  1. Apparently so with the iridium tips, although I’ve heard the tips tend to fall off the counterfeit ones into the cylinders! We never had this problem years ago, how does this crap get into the country?
  2. The steering lock is activated by a separate solenoid known to seize up due to hardened grease and fluff build up, has this been checked?
  3. If only I could still buy my Motorcraft N9Y spark plugs from the local British Leyland service centre. OK I had to replace them every 10,000 miles along with the points but they would certainly not be counterfeit! What’s next counterfeit Lurpak spelt as Urpak!
  4. “Aviva said claims records held on its database for between August 2020 and August 2022 show that the number of cars stolen with keyless entry and keyless start systems were twice the volume of models without the tech.” Would this not suggest 33% of normal cars are stolen compared with 66% of “Smart” cars?
  5. Hi Adrian and welcome to the LOC. Very few members have in the past changed from Lexus to another brand but you never know. Perhaps sell the car via one of the online bulk buyers then buy a decent Lexus with the cash raised?
  6. Lancia Gamma coupe RHD 2.5l 4 cylinder boxer engine in silver, can still see it now.
  7. I will assume the coolant level is correct😀 Good point from Phil, I’ve learnt something new there. Another possible is water collection around the windscreen wiper spindles, there is a drain next to them which tend to get clogged up from leaves etc allowing water to pool around them. Quick visual check with the bonnet up should confirm.
  8. Looks a good one, 28,000 in its first 3 years and very little since, handy not being far away too 😀
  9. Not necessarily correct? I’ve prepaid UK VAT with stuff from Rockauto and some carriers charge an “admin fee” if they have to collect duty. “Goods ordered from a retailer in a foreign country are only exempt from customs duty if they are worth £135 or less and do not contain alcohol or tobacco. These limits also apply to gifts.”
  10. Don’t bother with Ali Express, eBay or any other aftermarket Far Eastern supplier and I’m speaking from experience. No price on the parts website but Amayama have OEM.
  11. It always makes me smile when I see ASDA selling tyres, ASDA or to give it the full name of ASsociated DAiries I assume in the beginning sold dairy products I.e. milk, cream and cheese. They’ve certainly come along way since then as have all the supermarkets. ”Supervisor required at till 3……customer requesting recommended tyre pressures for Firestone 245/45/18 tyres” 😀
  12. John, they are only located in Derby if you want to collect it?
  13. Problem with a used subframe ( if you can find one!) is that it has probably been subjected to the same unkind UK climate and road salt as yours so in a similar condition. The link below is for an import breakers (think Toyota Harrier) who may be able to help supply a decent one off an imported model. https://nipponautospares.com/rx300-45-c.asp
  14. Hi Tony and welcome to the LOC. Wise move in case you ever lose your only key. To do any key reprogramming you do need the “master” key, usually the 3 button one?
  15. Very good point made in the above post, the slide pin holes on the calliper carriers being blind do get clogged with old grease. I used the same type brush and isopropyl alcohol to clean out the years of stale grease and crud in there. Given the rubber inserts on the pins I also found that a thin smear of RRG ( Red Rubber Grease) provided long lasting lubrication.
  16. Try this, put the key/fob close to the start button, press start button and leave for 10 minutes with fob in car. Turn car off then on again and see if it now starts. If not you’re going to need a code read. Make sure the battery is fully charged first!
  17. Around £25.00 for the top clamp and 2 threaded hooked sections, bolts from the shed M6 I think
  18. I run mine at 32 PSI all round with no wear problems, 245/45/18 (100Y) P Zeros.
  19. Hello McDonald and welcome to the LOC. I’ll take it you have petrol in the tank. What is the security light doing, flashing, constantly on or off? Did this occur after anything being done to the car? A little more information will help us to help you 😀
  20. Nothing showing on the exploded diagram, could you post up a picture?
