  1. Well if it’s as slow as the recent recalls I wouldn’t hold your breath.
  2. The sensors can suffer from water ingress not helped by where they are unavoidably positioned. There have been reports of repair success by removing the sensor cover and cleaning the electrical tracks within it. Given that the suspension is not sinking overnight and rising when switched to high I would concur it is more likely to be the sensor than the strut, the hissing noise is just the exhaust port opening to lower the car, the same will happen if you place the suspension into high then back to normal on all the struts. One thing to check is the link bar from the sensor to the suspension, these consist of an aluminium bar with a swivel joint on each end. They have a tendency to corrode and then break off at the joint. A quick look on eBay shows new sensors for around £100.00, as for the quality I don’t know but maybe worth it at that price compared to OEM prices. https://tinyurl.com/mukbt5w3
  3. Probably changed his mind given that the RX450h is amongst the top ten stolen cars in the UK with the last one reported on here today!
  4. Is this something else that’s disappeared from Lexus servicing then the fixed price for various jobs like brake pads and discs for older models? Just looked on Google and nothing showing up. What with the stolen RX450h saga and now this I’m pretty pleased I have nothing to do with Lexus stealers.

Disposal of your old wipers without your consent could be considered as theft, they were your property and should have been returned to you at which point you could ask them to dispose of them. £90.00 for a pair of wipers….ridiculous! Since the change in servicing policy rip off seems to be the new Lexus policy.
  6. It’s absolutely diabolical that a known issue is basically being ignored by Lexus, it takes something for a car to appear in the top ten of stolen cars and I would expect more from a prestige manufacturer than an ostrich with its head in the sand. No doubt if this was the USA Lexus would be taking this seriously and have a modification already in place to avoid a class action suit resulting in RX450h vehicles being returned to the dealers forecourt for a full refund. Being the UK it’s a case of put up and shut up even when that insurance renewal hits the carpet with double the premium!
  7. Never heard of this model before, has anyone else or does anyone have one? https://carfromjapan.com/cheap-used-lexus-hs-for-sale
  8. Possibly, there is a thermistor temperature sensor mounted behind a little colour coded intake grille on the left side of the driver’s footwell, look at the parking brake then look slightly left on the side carpet area. Cabin air is sucked past the sensor and that provides the required data to maintain the set cabin temperature. Problems develop when carpet fluff clogs up the vent and sensor. A blast with compressed air through the intake grille normally clears it.
  9. Hi Reinaldo, Unfortunately most members on the UK club only speak English and my Dutch is very limited, may I suggest perhaps the European LOC which although German based may help you better with the sale.
  10. Just had a look on my database and even that doesn’t give specific details like length, diameter or thread pitch. Part number comes up different to what you have at 90901-05010 priced at a ridiculous £12.00 each!
  11. Never known one fail but the valves certainly do. The other end of the cable goes to an actuator which are normally buried deep behind the dash. I don’t have access to my database at the moment but can check in a couple of days.
  12. I got a wood transmission knob for my LS430 (Fits the later LS400) from Paul Frost (Lexussparesdirect), he may be able to help with the steering wheel too.
  13. Unusual for the 4 pot callipers to seize but with little use possible, while you’re in there with the cam belt/water pump replace the radiator if not already done. They have an integrated transmission cooler which fails internally mixing coolant with transmission fluid resulting in wrecked transmission.
  14. So good to hear you are all recovering well with no life changing injuries, at the end of the day a car is just a lump of shaped metal with a modern design to keep you that way. A car doesn’t have to recover just replaced.
  15. Hi Stacey and welcome to the LOC. Just to confirm are you saying the oil level light is not coming on when the oil level is low or in other words it’s not lighting up when it should?
  16. I’ll bring it back on topic. Care to reveal the price of the windscreen Kieran? Just curious how it compares with the other options mentioned and do they have more stock?
  17. That’s a very generous offer Nick, very useful for a current owner and if not needed immediately still good to buy and save until they are. I can’t see them being available for very long.
  18. Hi Martin and welcome to the LOC. I’m guessing it’s one of the rear callipers that has “seized” if so it is normally the slide pins which seize not the calliper itself as even with Lexus servicing they do not get removed and re-greased. Early models did suffer from window glass delaminating resulting in cloudy patches but would normally be present by now if it were to occur. Pictures of your car are always welcomed 😀
  19. It should be Toyota pink coolant (Super Long Life), you can buy pre mixed 1ltr bottles from dealers, to be completely sure look in your manual. Here you go https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product-category/cooling-heating/?make=316&model=338
  20. Hi Daniel and welcome to the LOC. Spark plugs are normally part of the “major (expensive)” service at 60k and multiples thereof so next due at 120k. If there are no problems like a misfire and the other servicing is up to date I would wait until then. The plugs used nowadays tend to be iridium tipped with a claimed life of “ up to 100k miles” so should easily manage 60k. One good thing is having a timing chain and not a belt on your engine which on earlier models the belt required replacement on the same timescale. Finally enjoy your new purchase 😀
  21. Hi Ajax and welcome to the LOC. If your car has an alarm/immobiliser fitted bear in mind it can take a while until this “goes to sleep” so current draw will remain higher until this happens. The dome fuse feeds various components including steering tilt and telescope and the door locking system, I did try to find exactly what on a search without success but basically you will need to do is isolate each component until the current draw drops.
  22. Not sure if this practice is down to the “chip shortage” or cost cutting but a brand new car handed over with one fob is ridiculous in my opinion, you could drive it to the nearest petrol station and lose it immediately stranding you there plus the expense involved. My car came with 2 master fobs, 1 “valet” fob and the emergency key.
  23. Hopefully this will help, most car accessory shops will sell the batteries or places like B & M. Even with a depleted battery the car should start if the fob is placed near the start button when pushing it. Finally welcome to the LOC 😀
