  1. Apparently Colgates only provides protection for 24 hours and should be applied with a brush, spat out but don't rinse :)
  2. I could be wrong here but I always thought that diesel fuel was more expensive because of the fuel duty on it. Called into Morrisons in Perth earlier today and saw both at the same price.
  3. If that's the case how come a filled car body panel doesn't have pits after repair, if the paint starts peeling in 6 months will he say that's because of the pitting too? If you'e not happy take them back and get him to do the job again, properly this time or ask for your money back. If the wheels were that bad before the job was done he should have said so then giving you the option of finding a better set to have refurbished.
  4. I put the occasional half tank in, haven't noticed any benefits just the increased price of the stuff.
  5. I've not noticed any problems you mention using a Macbook, can't type fast anyway with just 2 fingers :)
  6. I think I may have a good OEM one in my "stores" I'll check and come back to you.
  7. The benefits of stainless steel :) Have a google search perhaps for a custom made SS one, probably be cheaper than an OEM Lexus replacement and you can usually customise it for the exhaust note. I've seen cat back systems for around £400.00 for the LS400 on fleabay.
  8. Did you thouroughly clean the disc to hub mating surfaces, any surface imperfections can cause quite a bit of disc run out at the pad contact points. Did you also remove, clean and regrease the caliper sliders as these tend to rattle if not serviced correctly.
  9. Perhaps your latest addition to the collection has been refurbished to a better than OEM standard?
  10. Sounds just like Apple.com all they ever want to do is sell you new stuff by withdrawing support for the older models like operating system updates and making the new stuff incompatible with older models forcing you to upgrade. Like you with the Lexus they can get stuffed when my macbook finally fails I'll be back to a PC, Apple stuff is overpriced, these days unreliable complete with rubbish support.
  11. The backlight problem is a fairly easy DIY fix if you are a reasonable solderer, this also fixes the other centre console illumination problem. The LCD however is another problem, they are probably available from the USA but of little use here in the UK being for LHD models.
  12. Went to collect some Toyota coolant and a gasket to do a change from Lexus Derby and as usual was asked if I would like a drink after taking a seat in the showroom. It was while I was drinking this and eating the complimentary biscuits that I noticed the cup and 2 other designs stacked around the coffee machine. Could resist taking one, so coffee to go Sir?
  13. I'm on my 4th battery in 9 years of ownership all down I think to lack of use. It spends more time parked up in the garage than on the road with an annual mileage of 2-3000. The previous one was on it's way out and 2 weeks in the airport car park completely finished it ( wouldn't even smart charge). So the old Lexus officially broke down for 20 minutes waiting for the AA,even though I'm a member I called the airport car park people on the barrier intercom and the AA guy said don't bother with your membership details it's more paperwork,I'll charge it to the airport.( So that's why parking is so expensive). Fortunately it's start and go with mine apart from reseting the radio everything else stays the same unlike older models where windows etc need resetting.
  14. You woukld have thought the hybrid models had green badges that change to red when the petrol engine kicks in :)
  15. Surely you wouldn't expect someone to reverse park one of them into a space outside a school without them would you, probably has a reversing camera and lane keep assist as optional extras :) I keep one of them in the boot of my LS400 for parking in multistorey car parks :)
  16. The caliper bracket holes don't wear but the pins do, I would go for replacement pins and also check if there are any rubber bushes fitted on them and replace those too (not the concertina bellows but bushes that actually fit on the sliding pins). I used to use moly grease on mine but now changed to Red Rubber Grease which seems to last between services. I also found cleaning out the holes in the caliper bracket of old grease with cotton bubs and some solvent helped.
  17. Blast I forgot all about it and the single bid of £25.00 won it !!!
  18. Unless it's an import thing only my 1994 series II driver's window does auto up and down?
  19. So very true I live in Derbyshire and they have been constantly lowering speeds limits throughout the county for years, they lowered one near me from NSL to 40 and when I questioned it their reply was "All the ajoining roads are 40". I even suggested that they should bring back the man with a red flag walking of front of my car. Their latest spend for speed are vehicle activated illuminated 30 mph reminder signs plastered all over the county, again I questioned the reasoning and "safety" was the reply. I am now awaiting a response under the FOI Act from DCC regarding these claimed accident reduction figures and also the total cost of installation and maintainance. Ironically it has been announced recently that the same county council are planning on axing 50 school crossing patrols. The M1 is the same with the overhead signs constantly reducing the speed limit with no explanation causing congestion.
  20. I reported an incident earlier this week to the police a glass bottle was thrown from the vehicle in front of me,shattered as it hit the pavement and then sprayed the front of my car with glass shards. I was given a "crime number" and later contacted by a police officer assigned to my case, who was in court the next day then on nights but promised to come back to me asap, this has all been confirmed by email. Time will tell. Before our nearest police station closed completely to the public it used to close for lunch, always made me smile that did. "hello police, there's a man being mugged outside your entrance" "I'm sorry we're all out for lunch can you call back later"
  21. If you have no warning lights on and the car drives as it should I wouldn't worry unduly, like all modern cars they depend on multi ECU use and relays, mine does all sorts of clicks when the ignition is turned on resetting the AC flaps, fuel pump relay, engine control relay etc.
  22. Looks like the Fiat driver could do with some parking lessons do you normally enter and exit your car via the sun roof? Why is there no marking line to the right of the Fiat? Can you not swop spaces with another owner and run it past the CP owners? Good job you don't have an LS :)
  23. Doesn't sound good but please keep us updated with how things progress.
  24. I'm back now, yes it is the footwell light the socket where it connects and twists into is a bit worn so it tends to fall out at regular intervals. There are a few extra wires in the area because of the speed delimiter ( imports are initially limited to 180 KPH ) Good to hear the tutorial was useful to you.
