  1. Torch is still in the bag.....buy it Looks the part, worth a visit me thinks.
  2. The most exposed part of the AC system is the condensor mounted at the front of the car in from of the radiator, subjected to water, flying stones etc it's prime candidate.
  3. Hello and welcome to the LOC. My Lexus is so old it used to have a cassette tape player in it The paint and wheel combination look great on yours.
  4. They may be but I'll let you know as I have the other 1999 LS400 which could do with a set as the OEM wheels are in the usual state. Yes they are a straight fit, even have spigot rings and normal Lexus wheel nuts are needed.
  5. Lexus recommended Ebay for the part? If parts are in the UK then Lexus can usually get them delivered next day especially with a commonly failing part as the height sensor, was the ebay seller a Lexus dealer as I know certain ones do list parts and did it come in genuine Lexus packaging as certain far eastern countries are very good at couterfeit parts. Looks like a case of having the part fitted again and then sending the ebay one back to the seller for a refund. Sorry I know this isn't much help or comfort but if Lexus do supply the part and fit it there will be a warranty on it. Finally welcome to the LOC, please keep us posted on what happens.
  6. That's why they all have "Cruise Control" set it then clamber into the back...drives itself you know Only in the USA though.
  7. By a strange coincidence there was a recent post on the forum regarding a wood steering wheel. Someone mentioned there was one on Pre Loved so I took a look. The steering wheel was very overpriced but these wheels were also listed at £350.00, a little bit of haggling and they were mine. There are none on fleabay as I now need an 18" spare. I do however now have a set of 17" Enkei wheels sat in my garage looks like a Formula 1 pit lane.
  8. You are aware of the potential engine problems with the IS220d, not saying they have all had problems but do a search on the forums. Oh nearly forgot....welcome to the LOC
  9. There are usually a lot of O ring seals in pressure washers, lack of use can cause them to perish.
  10. Concern with those symptoms is did they also change the transmission fluid and not put the correct Toyota specification fluid back in?
  11. Been looking for some time for some 18" wheels to replace the current 17s as they don't fill out the arches and found these on Pre Loved locally. Guy bought them new in January for his GS300 then sold the car shortly afterwards so both wheels and tyres are like new with Uniroyal Rainsport 3s all round, wheels are german made Rial Cantania. Spigot rings, cone nuts and set of locking nuts thrown in for £300.00.
  12. I did email them asking for confirmation but have received no response up to now. I also contacted Pre Loved who unlike Fleabay actually act, they replied to my email said they would investigate and the ad has now been removed. It is still on the other link though.
  13. Hello and welcome to the LOC. It looks like the Y pipe problem is an average £200.00 fix with another member paying the same in the northwest area, mine has recently developed a slight roar so I'll see what my local garage will charge me. For now it actually sounds like V8. You seem to have covered all the bases with your maintainance to date, I assume the cambelt is OK for now? Feel free to post some pictures up.
  14. As above, you can buy wide unbranded tape from Wilcos, clean all the old residue off ( iso alcohol is good to do this) and then cut a piece to side and attach. Use a sharp craft knife to cut out unwanted bits just leaving the badge with tape attached then peel off the backing, align and stick. Front badge is attached with one screw fitted from the rear of the grille.
  15. Another link same ad. More pictures but none of the front seats where wear would be obvious or the actual dash showing the mileage, engine bay certainly looks right for actual mileage! http://www.cheapmotors.co.uk/vehicle/details/42519940
  16. As I am finishing work shortly I am looking for a smaller Lexus for daily use and came across this one in the link. 2004 model with a mere 76,698miles for £1295.00 and one owner. On checking the MoT history it would seem that the real mileage was when last tested in May 2016 160,237 miles. http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/613910509/lexus-is-20-le-4dr.html?link=%2Fsearch%3Fkeyword%3DLexus%26page%3D4 Draw your own conclusions from this bearing in mind they have over 100 other cars for sale.
  17. Arc welding mask, stops the glare and virually all the light.....makes driving somewhat difficult though :)
  18. In the past we have held meets at the Plank and Leggitt pub, Sawley Marina, Derbyshire not far from Donnington Park so good for M1, A50 and A453. Big car park and food and drink available at this family friendly place. Other meets were at the Vue cinema car park, Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
  19. Apparently the earlier engines were better built for tuning having stronger con rods, there are no aftermarket upgrades and the ECU cannot be modified. Supercharging is a popular power boost with Eaton M90 being the one to go for combined with higher flow injectors. BMW gearboxes are popular for a manual transmission.
  20. I have my original beige mats which I use in the summer and a set of good quality rubber ones for the winter, why do you want to dye yours?
  21. Release date was October 1997, I had one 1st registered in November 97 but very few around.
