  1. It depends on your DIY skills but I have previously made replacement lugs and brackets on a 3D printer using PLA then plastic “welded” them onto the original position of the broken one reinforcing with wire if needed.
  2. I can’t believe how much these parts have gone up in price! It seems everything has doubled. An Aisin timing belt kit was around the £200.00 mark. My Celsior is getting ready for brake pads and even the “budget” Lexus ones from LPD are £80.00 per axle and it wasn’t that long ago they were £40.00 for originals.
  3. This one is tempting https://tinyurl.com/jtbayb8r
  4. Hi Stefan and welcome to the LOC, as you have already discovered our members are all happy to help with any questions and we are one of the most friendly forums. Given your username I would assume you live near a pub by the same name near to the M1 junction 29? 😀
  5. I don’t see why not as there will be zero difference regarding that area, they seemed to be a bit picky before 2006 when JDM models were still badged as Toyotas.
  6. I’m confused here…your profile name says Derek?
  7. Difficult to comment without looking, could you post the links up for both of them?
  8. I have found this! https://tinyurl.com/bdc6k35t and this https://tinyurl.com/nrp5fxzc
  9. Here you go, have a chat with them, I know other members have used them for exhaust repairs. https://www.tonybanks.co.uk
  10. Hi Eileen and welcome to the LOC. From looking at the picture the crack is significant and given the rust finding clean metal to weld a plate on is not going to be easy. The clamp may work with some additional exhaust sealing paste but again if the pipe it is being clamped to is also weak the clamps may either crush it or cause further fractures. Unfortunately as with all other Lexus models there are no aftermarket options for this section of exhaust and as you mention the price is ridiculous. If you could find a local independent garage with decent welding and fabrication skills it may be your best and cheapest option. I seem to remember there may be one in Leeds, Tony Banks can anyone confirm? 17410 PIPE ASSY, EXHAUST, FRONT 17410-31560 *114=TOYOTA/GD8/Y 1 € 1,432.12 17410B
  11. Sounds like a wheel bearing on its way out or seized brake calliper syndrome, should be covered under warranty if still valid for either.
  12. I also once bought a 1991 XM for £80.00, it cost me another £200.00 at a local Citroen independent ( Woodlinkin Citroen) to get it on the road with new spheres and an MOT. Ran it for nearly a year and got £400.00 part ex on a Rover 820.
  13. Sounds like a good purchase, did you haggle the price or was the tank already full? 😀 Bonus with the service history BTW. The best prices I can find for the tilt motor are on the pictures below.
  14. I have a Mountfield sit on mower which I’m happy to drive down on and cut your grass……….arrr Hertfordshire, no worries I should be there around mid November. 😀
  15. Ola Fran and welcome to the LOC. The car is a 1995-97 model ( series III) not a 1994. Looks like a major project, are you planning on doing all the necessary repairs yourself? Bear in mind that spare parts for this age of LS400 are getting less by the day and expensive if you can find them. What’s the mileage KMs and how long has it been stood? Regarding the transmission are the brakes free? If it has failed cheapest option is a secondhand replacement. It does appear to have air suspension, albeit unusual, replacement struts, if still available are around €1200.00 each although conversion kits to springs may still be around. Sticking speedometer and tachometer needles is a common issue due to excess oil on the stop, a wack on the dash above the cluster with a fist normally releases the needle. You will be very lucky to find anyone repairing the stereo units nowadays and even luckier to find a good working replacement. It’s not just the head unit there is also an amplifier under the seat. Fitting an aftermarket stereo may be the best course to take. A lot of work and cost just to sort out the problems you know about and a lot more for those you don’t yet like brakes, catalytic converter flanges and suspension components. I would be looking at a few hundred Euros for the car and a €10,000 repair budget. At least that is half of the cost of restoring the S500 😀
  16. Check the heater flow valve located on the rear engine bay bulkhead ( remove the engine cover then look at the centre rear of the engine). Warm up the engine and with the climate control set to full hot check if both the water pipes are hot ( inlet and outlet). If not check if the actuator arm moves when you change from full hot to full cold on the climate control. If the arm/lever does move but only the inlet hose is warm the valve has failed internally.
  17. They didn’t all have wood steering wheels, mine albeit a Celsior had a standard one originally I seem to remember being told by Phil and he replaced it with the wood one. According to the mileage the car didn’t move between the last MOT fail and then the pass a couple of weeks later which would suggest it was left at the garage and repaired by them. Given the advisories for brake pads and tyres I can’t see them still being on the car so more likely replaced. What’s the service history particularly regarding the cam belt? From what I can see in the pictures it looks to be in nice condition. Price seems fair for condition and mileage but always worth haggling for a tank of fuel discount 😀
  18. Hi Peter and welcome to the LOC. I can’t offer any advice on what you are looking for apart from a good, preferably Lexus service history, a current hybrid health check and get one of those vehicle checks done on a possible purchase. I’m pretty sure other members will post up with more information and help. Take your time, find the one you want and enjoy 😀
  19. They are still working fine too Phil along with the rest of the car, I jet wash the arches every couple of months so they still look brand new 😀
  20. Have you checked the “Flux Capacitor” ? 😀
  21. Hi Graham and welcome to the LOC. I also looked on the Toyota parts database and cannot find the O ring just the seals. For what they cost I would order the part number you found and see if they fit. I also have the contact details of a company that manufactures O rings who will make them to a custom size with the correct materials for the application. The last ones I bought were the brake reservoir O ring for my 1982 Suzuki GSX250, I did have to buy 10 but resold the rest individually.
  22. Hi Jono and welcome to the LOC. Great diagnostics on the connector, I wonder how many more out there don’t have the pins located correctly. Thanks for posting it up, brilliant first post😀 Can’t believe it was 17 odd years ago when I attended the GS450h launch at Lexus Derby.
  23. The LS400s had a metal reservoir so I would assume that was the reason why the cap had an integrated dip stick. The LS430 has a plastic reservoir so no dipstick required as you can see the level until of course it gets stained.
  24. Hi, could you clarify the model as you have posted in the SC 430 forum but your profile states UX 250h. Also are you replacing the complete mirror or just the glass ?
  25. No I don’t want it……I’m not extending the length of the garage ever again! 😀
