I would remove the cover and check the bulb, if it’s conventional it should have the rating on the end cap.

Located in front of the engine coolant radiator so unfortunately exposed to the elements and debris damage.

When was the cam belt last replaced? The earlier models up to October 1994 had non interference engines but later models with higher compression ratios became interference. At one time engines could be got for £500.00 or so but with less survivors now finding a good one for less than £1K could be a challenge.

I kept my 1994 LS400 ( JDM Toyota Celsior) for just under 16 years and had it not been for the opportunity to purchase a newer model I would probably still have it now. During my ownership I did all the usual fails like the climate control LCD, starter motor and the steering tilt repair, carried out all my own servicing and kept on top of regularly washing and waxing including under washing once a year and wheel arch clean outs. In all that time it had 2 daft MOT fails, one for corroded rear brake pipes and never an advisory. Since parting with it the car has changed owners at least twice and is now I believe Sorn with an expired MOT. If I had the garage space and money to keep both cars I would have done because I know I would never find another in the same condition for reasonable cost.

I bet they don’t give the mini valet or fuel top up any more either.

I have the best of both worlds a Toyota Celsior.

It costs 50p at my local filling station to check/ adjust tyre pressures which no doubt includes 20% VAT so we are already paying that tax 😀 Fortunately I have a compressor and digital pressure gauge so don’t have to donate further. Carrier bags are my favourite, I would rather struggle than pay the bag tax!

You can guarantee if this is implemented the “tyre tax” will go on then the 20% VAT on top.

With no leather and manual seats I would say the base SE model. It’s a Lexus so you still get plenty of goodies 😀

Good to hear, if you’re changing all the bushings you could even have it blasted and power coated first. Did you get your dog to open the box or was it more of a kid with a Christmas present moment for you 😀

It looks in new showroom condition, for £4K you’ve done really well. Combining your enthusiasm for care and maintenance it will serve you well.

Amayama list the condenser for £209.00 but there is another £123.00 for shipping from Japan then import charges on top so £400.00 supplied sounds reasonable. If the total price also includes gas recovery, purging and refilling, given the price of refrigerant that seems also reasonable. The receiver dryer is also normally replaced at the same time so getting that thrown in too would be a bonus. I think Lexus is the best choice for getting the job done properly in this case.

Regarding the last sentence of the above post make sure the steering wheel tilt and telescope work as expensive failed motors tend to not get replaced leaving the steering in a fixed position.

Funnily enough I got bored waiting outside the vets this week so decided to read the handbook on memory seat adjustments. Following the book I pressed set and 1 to save the current position and then pressed 2. The seat back came up first to near vertical, the base dropped down but then the seat began moving forward and continued. With my knees now impacting the dash I quickly pressed 1 again to avoid being crushed. I closed the handbook and put it back in the dash box. The cat is fine and enjoyed a rear seat massage on the way home 😀

OK, mine measures 26” from the ground to the top of the front of the seat base, bear in mind that the seat base can be height adjusted so you can raise the front. Not sure if the car can be left in this mode when parked but could the air suspension be left in the high setting thereby raising the seat height further then switched back to normal once in and seated.
