  1. I think I have a spare series III LS400 wheel with good tyre knocking around, I'll take a look in the shed.
  2. Curious to know what he means by "good money" Saw one on fleabay with 50,000 asking for a premium price.
  3. With water being a by product of combustion it is always present in the exhaust gas as H2O but in cold weather it tends to condense more in the rear boxes which are cooler due to the ambient air temperature and distance from the engine. As they do warm up the collected water then boils off as steam hence the white cloud, if I rev mine water actually spits out of the tailpipes until it has all evaporated.
  4. I knew about it and cowardly didn't want to say anything. There was no easy way to say it Mike so I just said it :)
  5. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I guess the usual places to look are Amazon and Ebay and perhaps Halfords. Main thing is to get a breathable one that allows moisture out and a good fitting design, some of the cheap ones are little more than a sheet of polythene with a few fixings, the 1st high winds and away it goes! Another idea if you are planning on long term standing is to get some silica gel packs to put inside the car which will absorb any moisture present.
  6. The word is NGK Iridiums are the way to go, apparently good for 100,000 miles.
  7. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Unfortunately the engines fitted to the IS220d appear to have serious defects given the amount of posts on here and the web which have in the past resulted in Lexus fitting new engines or completely rebuilding them. The failed head gasket problem can result in damage to other components like the turbocharger. Clogged up EGR valves are another along with failed DPFs The problem was so bad Lexus extended the warranty on the engines to 107,000 miles or 7 years provided the car had a FLSH. Replacing just the head gasket will probably not provide a lasting repair as it is thought the problem is caused by the cylinder head moving on the block and the heads cannot be skimmed. Strangely enough Lexus no longer produce a diesel engined model having been stung by their only venture into diesels. Personally given the short time you have had the car I would be thinking of rejecting the car and returning it under your statutory rights. You should have joined the LOC before you bought the car whereupon we would have pushed you towards the IS250. More depressing reading http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/70967-is220d-head-gasket-gone/
  8. If it's working OK personally I would leave it be, change the brake fluid by all means. Even if you change the master cylinder seals you will still have all the original seals in the brake calipers and ABS. Cylinder repair kit 04493-30290 around £90.00 Master cylinder 47201-50280 around £260.00 this price does not include the fluid reservoir and the 2 new seals required at around £9.00 each
  9. I've seen the "flip" type keys where the blade folds into the plastic part but like non genuine replacements quality again may be the issue. The keys can't be all metal as the transmitter inside would be screened so wouldn't work. Obviously Lexus sell the keys but make sure you are sitting down before you ask the price.
  10. Feel free to post up the link, I promise I won't nip in and buy it :) With a near FLSH I wouldn't worry about the mileage with these engines, bit high on owner changes though perhaps all the previous owners needed to upgrade to supercars after driving the ISF.
  11. I always thought ethanol caused damage to rubber this being discovered when it was added to diesel and it began to attack seals and other rubber components in the fuel system.
  12. You wouldn't think it would make such a difference but there you go, how did you discover this was the cause...new torque wrench for Christmas :) or a second opinion.
  13. Hello and welcome to the LOC. When you say "bad" what exactly do you mean..too hard, too soft, too bouncy around corners?
  14. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Nice choice of Lexus, alloy wheels have always been prone to paint peeling and corrosion once it breaks through but do come up nice if refurbished. I guess it's stonechips on the bonnet. I think the harnesses are available for fitting aftermarket audio kit in the IS so should be plug and play. From your username I'm guessing bass guitarist, we have a few musicians on the forums including Bluesman another moderator :)
  15. Hello and welcome to the LOC. It could be a number of things but try removing the disc and giving the unit a blast of air through the disc slot from a hairdryer on the cool setting, if there is any dust in there that may shift it.
  16. Sounds like the laser is mistracking due to dust on the optical pick up lens, you could try blasting some compressed air through the cd slot after removing all the discs.
  17. Generally if it is rated at 80 KPH/50 MPH it will be a spacesaver type.
  18. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I found this from another club, I also found more information by googling "Lexus IS250 radio wiring diagram" http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/540442-finally-a-factory-amp-wiring-diagram.html
  19. Not local to the area but it's located at the side of a dual carriageway with Ferrybridge at the roundabout for the M62 half a mile down the road, there is a "hand car wash" next to it. Regarding accessing a car for someone else the question is if I was looking for a car for myself would I buy it ? I spend a good 2 hours there and of course liased with the buyer during this time.
  20. The headlight height sensor links are a common fail on the series IV LS400, I do have a couple of replacements knocking around if anyone needs one.
  21. Hello and welcome to the LOC, where abouts are you based as this may affect where you can get hold of aftermarket parts?
  22. I think clarification is required here, when you say "gas" are you refering to LPG/Propane or using the american terminology for petrol?
