  1. Mine is officially Lexus Dark Silver......the DVLA have it as Bronze on the V5C. When I had some paintwork done the company that did it cursed as the paint had faded to a reddish silver, the only areas with the correct colour were under the door rubbers, under normal daylight you cannot tell but under their lights the differences were obvious.
  2. My fronts are now beginning to split but don't fancy DIY, you can buy kits containing the dye and filler from the usual on line companies like ebay and Amazon. I'm looking at a local company at around £100.00 a seat.
  3. Originally from new they should have been supplied with 2 master keys, 1 valet key and a skeleton key (just the blade). A valet key will not open the boot or glovebox and if the 430 as the 400 are the same will not unlock the remote boot and petrol tank flap.
  4. A cost free (apart from a bit of human effort) experiment is to swop the wheels front to back and see if the problem is eliminated or changes, don't forget the tyres are directional so only move the tyres front to rear, rear to front on the same side. Suspension component wear can also cause wheel balance effects also.
  5. You did well to get the wood steering wheel for that price, they are fetching hundreds these days and that is fully stripped down so basically the rim only, plus the cost of treatment for potential woodworm
  6. Genuine Lexus batteries are generally not badly priced, another member recently had his replaced on an LS400 with free fitting for less than £100.00 with a 4 year warranty plus a free valet and drink all you can coffee at the dealer. Always worth a phone call.
  7. Even cheaper compatible ATF, buy it quick in case we leave the EU! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-1x20-Liter-MANNOL-ATF-Type-T-IV-Automatik-Getriebeol-fur-Toyota-Type-T-IV-/272088703071?hash=item3f59c0205f:g:DrIAAOSwiLdV8rLj Who wants to be the the first to try it? The last time I bought genuine Toyota Type IV it was around £60.00 for 5 litres.
  8. Hello and welcome to the LOC. We need to see pictures of this supercharged engine and the car of course. According to the link below the problem is generally caused by worn bearings in the IACV which can be replaced for a few pounds, the fact that the idle speed changes when you tap the valve body would seem to confirm this as the mechanical shock will release the tight bearings. Got to be worth a try me thinks. http://planetsoarer.com/IAC/iac.htm
  9. That looks very nice, welcome back to Lexus ownership
  10. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Strangely enough there was a post on the forums a short while ago commenting that there were more ISFs for sale on AT than has ever been seen before so perhaps a good chance to get the spec you want. I had the chance to drive one several years ago at a Lexus Open Road Day, bit nippy it was
  11. This is the kind of repair we like, a dose of Servisol switch cleaner
  12. You don't need to own a Lexus to be a member on the LOC, a healthy interest is fine. Fell free to pop in anytime, I've seen this many times and once again I feel you will be yearning another Lexus sooner than you think. Taken from a well known lager, "If only Lexus made motorhomes"
  13. Similar with mine regarding the brakes, 1st MOT after I bought it had advisories for front brake flexihoses cracked and discs scored. Test was done by a local company with around 4 centres. For the remaining 10 years it has gone to my local independent garage and these 2 items have never been mentioned since even though they have never been replaced and the discs are still originals.
  14. Where did you buy the car from a dealer or private sale? It could be many things from a faulty height sensor to an air strut problem. Have you checked the tyres are at the correct pressures?
  15. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Excellent choice of Lexus model, any pictures to share?
  16. Hello and welcome to the LOC and back to IS ownership. Strange how my pictures always appear upside down and yours on their side.
  17. My imported LS400 has a delimiter fitted as they are limited to 180KMH in Japan, never been tested though.
  18. Is there a part number stamped on it? It may be to access the oil filter during a service.
  19. Such a pity that quality fell off the cliff for the later Lexus models, mine is original at 22 years old.....stainless steel makes all the difference. Have one custom made probably half the price and will outlast the rest of the car.
  20. Hello and welcome to the LOC. How did the locksmith guy test the battery, mine was doing the same with the light flashing but no operation and a new battery sorted it so I would for the sake a couple of pounds fit a new one before anything else. Not sure if this carried over from the LS400 but to reset those fobs you simply put the key in the ignition, turned to ign position and left it for around 10 minutes, remove key, reinsert and then it was reset.
  21. This owner's club will not tolerate cruelty to any animals this includes respraying your cat, if it was black and white when you got it leave it that way.
  22. The actual switch is attached to the bottom of the ignition lock and can be removed and replaced without disturbing the lock, basically cowling off, detach switch, unplug loom and reverse fit new one.
