  1. Cheapest option I can think of would be to put the original wheels back on that fitted properly, wheels that stick out beyond the arches are illegal and will fail an MOT. I know in the USA they "pull the fenders" to accomodate wider wheels and or alter the camber so the top of the wheel sits within the arch although these are more expensive fixes :)
  2. Have a read of the Lexus servicing prices in the link below, what I don't understand is the +100 service is cheaper than the +60 service but includes the cambelt replacement if fitted. http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/#/ServicingYourLexus Sorry must go, I need to polish my diamond encrusted crankshaft puller :)
  3. Looks a nice example, engine bay looks valeted :) I wouldn't carry drugs in mine personally but if you're into LSD what can I say!
  4. If you bought the insurance online you should have rights under the distance selling regulations in that you can cancel without penalty within 14 days of taking out the policy and expect to be refunded in full providing no claim is made during this tiime. I did this a couple of years ago when the policy automatically renewed and I then discovered a better policy cheaper, I rang the current insurer and told them I wished to cancel, they told me I would be charged for the 10 days cover until I informed them of the DSRs, got a full refund with no deductions. If you do cancel I would suggest looking at an online quote from another company, check the premium and then phone them to confirm that quote and get it confirmed in writing. Finally I take it your search engine is nosey google ? Ditch the search engine :)
  5. Already owning a Lexus LS400 and having watched the 1st 30 seconds I have placed an order for the sailing boat :)
  6. It didn't look bad at all Malc, been for sale since last year IIRC but now seems to have gone. If anyone is looking for a low mileage 2 owner early LS400 this may be worth a look. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201505113363193?quicksearch=true&postcode=de11aa&make=lexus&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&channel=cars&search-target=usedcars&sort=default&model=ls_400&page=1&radius=1500&logcode=p
  7. There's been an early series IV at a traders not far from me which has been on the lot now for months, started at £1995 then £1495 and now at £995.00
  8. Welcome to the LOC,feel free to post up some pictures doesn't matter if you don't we'll still speak to you :)
  9. So your faith in Lexus has been restored again :)
  10. I seem to remember reading this before, so my Celsior is latin for "Supreme" then :) Where is part 2 anyone?
  11. Most obvious cause is the battery playing up, how long has it been in the fob? Cost to replace is a couple of pounds so maybe worth trying the cheap option 1st. There have been reported cases of similar symptoms due to local radio wave interference, is the car always parked in the same place when the problem occurs?
  12. It may be best to consult a car AC specialist, they have the weight and amount of pag oil for a complete system so there would still have to be some guesswork with part of the system removed, as for repairing the pipe I've no idea but I don't see why it couldn't be done apart from an inaccesible location perhaps. Again ask the AC experts is probably the best way forward.
  13. You don't necessarily need a live data recorder to confirm a correctly working CTS just a digital multimeter to measure the output voltage of the device or the resistance at certain temperatures. The chart beow shows the expected range of resistance of the CTS at various temperatures but the main checked without a thermometer are at 20 degrees ( engine cold at this time of the years so expect 2000-3000 ohms and fully warmed up at 80 degrees so expect 200-400 ohms. As Ambermarine mentions a new OEM replacement is quite cheap and there is a good DIY fitting tutorial on the forums. If your independent is Toyota trained they should have the correct Toyota Tech diagnostic kit for OBDII diagnostics to enable live data reading. The engine temperature will not effect live data so I fail to understand why the data cannot be read with a cold engine as it comes from the engine ECU. TBH £100.00 for the complete job including an OEM sensor sounds like a good deal. ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR RESISTANCE Temp. °F (°C) Ohms -4° (-20) 10,000-20,000 32 (0) 4000-7000 68 (20) 2000-3000 104 (40) 900-1300 140 (60) 400-700 176 (80) 200-400
  14. I had to reverse a large company Vauxhall van into a narrow driveway last week, one of the linesmen said I'll watch you back but as the reversing commenced I couldn't see him in either mirror. Stopping to find out why he than said I'm right behind you can't you see me on the reversing camera screen in the cab. Reversing camera screen, what's that, arr that's what that thing is then so not a sat nav :)
  15. Wheels look great in my opinion with a dark coloured car but red calipers are normally reserved for Ferraris :)
  16. How about some adjustable coilovers instead of lowering springs?
  17. Hello and welcome to the LOC :)

    Hi

Hello and welcome to the LOC, any pictures to show us the new IS?
  19. There is a reprogramming thread somewhere on the forums which may be of use to you. Try reading through this http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/69040-programming-new-key-fob-help/
  20. An article I read in a motoring magazine seems to suggest that green coolant is good for 2 years and red for 5 years. I've just bought 5 litres of Toyota red concentrate to replace mine after 5.
  21. I don't have the service manual for an IS200 but usually the numberplate lighting is fed off the rear tail lights. I would trace the wiring back from the numberplate lights to the next connection point, usually a multiplug and socket between the rear of the boot and the wheel arch. If anyone does have a wiring diagram I would be happy to interpret it.
  22. I have an imported model LS400 and the factory mats in these are twice as thick and heavy as the UK spec models so even across the Toyota brands quality varies.
  23. Yes the 430 wheels are a straight fit on the 96 LS400s, the later models like yours have larger calipers so some aftermarket wheels won't go on without spacers ( not recommended). A lot of Japanese cars use the same 5 stud pattern with a PCD of 114.3 so always worth looking at the likes of Mazda and other models.
