From what I under stand Denis you have a 1995 model year LS400 but it is fitted with the later type 5 spoke wheels shown in your video, if that is correct then the link you posted and is reposted below has the correct wheel to match those already on your car. http://www.dewsburyautosalvage.com/cars-for-breaking/lexus/lexus-ls400-4200-1991-black-manual-petrol-4-door.html What has happened to your wheel arch, never seem one so rusty?

Hello and welcome to the LOC. You changed the battery for a new one whcih is fully charged and ready to go? If you know the battery is good then have you connected it up correctly? These are the classic symptoms of the + and - terminalls being reverse connected, usually blows several fuses including the 120 Amp alternator fuse.

Take a look at the link below it explains all of the markings on the tyre, I think you will find your tyre size is 225/60 not 225/66 and the R indicates it is a radial type tyre as opposed to a crossply. So 225 is the tyre tread width in mm 60 is the aspect ratio of the tyre in other words the sidewall height of the tyre is 60% of the treadwidth ( 135.0 mm in your case). R indicates it is a radial biased tyre ( how the tyre is constructed) 16 is the tyre diameter in inches. ( the inner hole ) If there has ever been a case of mix and match with imperial and metric measurements tyres have to be the ultimate one!! There is more information on tyres like speed rating and load ratings and even manufaturing dates but don't be too concerned about this. http://www.blackcircles.com/general/sidewall

Is it just me that I can't seem to reply to a post without quoting another post? Looking at the damage it doesn't look like a corrosion issue that has caused the hole/slit in the pipe, the edges looked jaggered as if it has possibly been struck by something. The evidence in the photograph of exhaust sealant are clear to see confirming it has been bodged and this has now fallen off. The 3 month warranty is valid for this claim so don't let them put you off, if Bolton fail to respond again send a written complaint in with the photograph and any other relative information by recorded delivery, explain what you would like done to resolve the issue and give them a reasonable timescale to carry out this work. Obviously this would have to be done at a dealer nearer to your home so also request this. Also mention the matter has become public on this forum which reflects badly on Lexus.

Hello and welcome to the LOC. If you want to go the OEM route then have a look at the link below, Lexus Birmingham have some good offers on and it may be worth giving them a call to see if a direct deal would reduce the price further ( bypass Ebay ) Delivered to your door too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lexus-Front-Discs-Pads-GS300-3-GS450h-04465-30500-/171967667944?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item280a125ee8:m:m6Wk3v0SfQZ_UWAMc2PPwfQ You could also go with after market parts but I would imagine there would be little difference in price from the likes of Blueprint plus some other pad brands have squeal problems and excessive dust.

Finally Part Of The Club
steve2006 replied to GibletPH's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I'm a bit annoyed that you must have passed my house near the M1 junction 28 and didn't call in for a cup of tea and then take me for a run around in your new ISF Last time I drove one was around 4-5 years ago at a Lexus Open Road day, still suffer from whiplash due to excessive acceleration. -
Hello and welcome to the LOC. Only done 20 miles so far, sounds like a a good excuse to get out this weekend
-
My weekend project was going to be the cambelt but it hasn't arrived yet but last weekend I decided to service the brakes. After removing the offside rear wheel the height sensor rod wasn't broken it was completely missing the lever held in a fixed position with a nylon cable tie, new one made up ready to fit. This would explain the MOT fails over the last few years for headlight adjustment. The disc was badly worn and scored so a new pair and pads ordered which arrived yesterday. Brake fluid change at the same time as it looks very dark.
-
I'm up for it, we have held meets at the Plank and Leggit pub at Sawley Marina before close to the M1 A50 East Midlands Airport.
-
Description is vague to say the least, is there any service history? From the previous MOTs looks like someone didn't check their tyres very often for wear or punctures a sign of neglect, also seems to have been fitted with the cheap chinese upper control arms with dust covers splitting between tests. Bodywork looks pretty good though and the wheels look refurbed, interior is another matter looks like a carpet out job to get that clean. For the offered money it doesn't look bad, 2000 model year too. Sorry Steve this one is too far for me to travel to.

slipping when cold. between park and drive auto box problem
steve2006 replied to Neddypong's topic in Engine & Transmission
Even though the fluid looks OK it may be worth replacing it, does it smell burnt? Another known problem is sticking shift solenoids, they can get gummed up and either stick or are slow to move, as the transmission warms up they tend to then free off. They can be bought as a set and are replaced by removing the sump so no need to remove the transmission.- 1 reply

I'll measure it up for you over the weekend as at work all week and dark when leaving and getting back, it needs new bonnet struts so rather lift it up and brace with the wood stick in good light.
-
The fact that has only happened since you fitted what is I assume a lightened flywheel would suggest it has something to do with the noise you now have probably due to the original clutch assembly being left in

When mine had to have a VIC at VOSA they couldn't issue the certificate because the chassis number beginning UCF-10 instead said VCF-10 on the V5C, only took a couple of days to sort between VOSA and the DVLA. The VOSA guy said it was quite a common senario. I also fitted a private plate on mine but now find any website where they ask you to enter your registration number so they can confirm your car details isn't recognised.

Part Numbers
steve2006 replied to jayt13's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
It does happen, there is a known problem with the LS steering position motors, the same part is used in other Toyota cars and is considerably cheaper than the Lexus price. On the other hand mine is JDM import model and if I use the Toyota part number it costs more than the same part under Lexus. There are also other options like buying from the USA or the likes of Amayama, even with import charges and shipping considerable savings can still be made. -
Welcome to the LOC. The last LS400s rolled of the production line in 2000 so the youngest are now 16 years old but are generally considered the best model ( series IV 98-00). There are still some good ones out there but they are becoming harder to find by the day. The early LS430s seem readily available but again time and patience will be required to find the one you want. The early 430s seem to have a few problems not present on the 400, height sensors fail, the transmission intercooler and engine coolant can cross contaminate wrecking the gearbox and the exhausts are no longer stainless steel.

Lexus IS300h or BMW 3 Series Saloon?
steve2006 replied to Dave748's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
The owner's manuals for the IS300h are available for free on the link below, may be worth taking a look regarding the Sat Nav and Infocentre operation before you do the test drive. http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/info/my-lexus/resources/submit-owners-manual-search;JSESSIONID_LEXUSDRIVERS=ZFpDWnkGVTpX7n2krZwGj1cSZN1wndJv28J2S1pt4vt1n0j1GV03!-1643345755?section=all&keywords=&searchType=&model=IS300&year=2016&x=27&y=12 -
I would ring a few local trusted garages and get some quotes to compare, mine has the labour times quoted from Autodata, I would guess with the correct tools the job would take 4-6 hours at whatever their labour rate is per hour ( for comparison I think Lexus charger £125.00/hour mine charges £50.00). Obviously price will also depend on if you chose to use OEM Lexus/Toyota parts but pretty sure there will be OEM quality aftermarket ones from the likes of Bork and Beck or Sachs, it may be worth checking out Eurocarparts for prices. Another concern is if the car is fitted with a DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) which may be an additional cost if it is also defective.

I was always under the impression that car airbags were something like a quickly inflated baloon but didn't realise the technology behind the system until I found this regarding the chemical reactions that occur during its deployment and all this in less time than it takes to blink! "It takes three reactions to operate an airbag. Everything begins with a pellet containing a mixture of sodium azide, potassium nitrate and silicon dioxide. During a collision, a deceleration sensor ignites the gas mixture, causing sodium azide to decompose into nitrogen gas and sodium metal. The nitrogen gas inflates the bag, but sodium metal is potentially explosive, so a second reaction occurs to remove it. This involves sodium reacting with potassium nitrate to produce potassium oxide, sodium oxide and additional nitrogen gas. The metal oxides, also unstable, then react with silicon dioxide to produce silicate glass. And it all happens in 40 milliseconds." If you're going anywhere near the airbag system always disconnect the battery and then wait at least 10 minutes as the ECU has back up power which needs time to discharge, if you are not sure get the experts in. These things can save you from serious injury but can result in it unless treated with respect. Just watch these idiots for how not to safely discharge one!

When you say warranty is this an approved Lexus extended warranty? I understand the hybrid drive warranty has been extended subject to an annual hybrid health check.

The clutch is hydraulically operated so there will be no adjustment for the bite point, does sound like a worn clutch plate. Just because it has only covered 58,000 miles doesn't mean the clutch should still be good, if you or a previous owner qre/was a "clutch rider" it will wear much faster.

I bet it's to replace that modified VIP badged grille Phil, it actually has a slat cut out of it to accomodate the badge. I once had a similar problem and got around it by sending a suitable box stuffed with bubblewrap and a prepaid return label using one of the cheap online couriers ( I use Myhermes but others are available). All the seller had to do was wrap the bubble wrap around the part put it in the box, reseal it and stick the label on, they even collect. Total cost both ways should be under a tenner.
