  1. I used the lawnmower to sweep the leaves up, petrol Honda rotary ( still Japanese reliability but not a Lexus) cut on highest setting, sucks em up and chops down into small pieces, better than the back breaking lawn rake method.
  2. Hello Si and welcome to the LOC. Please feel free to list your problems with your IS, there's normally someone on here who will know the cause and the cure if it's not already been posted before. I'm a V8 man but nothing wrong with a straight 6.
  3. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I heard you can turn off the interior motion sensor with the remote keyfob, this is for situations like leaving a dog in the car for a short period so it doesn't trigger the alarm. Not sure on the proceedure but seem to remember pressing the lock button twice, if you have the owner's manual it should be detailed in there.
  4. Not sure on whether front or rear, maybe an idea to call them or email to clarify. No idea on fronts, obviously won't be detailed in service manual as Lexus would replace the complete hub I would imagine, I know on the LS the tooth ring is set into the hub which would mean bearing removal and replacement to change the ring.
  5. I know one or two CT owners have been looking for one of these so thought I would flag it up. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-CT200h-17-SPACE-SAVER-SPARE-WHEEL-2011-ONWARDS-/161922939864?hash=item25b35bfbd8:g:XG4AAOSwUdlWdaGj
  6. As above, the adjustment of the driver's/passenger seats by a new owner can cause strain to the under seat wiring and connectors which may have not moved for years plus have the OBD codes read which may point you in the right direction as to the cause.
  7. Putting the car details in comes up with the reluctor rings for £2.99. http://www.jandrcvjoints.co.uk/
  8. From what I have read previously it may be worth haggling with extended warranties as the cost does seem to be flexible, Lexus also offer fixed price servicing and packages which may be worth considering also.
  9. Excellent, let us know how it goes and post some pictures up of your IS when you get the chance. You may be the only member in Venezuela we have in the LOC so be good to see the car in it's new location :) Is it true that petrol over there is a few cents a litre?
  10. If ya can't pass them drive over them :) Looks brand new underneath, trouble is will it stay that way now it's in the UK environment. Probably end up in Chelsea, does look nice though.
  11. Hello Roman and welcome to the LOC. I've checked the Lexus part numbers for both LHD and RHD models and the part numbers for the clutch parts are the same so you should be fine ordering either kit. Aisin make the automatic transmissions for Lexus so are well respected, Blue print also have a good reputation for quality.
  12. Perhaps aftermarket production has ceased due to lack of demand, what is surprising is that it is sometimes worth phoning Lexus dealers more so those who sell parts on ebay as they can have older parts left on the shelf and to get rid of them offer heavy discounts.
  13. What happens if you turn right when reversing with the wipers on? :) Seriously it may be worth removing the plastic covers and checking the wiper linkages for wear or excess play.
  14. Good choice of owner's club, welcome to the LOC. Feel free to post up links of any prospective buys and we will comment good or bad.
  15. Normal proceedure is to press and hold the down button and continue to hold down for a few seconds after the window has fully opened the repeat with the up button holding again for a few seconds after it has fully closed. You may also hear a beep. Repeat for each window. Some of the ealier generation Lexus models didn't need windows resetting after a battery disconnect. If you don't have the owner's manual and you have the 1st generation model I have a spare going for the cost of the postage.
  16. The part is called "Weather strip, luggage compartment door" part number 64462-24010 price around £110.00 from Lexus. Several members have purchased lengths of the correct type on ebay for a lot less.
  17. Hello Tom and welcome to the LOC. Main thing is a full Lexus service history and preferably few previous owners. I'm not aware of the misfire problem you mention but being heavy cars check the suspension during a test drive for knocks and clunks indicating worn suspension components, make sure you press every button you can find to be sure it works. Lexus alloy wheels are well known for corrsion issues so you may find them refurbished or needing it, check tyres for even wear. Sorry that's about all I can offer regarding buying advice but pretty sure some GS owners will add their comments. Feel free to post up links of any you are interested in.
  18. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I've only once test driven the CT200h but was quite impressed with it, bit spooky pulling out of junctions with no reasuring engine noise at first but nippy enough when it got going.
  19. Why pay an independent garage if the vehicle is under a Lexus warranty, if Lexus diagnose and then say "wear and tear, not covered" then go back to plan B.
  20. From what I can see the rear vent is held in with 3 spring clips so gentle prising with a wallpaper scraper should release it and the cigar lighter as one unit, once removed the hinge should be visible along with the fixing screws.
  21. Sounds like air suspension from the description. A common problem is the failure of the height sensors on the LS430 due to water ingress, as far as I am aware replacement is the only option as they cannot be repaired. There is an alloy drop link on the sensor which is known to break on the earlier LS400 so it may be worth checking this on yours as these can be obtained as a seperate part. Have a look at the link below, not sure if the Lexus Guildford offer is still on though. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/62888-ls430-height-sensors/
  22. As above, go for a Japanese made kit and a Gates branded belt. You can also buy from some US Lexus dealers who will ship over to the UK or another good source of discounted OEM parts is www.amayama.com. Even with VAT and import charges the parts should be considerably cheaper than UK dealers. The early LS400 engines are non interference so if the belt does break the engine will not be damaged.
  23. I know Mike (Bluesman) has it fitted to his LS400 and swears by it, maybe worth asking him.
  24. It sounds like you are having the same problem as I did when trying to replace the sepentine belt, they seem to be too small to fit over the pulleys, on one attempt I was actually kneeling on the top of the engine pulling the belt up with both hands trying to get it over the pulley. With less complicated pulley set ups you can actually wind the belt on but not with these engines. Most belts are described as follows 6PK**** which translates as a 6 rib belt and the **** is the belt length in mm so a 6PK2228 is a 2228mm length. The problem I found was there are different belt lengths quoted for the same engine 2228/2241/2250 are all shown to fit the LS400 engines. After ordering 2 different length belts both being described as suitable and too tight to fit I decided to go one size bigger and found the solution. The belt was a Gates 6PK2270, this fitted easily over all the pulleys and the auto tensioner was midpoint between fully pushed back and fully slack i.e. where it should be leaving enough adjustment as the belt stretches to take up the slack. There is very little play in the tensioner maybe 30 degrees on the ratchet from one end to the other.
  25. If it was a single rectifier diode this would be there to prevent reverse polarity connection as a diode will only conduct in one direction, most cigar socket type plugs have a fuse installed in the tip which should be transferred over to a hard wired installation for continued protection ( an inline fuse holder is a good substitute)
