  1. Just rechecked and the red circled is correct, the blue one is the upper control arm Before you order from the USA the Lexus list price is showing at around £50.00 for the genuine part, maybe worth calling LPD first? Lexus part number is 48706-53020 Link Sub Assy, Toe Control, LH Just rechecked and the red circled one is the lower so correct if Halfrauds have described it correctly.
  2. This may help, the link is for the one circled in red which appears to be the correct one but there is another one above circled in blue.
  3. Always a couple of lemon Fantas in mine 😀 I thought the reversing cameras were standard fitment as part of the Park Assist system, my screen automatically switches to rear view when reverse is selected along with the dipping mirrors.
  4. Very nice, how was the welcome into the showroom? I’ve never been to Japan but love the culture there and it’s on my bucket list of places to visit. I wanted to visit the Lexus dealer in Dubai but got vetoed by the beach, “We’re going to look at some new cars today” “No we’re going to the beach!” “Er OK” 😀
  5. Hi John and welcome to the LOC. Any live or stored fault codes? Reason I ask is that there are multiple causes, favourite for thermal failure I.e. when it gets hot is the CPS but then it could be the notorious ECU capacitors, fuel pump as mentioned by Supafly, MAF…the list goes on. You really need a fault code first, guessing and replacement is the most expensive method of fault finding.
  6. Option 1 some adhesive like Bostick glue or spray adhesive, option 2 replace the rubber for around £5.00. https://tinyurl.com/4v84348r
  7. Be cautious with “Classic” insurance policies, they don’t use NCD so unless you have another vehicle that disappears after 2 years. I found this out from personal experience when my “classic” insurers refused to insure my 2004 Celsior as “it’s not on our database” I ended up paying over £600.00 because I had no NCD and even getting cover was very hard with most wanting at least a year NCD. Other limitations are mileage restrictions. Fortunately having now gained 2 years NCD my premiums are now more reasonable.
  8. I’ve always wanted to fit air horns to my trolley 😀
  9. Hi Josh and welcome to the LOC. Which software are you using for the attempted diagnosis? Toyota Techstream is the official one.
  10. No complaints from me Phil it still purrs like a kitten. Already sorted the reversing sensors, the power is taken from the reversing lights so the wire was taken from the boot Iid into the boot, although well protected encased inside a plastic shroud ) it had broken. Soldered and heat shrink. Conclusion too many trips to the recycling centre. Noticed last night transmission still letting car roll back in drive on a slope, got some WS on order so going to do the drain and refill. Already have a IR thermometer for the fluid temperature check. Just my luck already had 5 litres of Type IV in the garage. Interior button lights …..they can wait 😀
  11. There’s no other experience close to plane spotting at Heathrow whilst sat queuing in lane 3 of the M25 and you always get your turn directly underneath them. 😀
  12. Yay, in that case I could use my 1982 Suzuki GSX 250, no road tax, no MOT and no ULEZ 😀
  13. I know, having driven the old one for 16 years I just needed a change. I still don’t know what has happened to it, last time I checked the MOT had expired. Took a look in the boot and found the aftermarket reverse sensor unit which of course is partially obstructed by the trim. Looks like a 12 Volt supply which should be supplied when reverse is selected, a ground wire firmly attached to the parking assist ECU metal casing and a twin wire presumably to the bleeper. Multimeter out tomorrow weather permitting.
  14. Having a few issues with the Celsior recently. First problem was the button illumination only working intermittently, a bit of research suggested the passenger side fuse box ( with a PCB inside) was the likely culprit. Managed to find one but you need a child’s hands to get in there to remove it so mission postponed. Second problem appeared a week ago when having been stuck in traffic for several hours due to the closure of the M1 I realised that the car would not hold on a hill in Drive, it began to roll back. Shifting from D to N then back to D it then held. Further investigation showed this only happened when the transmission was hot. Hopefully a couple of drains and refills of Toyota WS will sort it. Finally today during a visit to the local butchers I reverse parked the car and no reverse sensors bleep, nothing has been done to the car since it was last put away in the garage when they were working. Good job I’ve retired!
  15. Well mine certainly won’t be going to the London ULEZ area, despite being the equivalent of a 2004 LS430 I would have to pay. Contacted the DVLA/DVSA? and was informed I needed a Certificate of Conformity from Toyota. Toyota UK cannot supply as the car is not European specification and JDM vehicles don’t come under EU conformity obviously as they meet Japanese rules. If I ever do need to go to London I’ll try and go by train provided they aren’t still on strike.
  16. My personal opinion is I prefer the original wood shift knob, however the replacement would suit some carbon fibre wrap on the wood trim and modernise the look of the car.
  17. Dubai appears to be the place for ES spotting.
  18. I took on a Tesla model S once from traffic lights ….I thought I was in neutral as it disappeared in front of me.
  19. If you can weld, fabricate and happy to chop, cut and modify your rear valance I would say yes. If you’re looking at plug and play no. I remember years ago a local guy nicknamed Cooter would make you an exhaust system from the scrap he collected from exhaust fitting centres, they were aptly named “Cooter exhausts” 😀
  20. The black item more or less in the centre of the circle is definitely the brake calliper bleed nipple rubber cover, the greyer coloured item above and behind is the calliper pin boot. The cover does prevent dirt and water ingress into the nipple but they tend not to extend fully onto the threaded section which is the bit that tends to seize. New covers for what they cost are a good idea if damaged plus a smear of grease around the exposed nipple threads before fitting them.
  21. The post facelift with the 6 speed does display the selected gear on the dash when in sequential mode, no paddle shift however just push and pull the selector lever for up/down shifts. The pre facelift models used the 5 speed from the previous LS400 model I believe.
  22. Suspension = Sport/Norm Sport stiffens the suspension damping so should reduce body roll during cornering Height = High/Norm, tested setting this to High activated the air compressor. I didn't test anything further, just switched back to Norm. You should see the car lift higher when switched to high and lower back down in normal mode, check all 4 corners do this and wheel arch gaps are equal both sides. Compressor should kick in when going to high, hissing noise as air is released going back to normal. ECT = Pwr/Snow, tested this last night, couldn't really feel any difference. Basically transmission moves off in 2nd gear in snow mode to help prevent wheel spin. The car you have purchased appears to be a pre facelift model so a 5 speed transmission, the facelift ( 2004- on) models has the 6 speed sequential transmissions which mine has and is ultra smooth on shifting. From looking at your picture of the car I hope you have now moved it, taxiways are only for aircraft movements not Lexus parking 😀
  23. Hi James and welcome to the LOC. There are presently 3 LS400s of your year (95-97) being broken on eBay one of which I have linked below. https://tinyurl.com/tcuhyay4 For the others just type Lexus LS400 breaking into the search box. Part numbers you quoted, the LH (NS) indicator is correct but the LH (NS) headlight is coming up on the database as 81150-50140. Amayama is showing as obsolete so little chance of buying either new, but at £400.00 for the headlight perhaps a good thing. Make sure if you do buy a used one that the fixing lugs are intact, the bolt holding the headlight to the wing tends to shear off if not removed with care. If you need any help with fitting let me know.
  24. Are you trying to buy every IS200 in the UK ? 😀
  25. What does your owner’s handbook say? According to my calculations 13.2 UK gallons is 60 Litres not 50
