  1. The later LS400 mirrors have a small PCB ( electronics board) inside the motor casing, this has 2 Hall sensors which detect both the vertical and horizontal position of the mirror glass, these detectors rely on a small cylindrical magnet on each axis for reference. Over time dirt can enter the plastic tube these magnets move in so preventing their movement the ECU then tries to reset and the result is a random movement of the mirror glass. If you're brave enough you can actually strip the mirror down and clean the guts to cure the problem.
  2. I've moved this post to the RX forum as you may get more responses, when you replaced the battery did you disturb any other electrical connections, it may be worth checking where the battery is for disconnected plugs or damaged wiring.
  3. The only wheels with the same PCD as the LS400 are from the 97-05 Freelander all other models are different, the bore is also different at 64.1 whereas Lexus is 60.1 so you will also need spigot rings.
  4. Once again this evening the usual overhead speed limit signs were illuminated on the M1 between junctions 25 and 28, we were all reduced to 60 even though there were no queues and lane 4 was almost empty of the usual german vehicles that tend to frequent the lane. I have now worked out that the word SMART stands for Start Making Additional Revenue Today!
  5. Could you post a picture up of what you have left of the key?
  6. Hola and welcome to the LOC. A very nice Lexus, you give the fuel figures in mile per gallon are you not on kilometers per litre
  7. It's usually the lower arm inner bushes that go and these are available for around ££25.00, Lexus only do the complete arm at around £200.00, LBJs are around £120.00 a pair from Lexus http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS400-4-0I-UCF20-94-01-FRONT-LOWER-WISHBONE-TRACK-CONTROL-ARM-FRONT-BUSH-/171192788636?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item27dbe2a69c:g:aIIAAOxygPtSpwHW
  8. Sounds about right, just making up for pressure lost overnight, no system is completely airtight sealed.
  9. RHD model so would assume located in Japan where the required parts can probably be bought for a few pounds and not the 1000s needed to do the job over here. Nice job but I would have just bought the 460 as a complete car.
  10. I've noticed the battery goes flat pretty quickly if the doors are open or the stereo is left on for an hour or 2 but when you think how many interior lights are on with doors open, dome light, puddle lights, seatbelt buckle lights, ignition lock light these do draw some current.
  11. Looks nice but a little concerning that the cam belt is original given the change is due at 100,000 miles OR 10 years whichever comes 1st so 4 years overdue!
  12. From the wheel it seems to have been a series I 1990-1992 model, LHD so would assume USA car, the engine can't be seen in the picture so may have ended up in the passenger cabin.
  13. They are normally illuminated with small filiment bulbs, never repaired one but if you can solder not too bad a job to do. I'll try and take a look at mine this weekend and see what's involved to repair it.
  14. Even a tank can be destroyed, no more details other than the driver was killed after this incident.
  15. Access to the sub wiring is via the boot, not sure but the impedance of the LS400 sub is 2 Ohms and you can measure this with a digital multimeter set to resistance, there is no fuse involved.
  16. Hi Neil and welcome to the LOC. That looks a mean IS already, there are a few members on here who have TC versions so some should chip in with answers for you, there is also a member selling one in the for sale section although this was some weeks ago now. Must admit I'd love to bolt a charger on my LS.
  17. OBDII code readers won't work on early LS400 models as they use the blinking light method.
  18. CL55 AMG very nice, driven the SL55 AMG is it the same engine?
  19. There are plenty available on ebay.com but of course completely useless for UK RHD models, you may find a source in Japan who do drive like us on the left but it is not easy to order anything from Japan. Should you want to try the Lexus LS400 is known as the Toyota Celsior in Japan.
  20. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Take a look at the link below which may be useful. http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/CT200h-with-nav-LPS.pdf
  21. Good to hear you got it sorted. I'm just down the A38 from you near Alfreton, I'll PM my contact details to you, think I have a toolkit torch somewhere in my collection of parts but no spare owner's books ( there are 2 in the set,one just for the Sat Nav)
  22. If you bought it from a motor dealer you do automatically have a warranty under the Consmer Rights Act which means the car has to be as described and fit for purpose and free from defects. Have a read of the link below for more details, as you mention apptoach the dealer and ask them nicely to put things tight. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/car-buyers-guide/cbg_legalrights.html
  23. Hello and welcome to the LOC. A first check would be to confirm the tyre pressures are correct, the tyres are all the same size and the car is parked on level ground. I'm not too clued up on the later LS models but would assume it is on air supension so possible causes are a faulty suspension height sensor ( very common on earlier models) or a defective air strut although these tend to show the problem up when stood for some time as the air pressure leaks out. If the car is on conventional spring suspension then I would suspect a broken spring. When you say you bought it recently is there any warranty on it?
