  1. A very useful source, generally you're lucky to find a single Lexus in any scrapyard, had I not found my keyfob button I would have been contacting them now.
  2. Cheers Mark, Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to assist other members, a one national supermarket says "Every little Helps" :)
  3. Welcome to the LOC and congratulations on your 220d purchase, happy motoring Lexus style :)
  4. Eureka! Atfer yet another search I finally found the elusive button only a few feet away from the location of the key, the search was severely hampered by the fact we have just had a new flat roof fitted and there are little bits of tar everywhere but there it was intact. So problem hopefully sorted once I get all the bits back together,it's such a pain having to put the key in the door lock :)
  5. Frustrating I know but it happens, I repair electronic stuff and there has been occasions when I have repaired something then ran it for a few minutes to check all is OK,returned it only to have it back the next day with another problem which only happens after say 30 minutes. Just make sure the tank is empty this time when you get there :)
  6. Thanks for all the input and offers guys, below is a couple of close up pictures of the fob showing where the little oval button fits. Mine is marked as Toyota being an import model but the Lexus one is the same bar the logo of course. Been walking the driveway again but no luck so far, the thing is spring loaded so could have launched into space. I had noticed earlier that there was a bit of casing missing next to the button and thought at the time I'd better be careful in case the buton flew out, as usuual I put the keys down on the ground whilsts removing all the old MOT stickers from the winscreen and touched the bunch with my size 9s. That's when the thing took off, ironically whilst looking for the button I found the piece that had originally chipped off and caused all the problems!
  7. Looks like a nice example, perhaps the paint damage on the door will buff out with the help of a decent bodyshop. Some good information in your post, I was certainly was unaware of the tax refund. Another plus is that the £ - Euro is good presently so saving you even more than it would a few months ago.
  8. It sounds like a picky MOT tester, there are normally heat shields on the cat and exhaust boxes, the fastenings are/were stainless steel, probably an idea to get into an exhaust fitters and let them yake a look as they should also have the clamps.
  9. Just my luck, I dropped my bunch of keys and chipped a little bit off the casing which I recovered but the little button located on the side has took off under spring pressure and despite searching on the driveway for 2 hours I cannot find it. If anyone has a scrap fob I could really do with this button otherwise my remote locking is obsolete.
  10. As you are buying the car from a motor trader/dealer you should be covered under the Sales of Goods Act which basically gives you a 6 month warranty aganst major defects, obviously if you buy the car with known defects for example the reversing camaera this would not be covered but if you are faced in a few months time with a defective hybrid battery/invertor failure then that should be. What I would be asking is why the car has been stood for so long and hasn't sold earlier, if you get the chance to view the paperwork see if you can gain details of the previous owner and contact them. Lexus will not provide any details regarding serice history without proof of ownership due to the Data Protection Act so that is only available after purchase when the vehicle is registered in your name.
  11. Sorry if my post was confusing, looking at the rxploded parts diagram it shows the WP gasket and 2 O ring seals which I would assume also need replacing at the same time, not sure if these would be supplied with the new WP or whether they are also available as aftermarket parts so quoted Lexus a the source to be sure. If you need the part numbers feel free to pm me.
  12. OK gentlemen I have hopefully edited all the posts containing the PM information, if I've missed anything please advise me with the post number as a reference. Karma should now return to the forum :)
  13. Car park spaces were not designed for the LS400s always too small :)
  14. One here,see 1st post http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/98613-sorry-boys/
  15. I thought the 250 was chain driven not belt so didn't need replacing at 6 years/60,000 miles?
  16. For the caliper I would be looking for a reconditioned one, many members have used this company for spares and calipers http://biggred.co.uk/onlinestore.php or have a look on the link below http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PAGID-Brake-Caliper-Rear-Left-LEXUS-GS-300-430-450-H-/331317518343?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d24102007Shouldn't be a big job to get it fitted. Water pump is not cam belt driven so not a major engine strip down to replace, depends if you want to go OEM or aftermarket but here's a decent brand at 80.00 quid instead of 190.00 from Lexus. Add another £30.00 for the gasket and O rings ( Lexus only) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-GS-450h-OE-Quality-FAI-Water-Pump-2GR-FSE-Engine-Code-/171382760362?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item27e73563aa If you can find a decent independant to fit the parts you should be looking at no more than 150.00 labour to do the whole lot and around £200.00 for the parts. If you do decide to go with Lexus why not check to see if they give a discount for Gold LOC members, even paying for a years membership with a dealer 10% discount you'll still be in the black :)
  17. Hi Gunnar and welcome to the LOC. Do you already have the springs/dampers to convert the car from air? If not take a look on ebay or amazon where the full kits will be available including lowering springs if you need them. The link below may help with the conversion job. http://www.lextreme.com/ascon.htm
  18. I like it, strange that a Japanese import is being sold here in the UK with the seller having a Romanian email address, free EU trade eh. Engine is a VVTI so which type is this? Looks like the seller specialises in LPG looking at the feedback. Very few JDM cars had leather due to the heat and many lack a sunroof for the same reason.
  19. £158.00 for 4 bolts, are they 18Ct gold !!!! Post up your part numbers and I'll check the price. Sorry only just seen your post I think I have a set off a 400 I broke up. I have a funny feeling that a local engineering shop would have been able to supply suitable replacements at a fraction of the cost.
  20. Think Street KA think Kylie Minogue, I should be so lucky :)
  21. There was a recent post on the forums where a member had taken the silver centre caps and respayed them a dark colour. Not knowing the rim width it is difficult to recommend tyre sizes, I run 235/45/17s up front and 255/40/17s on the rear with 8J rims.
  22. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I would find a decent independant garage with suitable diagnostic testers and ask them to pull the OBDII codes for you,OK they may charge a few quid but at least you will have something to go on. Sounds like the car is in LHM (Limp Home Mode) but a VSC fault is normally associated with wheel sensors/ABS/Traction Control problems. Once you get the codes come back with them.
