No problem, I'll PM you tomorrow. I did the exact same thing a few years ago, bought another set then found the original nuts, since then having broken an LS400 I have plenty. Just bought another set of aftermarket wheels and blow me I need yet another type of nuts (Tuner) as the holes in the wheels are too small for conventional nuts plus another set of spigot rings.

Horn not working
steve2006 replied to 39buss's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Arr wasn't sure with the 430 so we can safe assume that both horns haven't failed at the same time, when I get a few minutes I'll take a look at the wiring diagram and come back to you. -

Also take a look at a company call Big Redd they do exchange rebuilt calipers for most models. -
Hello and welcome to the LOC. I just mentioned LBJs in another post by coincidence. There are some dubious quality ones always on fleabay, cheap, nasty and unlikely to last very long. Being a critical safety suspension component I would go for either OEM or a good aftermarket supplier like ADT Blueprint, check prices as some Blueprint LBJs cost more than Lexus parts. Buy the parts for the IS200 model, mentioning JDM models usually means a higher cost for the same part, this comes from the experience of owning a Toyota Celsior.

Nitrogen Inflation
steve2006 replied to Mike Peter's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Having a MIG welder and a cylinder of CO2 I put this in my tyres, being heavier than air this makes the tyres produce more ground force which greatly improves the feel of the steering and vehicle stability. OK I made that up but am enjoying the debate.... Keep it civil please :) -
Horn not working
steve2006 replied to 39buss's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Is it a single horn on the LS430? There should also be a horn relay possibly located in the engine compartment fusebox, if you have a multimeter remove the horn plug and set to DC Volts connect the leads to the 2 wires in the plug, get someone to press the horn pad and see if the battery voltage appears. -
I'll second that, they seem to have a good reputation for quality and long life however I would check OEM Lexus prices as the LS400 lower balljoints from BP cost more than OEM! Lexus Birmingham sell a lot of parts on ebay so may be worth asking their price, if you are in no hurry there is Amayama.com who sell OEM parts with heavy discounts even taking into account shipping and import taxes.

Unsure myself just a snippit of info picked up from reading car magazines over the years, the seals are directional and have to be fitted the correct way around, reversing the fluid flow direction could I guess flip the seal. I would imagine that the only true test would be to disconnect the 2 pipes from the Master cylinder, fit blanking plugs and then see if the pedal still hits the deck when pressed. Another possible is air in the ABS block located under the airfilter housing, there is also a bleed nipple on this.

Hello and welcome to the LOC. Get on well with the inlaws then? Were you not aware of these defects before you bought it? OK I had to get the inlaws jokey bit in but seriously did no one mention these problems, the dash problem may be just the backlights out, a case of locating the correct type of bulbs ( usually from ebay or Amazon sellers) then removing the dash cluster ( there will be a tutorial somewhere on the web or other members will know how). Replace the bulbs and refit. The water leak from past experience is usually caused by block drains around the sunroof, there are usually 4 so one in each corner, the drain pipes tend to clog up and water then builds up and overflows into the interior. It's a case of locating the drain holes and clearing them, the front ones are usually visible once the roof is opened the rear ones are a bit harder to locate with the glass frame partially obstructing access, thick strimmer nylon cord is a good choice for a drain rod and a washing up liquid bottle filled with plain water to flush the pipes.

tyres what a bargain i have
steve2006 replied to 200h's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Interesting that the wear is due to the camber set up, Lexus are also probably aware but good for new tyre sales. -

Any stored codes? -
When you pushed the pistons back in the calipers did you first loosen the caliper bleed nipples? Reason I ask is that if you didn't you mat have turned a seal inside out in the master cylinder resulting in no brake pressure, this would be confirmed if there are no obvious signs of fluid leaks and the reservoir level remains constant.

Been looking for a while for some different wheels for the LS and finally found a set in good condition with nearly new tyres not too far from me and for a reasonable price. Being aftermarket I needed some spigot rings as the bore is 72.5 and Lexus are 60.1 but these were easily (coincidently just arrived from Amazon as I write). I thought the holes for the wheel nuts looked very narrow and this was confirmed when after a shed search I found my set of taper nuts and they dont even go into the hole, turns out I need some special "Tuner nuts" which are a narrower nut with a hex key fitting in the top, found a set on fleabay for under £20.00. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151923685216?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Something new I've learnt today.

This one made me laugh just 2 pictures of the engine and dash, none of the actual car. Brake warning light is on so needs new pads, major selling point is the complete toolkit ( but does it have the torch?). Has another set of tyres but 2 of these need going on the car probably as those already on are worn out. No mention of any service history but sounds like it hasn't wanted for anything apart from tyres and brake pads......maybe not. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS-400-/262459443803?hash=item3d1bcd4a5b:g:ptcAAOSwa81XSxZk

If you are still struggling to get hold of a good working IACV I have one from a 1994 Toyota Celsior part number is 22270-50020, this is compatible with yours. As this is taken off a good complete engine I would need your old unit to repair and refit so I can still sell the engine as complete. PM me if interested.

Always makes me smile when people sell cars with the " Aircon not working probably just needs a top up" when they probably know this is something more serious and it's going to cost money to fix. If it does just need a top up personally I would pay the £40-50 to have it done and then sell the car described as " Aircon recently recharged, tested with no leaks and ice cold"
