  1. The brand seems to be well respected, a lot of the project cars in Car Mechanics magazine are sponsored by Blueprint for the parts. TBH for the price and free delivery to your door it's got to be worth trying them, the ones to fit mine are £47.00 !
  2. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I believe the antenna is the same as the LS400 and you can normally just replace the drive/telescopic part, there is a tutorial on how to do this on www.lexls.com. The required part is generally available on ebay. Door hinge pins you're probably better off getting new ones from Lexus but they only come as a complete hinge, for the driver's door the part numbers are upper 68710-30140 lower 68730-30110 priced around £40.00 each. Unusual for these to fail unless the car has been in an accident resulting in poor alignment? Re the trim do you mean the 2 pieces that run down the edge of the windscreen and the other that runs along the top as I can't find roof trim for that model?
  3. To be fair to the dealer the problem appears not to have been present when the car was sold so it would be reasonable to let them take a look at the car and repair it, what I would ask at this point was is the repair going to be carried out by Lexus using approved Lexus parts or to the same standard of a Lexus dealer and carry the same warranty on the repair. It's no good simply replacing the Head Gasket and bolting the engine back together as the same thing will happen again due to known defects with this type of engine ( ask yourself why this was the only Lexus to have a diesel engine and is now discontinued). If you're not happy to have the car repaired then I would request that the car be returned and your money refunded in full quoting the SOGA 1979. If you paid for the car using a credit card you also have additional rights under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. The CAB are another useful contact if problems arise. Bit of light reading on the link below. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/car-buyers-guide/cbg_legalrights.html
  4. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Most of the information you require is on Club Lexus and Lextreme. The pin configuration seems wrong what is the part number of your ECU? This may help. http://www.yotatech.com/f161/1990-ls400-1uzfe-swap-wiring-pinout-90-95-4runner-272738/
  5. The kit looks reasonable, the EGR cleaner spray will be the same as carb cleaner so just a solvent to assist the crud build up. Many members have been using a different type of additive but I cannot remember the exact spec other than it is BG **** . I guess you've seen the video tutorial on the EGR removal and clean. It's got to be worth a try for what it costs and then make sure the car gets a good motorway run regularly after that to ensure the DPF gets nice and hot. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  6. If you have an IS200 why not just buy the correct pump for that model? IIRC the Altezza pumps are the same.
  7. Unfortunately the symptoms sound like a classic HGF, Lexus did a lot of these engines under their warranty with a mileage limit of 108,000 and under 7 years old with a FLSH. I think given the short time since purchase you could return the car to the dealer for a full refund if you wished under the Sales of Goods Act. Lexus basically fitted a new short engine and other parts for example the turbocharger to sort the problem so will yours get the same under warranty? Also be careful with your own mechanic looking at the car the last thing you want is a get out clause from the warranty because someone else has looked at it.
  8. I have an owner's manual for my 1994 LS400 which does list all the fuse functions and another that doesn't, may be worth checking yours otherwise it's going to have to be the service manual, should be available in PDF from the likes of ebay.
  9. Listed around £800.00 new !!! There are some being broken on ebay if you take a look. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lexus-is300-sportcross-wheel-nut-Lights-Breaking-Spares-Is200-Blue-estate-2003-/261886564664?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cf9a7d938
  10. Hello and welcome to the LOC. How did you test the sender unit? The fuel pump has nothing to do with the fuel gauge. Disconnect the single wire from the sender unit and with the ignition turned on the fuel gauge should read empty, connect the wire to chassis/earth and the gauge should read full. If this happens the gauge is working correctly and the fault lies with the sender unit. If not the fault is either the gauge or the wiring from the sender unit to it.
  11. Not entirely sure but you should retain your individual policy NCD on the other 2, you are right to declare it to the other insurers. What may happen is the premiums may increase.
  12. The coolant bottle should have 2 markings on it cold and hot and the levels should be at those marks respectively. You should never open the cap when the engine is warm as the system pressurizes and you could be scalded. With the engine completely cold top up the coolant to the cold line and replace the cap then check the coolant is at the hot line with the engine fully warmed up i.e. the temperature gauge at the normal midway position. Nearly forgot welcome to the LOC.
  13. There was a post on the forums some time ago where a member had purchased the SC430 and then discovered it was extremely rusty underneath and required major restoration/parts/money being invested in it to the point where I think it was resold at a substantial loss so make sure you inspect it carefully including the underside. Also press every button and switch to make sure they all work.
  14. Hello Roger and welcome to the LOC. This is a very friendly club so feel free to ask any questions you may have and members will always be happy to help. Pleased to hear you are enjoying the Lexus experience and you have already improved your MPG figures :)
  15. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Sounds like you got a good example enjoy the Lexus experience :) Feel free to post pictures up.
  16. The 80A fuse is normally the alternator fuse, fans don't need such a high current fuse. This type of fuse is a bolt in type it cannot simply be pulled out of the socket like the smaller ones. Normally to access it the fuse box needs to be removed to gain access to the connections to the fuse from underneath.
  17. Have you moved either of the fronts seats recently? Airbag faults tend to emerge if a seat that has been in one position for some time is then readjusted, take a good look under the seats for poor connections on the plugs and sockets. Also as the steering column has received past attention there could be a problem with the connections at the rear of the drivers airbag. Just a word of warning if you do find something don't just push the connection back in, disconnect the battery wait at least 20 minutes then do the work, these things can go off without warning if not treated with respect. I think a non working AB warning light is an MOT fail not an advisory.
  18. It's not the 1st time this week we've heard of this another member also had a leaking shock,an oil misting shock, a badly chipped windscreen and other bits on an MOT test. Pleased mine is so old, bent paperclip diagnostics and a full OEM service manual saves me pounds :)
  19. Another thing to consider with a secondhand transmission is to ensure that the car being broken was not due to the intercooler problem in the 1st place, hopefully most scrapyards would be honest and not sell a transmission likely to be already damaged but the hassle of fitting another faulty box would be quite upsetting. Accident damaged breakers will probably be the best bet, also ensure you get the matching torque convertor from the breaker do not reuse the original one.
  20. Another good suggestion from ambermarine, I'll just add to by saying get some gunk type stuff and clean all the accumulated oil off completely then monitor the leak. Talcum powder is a good way of pinpointing any leak as it is easy to see the path with it being white. From the looks of the service manual the oil seal can be replaced by removing the propshaft and the connection flange on the differential then getting the seal out although a SST ( Special Service Tool) is mentioned as being required to remove it but improvisation is probably the way forward i.e some hook device to pull it out and a suitable drift to refit. If you would like a copy of the service manual covering the proceedure just pm me an email address.
  21. Do you have 12 volts on pin 1 of the AC relay (MG CLT Relay) ? With the AC off is this voltage also present on pin 2 of this relay? Good suggestion from Ambermarine the ambient temp sensor can become clogged with fluff and provide false readings so a good idea to check and clean this ( I use compressed air in an aerosol). The external sensor has been known to either fall off the mounting behind the bumper or the wires corrode If you PM your email I can scan and send you the Lexus manual section for the electrics involved.
