I gets worse,you can actually replace the bearings in both the tensioner and idler pulleys with a quality Japanese bearing costing a couple of pounds. Remove the pulley and drift the old bearing out and a new one in, 30 minutes tops including removal and refittimg If anyone else has the same problem I'm doing a special offer of £299.99 this week only.

At over 21 years old my leather losy that smell many years ago but I purchased some "Leather Aroma" spray that you spray inside the car using one of those pump top bottles. Doesn't seem to last very long but still impresses the occasional passenger:)

Talking of exhausts the OEM Y section is being offered on Amalaya at £148.00 at the moment compared with £400.00 odd here so even taking into account shipping and possible HMRC interest should still work out cheaper should it ever go again.

So it only does this at that temperature and OK when warmer? Is it OK once the engine has warmed up?

Not sure but there should be information in your owner's handbook or on a sticker under the bonnet,plus the change is also based on age so if this is the 1st belt change it is already overdue assuming 100,000 or every 10 years.

They are also not road legal,other motorists will flash you,the police may pull you and the MOT man will fail you :) If you want to upgrade take a look at the uprated EU approved ones from the likes of Philips and Osram.

Concensus of opinion on other forums would suggest a torque setting of 75 inch/pounds no idea what that is in new money :) Apparently the correct torque is critical as both under and over tightening can result in leaks.

Hello and welcome to the LOC. Good examples are becoming hard to find and those that are are fetching some crazy prices (take a look on ebay for the low mileage examples!) Is there any particular year you are looking at, the last model (series IV) is considered by many to be the best of the bunch with all of the niggles from previous years ironed out and of course the specification is higher with built in sat nav for example but even this is outdated by modern standards. The power steering leak is common to the early models and is generally due to the failure of a simple O ring. IIRC the cambelt is a 60,000/6 years for the non VVTI and 100,000/10 years for the latter VVTI model. Time for replacement is around 8 hours, Lexus dealers often offer competitive rates on the job so worth riinging around. He also bought the R reg LPG one I flagged up in Kinross then relisted it for 1395.00. The guy who bought it off him is on the LS400 section on Facebook, apparently needs some front suspension work and the LPG sorting out but no doubt sold as faultless.

I was given a leather care kit from a company called Leathermaster, this contained 2 cleaning solutions (normal and strong) plus leather cream and a little container of ink remover. I find cleaning out the hole with some solvent and a tapered piece of kitchen roll helps to remove any remaining greasy gunge then apply new grease to the pin. The rubber bushes are I believe anti rattle devices. If the pin is rusty or badly pitted it may be worth replacing it for less than a tenner each.

I would have thought "trying it a few times" would have caused valves to hit pistons so you would be extremely lucky to get away with just a belt.

Seeing as the "was it you" sections last post was October 2014 I thought it may get more notice here. So was it 2 of our members driving southbound on the M1 this morning around 8.45am between junctions 25 and 24. The lead car was a modified IS200 in blue with the reg beginning L3 and the car behind a silver IS200.

I agree take the refund, even though the dealer sounds honest how do you know how much it is going to cost to remedy the problem before work commences? You could be lucky say with a duff injector but there again it could be worn valve seats.

Thanks for sharing your experience, this is one of the main reasons forums like the LOC exist, to exchange ideas,information and in your case a cost effective solution to a potentially expensive problem. Did you also see the article about the guy who repaired his hybrid battery pack? Obviously not recommended unless you have the skills and PPE available to do the job safely). You can almost guarantee that the replacement transmission offered as a solution by Lexus would have been an exchange unit, your old one no doubt would have been fully reconditioned for the next customer with the same problem.

Did having the tracking sorted result in the correct ride height now being attained? Is it air suspension? I would have to question why it was so far out in the beginning.
