  1. The kit is coming up as no longer available on toyodiy, even if available you have to buy the complete kit for just one piece.
  2. I've got mine with Footman James this year, fully comprehensive and agreed value for £138.00 limited to 3000 miles a year but you can make adjustments to suit for extra premium. There is no NCD with these policies so be careful not to lose it after 2 years.
  3. I still have mine on ( 2nd one as other got destroyed) reason being it keeps the underside clean (everything under it is still painted black and shiney. Also helps prevent objects in the road being flung up inside the engine bay.
  4. Sorry never seen those before they both appear of centre on both pictures, I assume they are non OEM?
  5. Could I point out to all members that when you search Autotrader they ask for your postcode, this is then clearly displayed when you link it to the LOC or other sites. Obviously this being a public website certain dishonest people then have details of roughly where you live and that you may have bought a nice Lexus ISF recently. I would advise all members to use a postcode unrelated to where they actually live for security reasons when posting a link, for example I use 10 Downing Street as my address.
  6. Jump starting from any car these days poses risks especially when electronics are the norm, sudden heavy current draw can play havoc with sensitive electronics and may result in expensive repairs being needed. My advice to to carry a jump start pack or similar or to be a breakdown service member. All hybrid vehicles are fitted with a conventional 12 Volt auxillary battery to power up the car from cold but may not be suitable for the heavy demands of a jump start their locations vary from make/model.
  7. If the replacement strut is falling when stood overnight I would be rechecking for air line leaks ( was it a new strut of used) the VSC light comes on on the late LS400 if the battery is disconnected for some time but generally goes out after a few drives.
  8. There's no easy, cheap long term solution. All I would suggest is a decent coat of good quality preferably colour matched wax to prevent potential rust forming and disguise the chips as much as possible. You can also buy the correct colour matched touch up paint from either dealers or paint companies but getting just the right amount of paint into the chip is a challenge in itself plus the top coat laquer.
  9. A couple of weeks ago Aldi had on sale various air tools and kits but this week they have reduced them from £20.00 to £15.00 bar a penny. I have just bought the air impact wrench which included 10 impact sockets, 100mm extension bar and oil mist feeder. Not bad considering it also carries a 3 year guarantee. Will be tested very soon with 2 cats to replace. So if you're looking for air tools may be worth a visit before they sell out.
  10. Did you find a purple wire in the loom? Lexus wiring normally means that a switch connects the circuit to earth to make the circuit so if the same applies here, the one terminal on the switch should connect to the live side and the switch itself will have the earth connection when bolted into position.
  11. Welcome back to the Lexus fold, have you seen the washer bottle float repair tutorial (costs nothing apart from time and a little of the wife's nail varnish). Struts can be reconditioned at SGS in Derby. There is also a good tutorial for the cam belt change on lexls.com if you are planning on DIY. Should still be worth more than you paid for the car and maintainence when all the jobs are done.
  12. How many connections or wires are on the switch you bought? Trunk release wire in car should be purple.
  13. Looks good for the asking price, good mileage, and one owner ( I wonder what he got in part ex?) If anyone is interested get in quick before our friendly Birmingham based dealer steps in and resells at double the price/half the mileage :)
  14. A very good point, I seem to remember something similar with BMW braking systems, last thing anyone wants is fingers crushed in a caliper.
  15. I tried them on my LS400 fronts, too much squeal, too much dust, with the car being automatic creeping up to the end of the garage was difficult as they tended to lock or release no smooth transistion between, same in slow stop start traffic felt and sounded like the ABS was kicking in coming to a complete stop. Personally I'd look elsewhere, I find OEM the best all round.
  16. Very nice, I like the blue colour, enjoying the Lexus experience?
  17. You will need replacement gaskets for the inlet manifold/plenum chamber, rear coolant bridge gaskets and EGR pipe. It is a good 10 hour job so unless the starter motor fails leave alone. The problem when the starter motor does fail is normally just the 2 copper contacts and solenoid plunger which can be bought for around 20.00 Euros.
  18. Also, yes change both sides or you may get different spring rates causing handling problems.
  19. Is this any use to you? http://www.tehnomagazin.com/Auto-radio-car-connector/LEXUS-Car-Radio-Wiring-Connector.htm
  20. Hello and welcome to the LOC. If you paid your mechanic to do the repair and the fault has returned I would return the car to him and ask him to take another look as the problem would appear not been successfully repaired or correctly diagnosed. I assume that your mechanic plugged in a diagnostic code reader as the 1st course of action in diagnosing the original problem and this led him to the fault with the ABS sensor wiring. Return the car to your mechanic and ask him to take another look at it, it may be another cause this time but the chances are it will be the same problem. Were the reconnected wires done properly or just twisted together and taped up? I guess the worst outcome would be a complete replacement ABS sensor complete with the wiring loom and connection plug.
  21. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I'm just up the A38 in the Alfreton area, I'll keep an eye open for your GS.
  22. Similar questions with package holiday companies on the return flights, start off OK with relevent questions but when it got to when my home insurance expires etc it got torn up!
  23. If the transmission mount was shot I would certainly take a look at the engine mountings, I would imagine the transmission was jacked up during the mount replacement which may have stressed out the engine mounts, I've seen these break in 2 after the engine has been pulled.
  24. IIRC the LS460 and LS600h wheels are different fittings regarding the stud pattern so are not interchangeable between the 2 cars.
