  1. Just wondering if the ECU is resetting after power was removed, drive it for a while to see if it relearns then drops the idle speed. The idle speed will drop when put into drive as you have the drag/load of the torque convertor/transmission. Is the idle speed correct when the engine has fully warmed up?
  2. Sorry to hear and see the resultant outcome, main thing is you are OK. Look at that alloy "girder" across the rear, there's the same at the front that's one of the reasons you walked away more or less intact. No debate regarding this one, it's a write off so start looking for the replacement.
  3. Hey George, Lancashire is next door to Yorkshire, run out in the Lexus, pop in and see our new member Dave and show him your new parts. Perhaps he would fit them for you for a fee :)
  4. The switch is in the parts list "Luggage Electrical Key Switch" Part number 84945-50010 priced at 67.00 Euros, providing the loom is present it should connect, apparently there is also a rubber cover which fits over it externally I guess to make it water proof priced at 8.50 Euros. Don't know about you but I would be looking on ebay for a breaker.
  5. Did you have the battery off to charge it during it lay up period?
  6. Remote central locking is a standard feature across the Lexus range. Exactly what key have you been supplied with? Reason I ask is it must have the electronic gubbins fitted to disarm the alarm/immobiliser system or the car wouldn't start. Any buttons on it? You need a "Master" key to programme any new key fobs and if you haven't got that it would have to be a dealer to supply and programme new ones at Lexus prices of course!
  7. Don't tell anyone else but Messi has had his LS400 converted to run on tap water.... like I said keep it quiet :)
  8. THere are 2 volumes plus an electrical supplement in official book form bu these fetch a couple of hundred pounds a set, if you take a look on ebay you can normally get the same on CD ROM for a few pounds.
  9. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I think the part you need is as below, it is fitted to the top of the door frame and curves down at one end, if you could post up a photo I can confirm. Also confirm driver's or passenger side front. Should be attached with double sided tape 75985B STRIPE, FRONT DOOR, RH 75985-48020 1 € 41.45 75986B STRIPE, FRONT DOOR, LH
  10. Not done one myself but the pump is attached to the reservoir which is located on the passenger side between the front of the car and the the wheel arch plastic liner. The wheel arch liner is normally attached with screws and clips so remove these and pull the liner back to expose the reservoir. You may also find there are plastic covers under the reservoir held with 10mm bolts. Once you access the reservoir the pump is a push fit into it the wirng loom should be fairly obvious with just 2 wires. Remove the one off the donor car first, if you make a mistake and damage something you'll know what not to do when you do the job on the road car to avoid the problem.
  11. Spotted in the M1 the other day,can you imagine working in the call centre for this company.
  12. A bit like this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-LEXUS-LS430-AUTO-RED-spares-or-repairs-/191552120254?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=1gJDw3SnxVGShH7qkwnI8g7LKPA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  13. I recently bought a copy of the Lexus book recommended by other members on the forum and as usual other items I may be interested in duly appear, this one did amuse me :)
  14. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I have looked up your model on Toyodiy.com and according to this there is only one type of tint for your Lexus. Part number is 68101-48070 described as Window Front Right Hand side, UV( Ultraviolet) Cut, Tinted,Tempered Glass,T= 5.0 GREEN. So if your window has a green tint the replacement should be the same. The glass may also have the above part number stamped on it which would confirm the correct type, if different shades are available the part number is normally followed by a colour code consisting of 2 extra letters/numbers but as there is no mention of this it would seem to confirm only one type is available. Cost at Lexus is around £100.00 so I hope the saving is significant for you but if you have fully comprehensive insurance window glass is normally covered under the policy with a nominal excess. A claim will generally not affect your NCD.
  15. Which version do you use John, there are various types like A1 A3, usually buy mine from Halfords when on offer but have a trade card now.
  16. Take a look on ebay for 5 stud, 114.3 PCD wheels, check the offset to make sure they will fit without fouling the suspension or arches and the bore is at least 60.1mm.
  17. Where did you come from? Hey no problem Toyota and Lexus are the same family :) Try here http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Lexus_IS_2.2_2006/p/car-parts/engine-parts/fuel-and-engine-management/fuel-injectors/?432820085&1&e3ef3327028340c284104148eee16928258ef17b&000993
  18. The injectors have to be coded to the car, the same injectors are used in the Avensis diesel engine, there are some 2nd hand ones on ebay. Another option is to have yours reconditioned, there was an article in Car Mechanics the other month regarding recon units.
  19. It's been a few years but proves you use the search facility :) Good result on the write off price, are you OK yourself I take it the car did a good job in protecting you?
  20. Yes door card needs to come off, if you search you should find a tutorial I posted for the series IV door mirror which should help. No scrapppers about with a good mirror, there seems to be a fair slection of breakers on ebay?
