterwards the car suddenly dropped on the front driver’s side and ground to a halt as his front wheel continued at pace down the road 😀
  5. For an instant I had visions of your passengers strapped to the roof 😀 Good spot though as had it not been used it may not have been discovered until the first MOT and got you a fail.
  6. There are several types, which ones do you need? If you circle them I can give you a part number.
  7. Just realised Autoglym products have a Royal Warrant, I can just imagine the King popping out to clean his car. If it’s good enough for his Majesty it’s good enough for my Lexus 😀
  8. Don’t put silicone on glass, it will smear and is almost if not impossible to remove! I have some Autoglym products for glass cleaning as shown below which are very effective along with their “Glass Polish” Another cause is crud build up in the exterior lower glass seal, I gently pull it back and use an old toothbrush with car wash solution to clean it out before rinsing thoroughly.
  9. I know the feeling, mine announces an expired toll road card and something else in a relaxing female Japanese voice at start up. At least I can now reset the time from memory 😀
  10. Hi Ash and welcome to the LOC. There are a few breakers on fleabay.
  11. Yes it’s now being offered as the prize on a somewhat dubious raffle site (from reading limited reviews and not providing a free postal entry address) coincidentally owned by him also.
  12. I’m confused here as in the opening post you say “I've recently replaced the main beam headlight bulbs on my'07 LS460” but then go on to say in your reply you “haven’t touched the main beam bulbs”
  13. It’s up on some raffle ticket website now. I certainly paid a lot less for my 2004 “fault free” model with half the mileage.
  14. Hi Ross and welcome to the LOC. The bulbs do need to be fitted in a specific position and the lugs normally prevent them being fitted incorrectly but worth rechecking as this is the most likely cause if all OK before replacing. Has it failed the MOT on just the main beam pattern or both dipped and main?
  15. There was only one type of LBJ for all the ISF model years and to confirm they are correct. Good price too 😀
  16. Plus lexusownersclub.com our sister club over the pond 😀
  17. Hi Philip and welcome to the LOC. Looking at your profile ( non UK) and terminology (gas not petrol) I can only advise you to try it. Here in the UK we can only buy E5 or E10 at mainstream gas stations so no ethanol free apart from racetracks.
  18. EBay seems to get worse by the day with misdescribed and poor quality/counterfeit items plus sellers’ attitudes to returns have changed for the worse. Open a SNAD with eBay, if the seller fails to respond within a given timeframe you will get refunded and tend to retain the goods if the seller refuses to pay the return costs. Paypal used to offer return cost refunds but this is being withdrawn probably due to the volume of claims being submitted.
  19. That boot spoiler……the last 3 letters of the number plate describe it perfectly😀
  20. I wonder if the cabin filter has been changed at some time as I understand if not set to the correct mode before replacing damage can occur to the mechanism.
  21. Parts for the early models are becoming more difficult to find every day There are the usual suspects on fleabay, some lowered but obviously need a good search for some decent and safe ones. Coilovers are another option perhaps? https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=lexus+gs300+springs&_sacat=0
  22. If you can get the nuts off (soak with WD40 overnight) you can normally reattach the shield by using large “penny” washers to bridge the enlarged holes. Not having it fitted shouldn’t create any hazards as underbody airflow whilst driving keeps things cooler.
  23. Hi Nigel and welcome to the LOC. As far as I am aware there are no aftermarket alternatives, the same backplates are fitted to various Lexus models but at the same Lexus prices ( around £230.00 each!) Amayama appear to have them in stock which work out cheaper even including VAT and shipping.
  24. Hi Random and welcome to the LOC. Bear in mind these cars have Climate Control and being computer controlled the blower will not operate until the engine has warmed up if the selected cabin temperature is above ambient temperature to avoid blowing cold air into a cold cabin. Did you leave the car running long enough for the coolant to warm up to the normal level on the gauge?
  25. I have one of these, designed to simply fit over the standard UK no parking/waiting restriction signs allowing close and convenient parking in town centres usually right outside the shop.
