  1. Nice find Linas and not too far to collect. Strip it down, clean it all up and get some rust proofing on it, plenty of other useful parts included too!
  2. Your friend has at least complied with the licence requirements regarding yearly gas checks, wiring checks etc and hopefully smoke alarms and a CO monitor are also installed as required and regularly tested. I know Nottingham City Council charge on a sliding scale with a surcharge for late applications but no mention of other penalties which I understand can be a fine of up to £30K. Apply now before enforcement action, eat humble pie, genuine oversight and it should be OK.
  3. Also consider this given the subframe issue. “If you believe the seller has sold you a faulty car, you should contact the seller immediately. You have consumer rights for up to six years, which protects you against a faulty car. However, the law does not offer you a blanket protection. The law only protects you against a fault, which should not have developed on the car, given its age and mileage and the condition the car was in at point of sale. It is very important that you take your car back to the seller as your consumer rights rest with them.”
  4. We recently had another member looking for the same on a RX300 I think, he found an “as new” replacement from the company linked below. https://nipponautospares.com This one was probably the bargain of the century https://ahparts.com/buy-used/2010-lexus-rx350-crossmember-rear-sub-frame-cradle-beam-51206-0e040-512060e040/94206-1 Is there no mention of the rear subframe on the current MOT (advisories) ? Seems strange how it has gone from good to rotten in less than a year, stranger still Lexus also failed to notice this and other defects during servicing.
  5. Always makes me smile with ASDA selling tyres. The name ASDA comes from the original company name of ASsociated DAiries which sold milk, cream and other dairy products. Along came the supermarket chain and now just like most of the others they sell everything. I would love to have a chat with their technical tyre department regarding noise levels between 2 brands with a 3 dB difference in published figures.
  6. I seem to remember it was four pennies in old money which changed to 2 new pence in 1971 an effective increase of 20%. Yes decimal currency was probably the beginning of rip off Britain along with “Purchase Tax” the predecessor of VAT. Anyway just off to the butcher’s shop for 3/6’ worth of stewing meat, not shin, for me Mam. 😀 It was a Tesla model S that left me standing at traffic lights in the Celsior, the driver did however get to 60 MPH, the legal limit and stop accelerating at that point
  7. Also just noticed “unknown mileage” in 2020, would like to see the service history.
  8. Funny MOT history, had its first in 2020, so 3 years from new then only current one recently
  9. No you cannot have a personal registration that makes the car appear newer than it actually is.
  10. Depends on the remaining tread depth I would think if you’re 2-3 mm remaining on the other it may be worth buying a matched pair for the axle.
  11. How times don’t change; back in 1909 Henry Ford famously declared that “a customer can have a car painted any colour he wants as long as it's black”.
  12. For your own safety, for those who travel in the car and your peace of mind replace it, £100-£150 now is nothing compared to the consequences of a sudden high speed blow out. If you were to leave it then have an accident as a result of it or not you could leave yourself open to driving an unroadworthy vehicle and have any claim rejected by your insurers.
  13. The boot seal lip if you’re lucky generally just needs a good clean, flakey paint removal and a bit of rust inhibitor but I have seen cases where the lip had been left too long. The consequences of which are excessive rust to the point sections have actually rotted away, that’s where the fabrication and Mig welding skills come in to play. Preventative maintenance is the key here, remove the trim, clean the lip and the drainage gutters around it.
  14. Not much to go on but my first thought was the battery, the roof motors take some current and ECUs don’t like low voltage. I would check/have it checked.
  15. Hi Chris and welcome to the LOC. That was a rare find for a car in that condition and mileage, feel free to post more pictures and how you came across it please.
  16. In the 17 years I’ve been a LOC member I haven’t heard of any other cases. What did you say on collection? What did the dealer say? If it was the wrong colour floor mats that’s easy to rectify but the complete interior!!!
  17. Check out the video in the link, access the fuel pump as shown but instead of removing it disconnect the hose face towards the front of the car and connect a longer more suitable piece to the outlet. Place the other end into your can(s) then turn on the ignition. The fuel pump will then turn on and pump the petrol into the can, when full turn off the ignition and repeat for next can.
  18. Hi Abz and welcome to the LOC. We never got a definitive answer for this problem but something I have now thought of is to check the rubber exhaust mountings. There are 5 of them supporting the system, if they are worn, dried out or perished they could produce a noise.
  19. I have the Toyota Celsior the same year as yours, an interesting difference regarding the front fog lights is that with UK models the side sections have no bulbs fitted but on the Japanese version they do. They are called “cornering lights” and illuminate on the same side when the indicator is on only when the sidelight/ main headlights are also on ( so basically when dark). They then illuminate the kerb as you turn.
  20. Yes definitely make sure you are buying the genuine items, iridium is a very rare metal and apparently very hard to attach to other metals. There have been cases of the “iridium” tips falling off fake plugs with the obvious dire consequences.
  21. A bit more than the €47.53 I have listed but no idea how old the database is now plus you have to add in the inflation effects of global warming and the Ukraine war amongst others. If you get the cam adjustment bolt included that’s €12.00 on top and they do tend to seize up. Make a note of the position of this to get it back in a similar position and perhaps consider alignment once fitted.
  22. It’s not listed on LPD just a suggestion to give them a call for the price 😀
