  1. Ebay varies, some sellers ask stupid prices ( normally breakers yards selling parts you will never need like a wheel arch liner) and then you get the private guys who on the whole are reasonable in pricing. I'm still looking for 2 decent series IV door mirrors or just the glass.
  2. Not sure if this applies to UK spec but my 1994 MKII import has the speed sensitive wipers,at a complete stop they stop but start again as soon as I move off.
  3. It's concerning to hear of the fine metallic particles being present in the fluid, the sump is normally fitted with several magnets to pull these out of the fluid in the sump. The drain refill process is a pain with around only 2 litres being drained on each occasion, it can be flushed via the oil cooler but there are reports both good and bad regarding this method as previously trapped contaminants can be released into the flow of fluid. As Colin mentioned the Aisin transmissions are fitted with a fluid temperature sensor which prevents upshifts to top gear until the transmission reaches a certain temperature in order to protect it. The main thing is to ensure the specified Toyota fluid only is used that being Type IV. If you do replace the filter block be aware that the sump requires a special sealant for refitting and sump bolt torque settings are crital to prevent future leaks.
  4. I use genuine Toyota batteries and have never had a terminal fitting problem, are the terminals OEM ?
  5. Buy it, worth the purchase price in spare parts if worst senario.
  6. Very rare to find a one owner LS400 these days with such low mileage, should serve you well for many years to come :) Mine was a one previous Japanese owner import with just 38,000 miles on it bought over 8 years ago and still going strong.
  7. Looking very nice and the torch is still in the bag :) Have you had it from new with a mere 72,000 on the clock?
  8. Did you get the part number for the pipe from Lexus? If so you could try Amayama for the part or an AC specialist as you mention may be able to make one up for you.
  9. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Sorry unable to help with either problem but pretty sure some IS owners will have the answers. Just a warning, be very careful messing about with airbags they can go off unexpectedly if the correct proceedures aren't followed.
  10. Not sure about Nissan but when my 1994 JDM LS400 needed a specific headlight unit it was with me from Japan within 10 days via a UK Lexus dealer.
  11. It would probably have been cheaper to have fitted a custom made SS exhaust system rather than pay £450.00 for a mild steel OEM replacement. What exactly seizes up on the brake calipers? My caliper pins do get stiff when coming up to service time but have never completely stuck.
  12. IIRC they have pre tensioners fitted which is basically an explosive device which locks up the belt in the event of a collision so care has to be taken removing and refitting them. I'll take a look in the workshop manual for the correct proceedure. Edit. I have found the service section for the 2000 year LS400 seatbelt replacement,if you send me your email via PM I'll send a copy.
  13. I think I could run my car on the gas produced after eating an Indian curry the night before :)
  14. Probably not the wheels at 8 years old, Lexus wheels are reknowned for laquer/paint peeling and the subsequent corrosion if not sorted promptly. Use the point to haggle the price to cover a full set wheel refurb.
  15. This company is featured in the current issue of Car Mechanics magazine, I am not affiliated to either the magazine or the company concerned but thought this information may be of interest or even benefit to any members with an RX300 suffering the symptoms described, particularly if Lexus insist on a complete new transmission! http://www.ecutesting.com/common-ecu-faults/lexus.html
  16. I always do my own oil and filter changes using a genuine Toyota filter. Even when I oil up the seal and hand tighten the new filter it can still be a struggle to remove it on the next change resorting eventually to the hammered through long handled screwdriver removal technique so these things do tend to become very tight even if the correct installation proceedures are adhered to.
  17. Not forgetting of course the lack of an EGR system gives me another BHP over the LS400 :)
  18. I noticed tonight my local BP station was £119.9 petrol and £1.23.9 diesel always the same with them, still clawing back the gulf oil spill costs :)
  19. "Experian Catalyst" are they a low emissions company :)
  20. Clicks are normally relays so agreed power probably present, perhaps a jammed motor if you can get to it?
  21. Don't tell me they went on to say that their own brand batteries were specially designed to allow mobile phone charging without causing damage :)
  22. Apparently it's a TSB for the problem see if this helps http://workshop-manuals.com/lexus/rx_350_fwd/v6-3.5l_(2gr-fe)/body_and_frame/bumper/rear_bumper/rear_bumper_cover/fascia/system_information/technical_service_bulletins/by_symptom_for_rear_bumper_cover/fascia/sb0039-10/jun/10/body_poor_rear_bumper_cover_fit/page_11712/
  23. Welcome to the LOC. Nice bridge you have :)
  24. I would say possible but probably not easy with audio controls and airbag systems to consider.
