  1. Yes, that’s what I would do, TBH I’m surprised it even provided power never mind cranked the engine. Disconnect from car…check electrolyte levels….fully charge….reconnect then try it again.
  2. Would the above 2 members please bear in mind most members are not motor traders and the LOC is not affiliated to WBAC, Motorway or any other car companies. If you want to get an idea of your vehicle’s value perhaps a search of Autotrader or Ebay may provide the information you seek. If you then proceed to selling your cars then please feel free to place a post in the “Cars for sale” section of the forum following the required format.
  3. Did you just leave the battery disconnected then reconnect after 2 years or regularly charge the battery during this time? In other words was the battery maintained and fully charged before reconnection to the car.
  4. I must have bucked the trend this renewal with fully comprehensive at £317.00 including excess cover and legal protection on a JDM import, 6% less than last year.
  5. I have a spare space saver rim suitable for a Lexus ( 5 stud PCD 114.3) so will fit all except the CT200h and LS600h. It will need a new tyre as the original although unused has perished due to aging. May also have the jack and wheel brace too. Free to collect from Derbyshire.
  6. Hi Nic and welcome to the LOC. Looks like a very good example you have bought there 😀
  7. Hi Michelle, If you could post up the model year and a photograph if possible of the pipe (or the general area) I can look up the exploded diagram for you and advise further.
  8. It would appear that the hinges are not available as a separate part only as a complete glovebox door. At a list price of over £300.00 new I would be looking at a used one, from the exploded diagram it would appear the hinge can be removed and swopped over for your broken one. I noticed that the LS430 glovebox has limited travel so doesn’t open as much as my old LS400 making it slightly awkward.
  9. It sounds a bit iffy to me, can’t contact Lexus Derby? Phone number is on google! Perhaps a Lexus Derby buyer has thrown the toys out of the pram and in order to pacify your car has now become someone else’s.
  10. Having done a bit of research I discovered that the tilt/telescope function can be turned off with Techstream so if it has never worked maybe worth a look. As usual Lexus use a “Tilt and Telescopic Computer” to control the functions, I did have the full Lexus electrical manual for this car but sold it on to a fellow member some time ago and cannot now remember who but if you are that member please chip in. The only info I could find was part of the wiring diagram below. I assume you have already checked any relevant fuses but the 2 associated fuses also power other things so unlikely.
  11. Hi Wil and welcome to the LOC. Apologies for the late reply. One of the many good things about Lexus cars is, as you have already discovered, they tend to fit the full wiring harness to all models so retrofitting heated and electric seats is generally “Plug and Play” Obviously you would need to source the seats, switch panel and maybe fit an extra fuse or two but they are basically 4 bolts and a couple of connections. A wiring diagram would be useful and usually found from a search.
  12. You mention the door locks are intermittent and from past experience the door lock actuators or more specifically the motor inside them are known to fail as the brushes wear out. On my previous LS400 the offside rear door one failed and at 20MPH the automatic door lock system kicked in but continually cycled due to the failed actuator. If the actuator stops between locked and unlock this could result in a totally confused ECU which in turn could result in further problems just from the fact the ECU is now in limbo. Jump in the car and try locking and unlocking the doors several times with the key fob and see if one of them fails to lock/unlock. I may be miles away here but thought it worth mentioning.
  13. If you do decide to replace the motor below is a good tutorial. Price from Amayama also but bear in mind you may have to pay the VAT in addition on the total price £186.89 but still around a 50% saving! https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/8923150050
  14. I had a similar situation with my front UCAs on my previous LS400, they squeaked when going over the local road humps but only when the car was just started from cold, ambient temperature made no difference. A quick trip to the shop and coming back no noise. Silicone spray grease on the bushings sorted the problem so became a routine treatment when the wheels were off for yearly servicing. I did end up having to replace a complete front UCA after a pothole took out the ball joint, at the time a genuine Lexus part was listed at £521.00 but I was lucky to find the same on eBay for around £150.00!
  15. With no warning lights on it doesn’t sound like the belt has failed as it powers the alternator amongst others. Have you checked the reservoir fluid level? If all good above the favourite is the pump having failed.
  16. As soon as pigeons started using laser targeting guidance I knew there would be consequences with open bomb doors 😀
  17. Hi Gary and welcome to the LOC. Blimey I’ve seen this car appear and disappear many times over the years, apparently only 2 or 3 were built with one being totalled. I assume having gone into limp mode the Engine Management Light is illuminated? Paperclip diagnostics on this one. Price wise no idea, pretty sure I’ve seen it sold for £2-3k in the past, if you search the forum you should find previous related posts. Here you go, happy reading https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/search/?&q=Allard&quick=1&item=143381&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy
  18. Purely out of curiosity do you still get the toolkit with a couple of spanner’s, 2 way screwdriver and the famous Lexus torch in the newer cars?
  19. Initially when I looked through the quote I thought it was expensive but having checked the retail prices it’s not too bad when it includes labour and I would assume sundries such as gaskets and fluids. Just another thought, as a LOC Gold member have you asked the dealer for a discount? Even 10% would be a significant saving or to look at it another way and more satisfying half the VAT back. Finally it all depends on what they find during the service checks as to whether there may be additional costs, the favourite “Your brake pads are below recommended thickness by 0.27mm”
  20. Other possible causes are manufacturing defects, “kerbing” of the wheel although I would in this case expect rim damage also and finally driving up onto and off curbs other than dropped kerbs. Regarding potholes I reported a cluster of them to the local authority wrongly thinking that one report would cover them all. Out of 4 within 0.5 metres of each other they repaired just one of them. It was only after further communication they returned to complete the job.
  21. The optional extras list for BYD cars is amazing but a little restricted for UK models (115-121a)
  22. I can’t understand why it has a snow plough fitted, does this not affect the drag coefficient? I see where they got their design ideas from.
  23. There again you could place your phone behind the car and record as video then watch to see if all the lights come on. Once you are happy you can then put it on tik tok/Facebook/YouTube where it could go viral and people will then stop you in the street wanting to check your brake lights and have a selfie taken with you 😀
