Mine was at 62,000 km converted to 38,000 on purchase, 10 years later is now around 85,000 miles. Only clocking up around 2000 miles a year now.

As a fellow Celsior owner I share the pain, mine is slightly modified with different wheels and clear indicators, more popular over the pond with the wide body look but they have bigger parking spaces! Why spend all that money and not repair the mileometer?

Itend to remove my under engine cover completely but as suggested you can get away with just a few 10mm bolts local to the filter area, obviously top up the oil to make up the filter loss.

In all the past cases it has been the buried one, cheap to buy but a pig to replace.

I'm keeping my 1999 series IV with 137,000, cambelt all done, brakes all serviced and full service to do yet. My other LS is on classic insurance so I have full NCB to insure this one.

I'll take it Phil, trying to keep my series II on the road as long as possible.

I bought some from either fleabay/Amazon when Mine was bumped, can't remember the width offhand but was a perfect fit, my original trim has the black end mouldings but you can't tell unless you get very close. Fitting tips are to remove any remaining old adhesive with some isopropyl soaked rag and warm the bumper and new trim with a hairdryer to make it more pliable and stick better.

There are 3 versions of the JDM Celsiors, A,B and C-F . I have a B spec which has leather and a C-F which has leather massage seats and Sat nav in a 1994 model year so they do vary.

Hello and welcome to the LOC. Some pictures would be good to see and where did you find this low milage example? There are some very low imported ones on ebay, have been on sale for months, they are asking 7.5 k for them!

When front tracking is adjusted the steering wheel is normally centred and then locked to prevent any movement while the adjustments are made, if the wheel is not set exactly or moves during adjustment this will produce an off centre steering wheel, I think also the track rods have to be adjusted equally both sides to maintain centre steering wheel position. It does happen and I'm pretty sure ATS would sort it for you without any further expense.

I am assuming this is the rear sensor Part 3, the bracket shown on your picture is available as a spare part from Lexus dealers, part number is 48728-30040 priced according to Toyodiy.com at €3.71. The other part ( 1 and 2) is only available as the complete sensor unit at €387.57 from Lexus but there is another way. Take a look at the link below as there have been similar problems with a similar part on the LS400 models, the link shows what is needed to make a replacement with some threaded rod and 2 ball joints, I have made some for other members and could do one for you but would need the correct measurement for the IS220d ( shown as 90mm on the link you would need to give me the measurement for yours) http://www.evansweb.info/2009/11/23/ls400-ride-height-sensor-repair/

I would suggest removing the battery from the car and charging it with one of the new type smart chargers which will automatically test the condition of the battery before charging it at the optimum rate, if the battery has failed during its non use period this would also be flagged up. Once fully charged and back on the car as you mention you need to reset the security system by leaving the ignition on for around 5 minutes the engine should then start. The check VSC light may come on but will go off after running for a while. You may have to reset the steering and seat memories and radio stations, if you left the parking brake on the shoes may be stuck to the drum but generally break free when the car moves but may make a bang as they do. Another check given the storage conditions is for rodent damage, they seem to like chewing wiring looms and nesting in the engine bay. Just make sure you reconnect the battery the correct way around! You can also access the car with a flat battery using the key, the alarm back up battery will be depleted also so won't go off.

Thanks for getting back to us, every bit of infomation is useful. What may have happened was the battery was disconnected for some reason during the service and this would cause the ECU to reset to default condition, it has now relearn the correct parameters. Correct hot idle is 650 RPM +\- 50.

The VVTI engine has combined coil/igniters over plug and these are all operated from the ECM from individual ports. There are common connections to each coil with a blue wire/red stripe and then 2 outputs from the engine ECU which each feed 4 coils these being the plain yellow wire or the yellow wire with a green stripe, if you have lost one of these outputs it may explain why you have a complete bank of cylinders down. It would be a case of checking the connections to the coils on the defective bank. Also given the known problems with the engine ECU capacitors it may be worth investigating this also. It does sound more ignition related as the black plugs indicate fuel is being injected but not being burnt. Not sure if misfire monitoring is performed on the LS400 engine so the EML may not illuminate. After the O2 sensors were replaced the car then drove OK for a short while then reverted back to misfiring, this could be another indication of a faulty ECU as those capacitors are affected by heat, could you leave the car to cool right down then restart and see if the engine behaves until warmed up? The only other thing I can suggest is a blocked catalytic convertor on that bank, everything else like the AFM is shared across both banks so can be eliminated as a possible cause, may be an idea to get the garage to hook up a back pressure tester via the O2 sensor hole.

I see what you mean there is no stock anywhere in the UK for the spring even aftermarket. The only place I can find new stock is at Amayama.com who have them in the UAE for around £60.00 but this is plus shipping and VAT payable on import. Lexus Birmingham sell a lot of stuff on ebay so may be worth a call to them first.

Photography leaves a lot to be desired, seems to have lost 100,000 miles somewhere and after a year it fails the MOT on exactly the same things and now being sold after being left for another 4 years. Scrapyard material only me thinks.

I think I did a tutorial for the LS400 numberplate lights, there is very little room in there to get your fingers around the bulb holber and twist, worse trying to realign it before twisting it go back in.

I have the yellow fogs on mine, think they are a JDM thing plus they are one piece units not 2 part. The kit looks good, wondered if it was for LHD at first but all seems good for RHD. I wouldn't install it in the cold damp weather, wait until it gets warmer or use a hair dryer on the area you are sticking it to to warm it and evaporate any moisture. Might also be a good idea to wipe the area with some isopropyl alcohol to remove any grease residues before sticking it on. I'd hate to hear it begins peeling off after all the expense and trouble of fitting it.

Always good news a straight pass with no advisories, mine has failed twice in 10 years, once on lower balljoints and last time on corroded rear brake pipes but never had any advisories,can't grumble for a 22 year old car, most at that age have been crushed by now. A couple more years and it may hit the 100,000 mile mark.

One of the above posts suggests the throttle body as being the cause but perhaps a fault code read would be a good idea before changing anything. With the problem being temperature sensitive it may pay to check the coolant temperature sensor feeding the ECU, if this is saying the engine is cold when it is actually fully warmed up it will overfuel and give the problems you have.
