  1. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Have you only just realised the lenses were damaged with an MOT tomorrow? Place to look is ebay for breakers but you won't get them in time.
  2. Steve has been working on it I believe for the last few days looking at the test posts :)
  3. Wow it's up to £2700.00 but worth at least £12,990 according to the seller's mate. Not only is it overdue services with mileage but also the last one was in February 2012 so also overdue in time. I'm sure it will make a nice project car for someone, nothing wrong with a project car except I paid £200.00 for mine.
  4. Just browsing like you do and came across a 53 plate LS430 currently at £1K and a mere 70,000 miles. Only when you start reading the description do you then realise the whole story. Presently has 70,000 miles and dealer service history shows last service at 55,000 and the owner has only had the time to change the battery and have it MOTd so it's been driven for the last 15,000 miles with not even an oil change? Cam belt never replaced but it doesn't need doing until 100,000 miles, forgets to mention or 10 years whichever comes earlier so well overdue and would you fancy driving it home say 300 miles. Steering adjustment gone and we know the motor prices alone, windows delaminating, "speaker blown" plus a few other bits. Car comes with 3 keys but only 1 works may be just the batteries but the owner can't be bothered to buy 2 for a few quid to confirm. Then we have the "selling the car for a mate" who is now being made redundant and can't work a computer ( he'll soon learn that skill at the local jobcentre) I'd like to see the MOT advisories because to me this car has been bought by an owner unable to maintain it which now needs some serious money spending on it that the new owner will now finance. Top money at the present asking price me thinks with more than that needed immediately after purchase and then there's the cosmetics to sort although I am obviously wrong here "but I'm sure the next owner could make this car absolutely perfect with little expense." Never been to a Lexus dealership or a body shop recently then :) It's a no from me :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-53-LEXUS-LS430-AUTOMATIC-PREMIUM-PACK-/131525628468?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e9f89d234
  5. Hello and welcome to the LOC. All the codes you are getting relate to spark problems. P1305 Igniter Circuit Fault (Bank #2) P1310 Igniter Circuit Fault (Bank #3) P1315 Igniter Circuit Fault (Bank #4) P1320 Igniter Circuit Fault (Bank #5) P1325 Igniter Circuit Fault (Bank #6) I would begin by ensuring all the wiring looms are correctly connected and routed, the fact that all was OK before refiting the front end would suggest something has been disconnected, trapped, chafed during this process.
  6. When you say the radio doesn't work does it display the tuning mode and search for stations? Reason I ask is with the rest working it could be a problem with the aeriel which I would suggest checking before replacing the head unit to find you have the same problem.
  7. Have the results of the Lexus dealer survey been published yet? Be interesting to see the results. A dealer sold CT200h with misaligned panels and steering hmmmm worrying, concidered an AA inspection?
  8. Prevention is better than the cure, I've mentioned this many times before but will again. I clean out my wheel arches every year since I owned the car, the 1st time I did it there was a pile of crud all over the floor and now there is very little. When the car is dry remove the black arch trims ( 4 self tappers) then feel around the arches loosening any built up crud with your fingers (take care here not to snag your fingers or use a stiff toothbrush),using a hosepipe wash the remaining crud from the arches and clean the area where the black trim fits over. Allow to dry then apply a good coat of underseal behind the arch, apply a good layer of grease to the back of the arch trims and refit wiping off any excess grease. I also take the car to one of those car wash places where it also washes the underside after winter to remove the salt. I've no rust issues with the arches or anywhere else on my 21 year old car, the arches rust due to the build up of crud which contains plenty of corrosive road salt and when left causes the problems especially when it gets damp.
  9. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Even though there was no apparent damage noticed at the time I hope you still exchanged details with the other driver or you may be faced with a rather large bill. Take a read below. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/98193-pop-up-hood-warning/
  10. It's below the radio sitting over the transmission tunnel inside the dash
  11. They're normally located on the valve cover.
  12. The only person I can think of on here who has/had a TTE Supercharged IS was member name Ormi. IIRC he was a Toyota trained technician and often gave invaluable information to the club members.Unfortunately he's not been on here since 2012. If you contact the DVLA they will provide previous owner details and doing a VOSA MOT history check will reveal where the car was tested in the past.
  13. The increased fuel costs will easily be offset and more by the reliability so saving on parts. If you can do all your own servicing and maintainance I wouldn't worry,if you want OEM parts you can always get them from Amayama.com which in general work out at around half UK Lexus dealer prices including the delivery and import duty/VAT.
  14. Fuse description is normally on the underside of the covers, sorry no fuse layout for the LS430.
  15. Options available some dealer only some not http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/14IS350-With-Display-Audio.pdf
  16. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Often pass through/around Peterborough on my way to Norfolk unfortunately in a Transit van and not the Lexus.
  17. IIRC all other Lexus model wheels will fit the LS400 except the LS600h ones ( different PCD). There are also other makes of car with the same fitment ( I have Mitsubishi EVO 9 wheels on mine).
  18. I'm away for a couple of weeks but will get something organised on my return :)
  19. Check "Dome" fuse (10A) and "Radio no.2" fuse (15A) both inside footwell fuse panel.
  20. Lexus quotes are generally just for the belt change, no tensioner, idler or WP. Problem is there have been many a belt failure due to these parts so with the engine already stripped down it seems false economy not to do the whole lot at the same time. Never seen a report where Lexus have replaced just a belt and then had major engine problems soon after.
  21. Don't worry, it's not a stupid question thanks to you we now know the correct part numbers for an IS220d PS pump both LHD and RHD :)
  22. It's all out there on google but here you go -remove engine under cover 16 10mm screws) -drain engine coolant using the radiator valve at base of radiator -remove the air cleaner inlet(10mm bolt to remove) -remove stock airbox and disconnect MAF sensor -disconnect upper rad hose -disconnect lower rad hose -disconnect ECM 90 degree tubing from ECM and rad -disconnect the wire for the electric cooling fan from clamp on the fan. -disconnect 2 electric fan connectors -disconnect the ECT switch(by lower rad hose, unscrew and screw into new rad) -for A/T, disconnect 2 oil hoses from rad -remove the two nuts and radiator top supports -lift out the rad with cooling fan assembly attached -disconnect the rad reservoir hose from the rad -remove the 6 10mm bolts that hold fan assembly on rad.
  23. Looks to have 5-6mm remaining and in tread section so would be worth having repaired. By the time you've paid for the repair/refitting/rebalancing I bet it's going to be around £30.00.
  24. Came across an article on Wilkipedia regarding the construction of the pistons used in the V8 engines, these aren't just ordinary pistons they're M+S pistons :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypereutectic_piston
  25. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-Toyota-Crown-Majesta-Lexus-LS400-61-000-miles-/321762053457?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4aea834d51 Be nice to have a newer replacement for the LS400.
