  1. I get Toyota red concentrate 5 litres for £22.00 at my local Lexus dealer, lifespan is 5 years.
  2. There are many companies in the UK who will make you a custom built cat back stainless steel system, seen them on ebay for my LS400 with a dual system for around £500.00. I recently purchased a nearly new set of 18" alloys ( German made Rial Catania ) with as new Rainsport 3 tyres for £300.00, found them on Pre-Loved so check out ebay, Gumtree. You need wheels with a PCD of 114.3 5 stud, offset 35-45.
  3. I think I've mentioned this before but everytime you obtain a car insurance quote they do a credit reference check for each one, this apparently doesn't affect your credit rating but why is it done at the quote stage and not when you actually take out a policy. I always pay my premium in one go so don't require credit so shouldn't be checked. Because I have the credit monitoring as part of my bank account the mobile has a fit of texts if I ask for quotes online. Makes me wonder if the quote is based also on your credit rating!
  4. According to the technical sheet for dealer programmable options the fronts cannot be turned off, the volume of the warning sound can be set only. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/attachments/rx-2nd-gen-2004-2009/113998d1194535434-how-to-set-lexus-personalized-settings-lexus-personalisation-settings-rev.pdf
  5. MIG tip, the throw away gas bottles are expensive, if you have a friendly pub landlord see if he will sell you a full CO2 gas bottle and regulator, with occasional use it will last for years. Also the large drums of wire work out cheaper than the small ones. Finally don't ever strike an arc without the mask up, arc eye from personal experience is like having had your eye balls sandblasted and the effects do not appear until later.
  6. The mirror glass is removed by tugging from the bottom which releases the 2 clips either side ( a yellow duster slid behind and brought together in the front middle is the safest method) once the clips are released pull the bottom slightly foward then upwards to release the 2 top hinges then disconnect the wiring and remove. A new glass from Lexus is around £220.00 but there are generic replacements on ebay complete with the backing plate and heated they won't of course be auto dimming, couple of used ones but difficult to see what the glass is like from the pictures. Chepest ones are the stick over type but these do look tacky in my personal opinion. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=lexus+tx300+mirror&_osacat=179680&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xlexus+rx300+mirror.TRS0&_nkw=lexus+rx300+mirror&_sacat=179680
  7. One of the wheel speed sensors is the common cause, check the wiring to each one and the plug connections. You can also measure the resistance of individual sensors which is normally around 1000-2000 ohms. Other causes are a damaged toothed reluctor ring mounted on the hub or the build up of dirt on the wheel sensor head. I don't understand why diagnostics have not picked up a code as this would have pointed you normally to the faulty sensor.
  8. Please no more pictures, I find it disturbing.........only because I haven't got one.
  9. Sorry I missed this post or would have replied. I can't quite understand how a steel cam pulley got a broken tooth? You mentioned loosening a 10mm bolt on the pulley, did you also replace the camshaft seal also then? Has this sorted all your previous issues regarding the misfiring?
  10. I seem to remember other posts regarding the rear camera failure possibly due to water ingress.
  11. Have you checked the power steering fluid level recently, that will make the noise if low, also the fact it is more apparent on slow cornering.
  12. Lexus design, car detected it was getting a bit hot inside and put the windows down Seriously no idea, I think you can press the keyfob on some models and all the windows roll down but not just 2. Nothing spilt in the window switches recently or rain water dripped in?
  13. Seem to remember reading recently that written off cars no longer require a VIC for cat C before they can be put back on the road just a fresh MOT, surely this makes it easier to ring a car. Regarding the purchase of "burnt out" cars these should be classed as Cat A and therefore crushed, never returning to the road. Apparently a lot of nasty chemicals are present in burnt out shells.
  14. So the cost to change the 6 plugs including parts and 2 hours labour is £645.00 ! Must be why I change my own on the LS.
  15. Hello and welcome to the LOC. First post tells you where it was done with the website details.
  16. When the brakes were done were the calipers checked for seizure, with new pads installed the pistons will be fully pushed back a nd they may be sticking at that point now, this is a common problem. Go for a run and then carefully feel the wheels, if one is a lot hotter this would confirm the above. Oh and welcome to the LOC.
  17. Hello and welcome to the LOC. My old GS300 was following me the other day.
  18. Spotted this the other day, looks very nice with some subtle modifications, presently at £3400! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS400-/282151896285?hash=item41b19044dd:g:kWkAAOSwv2JXwgGC
  19. Does sound weird behaviour, keep those details safe and download the camera footage to your PC. I was up at Alport Heights in Derbyshire yesterday. Not long after I had parked up a Porsche arrived and parked sideways in the parking area. Older guy who was driving and a younger passenger jumped out and then all sorts of professional looking camera equipment was taken out of the boot, young guy then sets about taking loads of photographs from various angles using I guess the surrounds for visual effects. Photographer guy then comes over and starts asking about mine, told him the details and then he asked if he could take some photos of mine, never asked him what the Porsche shoot was for but he left shortly afterwards and my car was still in the garage this morning.
  20. Good idea regarding an old mobile phone for tracking or even better an old iphone with the "find my iphone" activated, hide it well and leave permanently connected to the car's 12 volt battery, even if the thieves disconnect the car battery the phone will remain on until its internal battery dies.
  21. Sounds typical, bet you got an instant crime number though!
  22. You're quite right my mistake. There is an actual gasket. Gasket, Automatic Transaxle Oil Pan. 35168-21010 Priced around £10.00. Good price on the ATF do they have any more :)
  23. They ship to UK here http://www.ebay.com/itm/90-94-Lexus-LS400-LS-400-Mass-Air-Flow-Meter-MAF-Sensor-OEM-22204-42011-/222206731754?fits=Make%3ALexus|Model%3ALS400&hash=item33bc8da5ea:g:IJQAAOSwH3NXn3sE&vxp=mtr
  24. Normally a sump off job for the filter, never replaced mine just done the sump drain and refill. Part number ,for filter should be 35330-08010 Strainer Valve Body Oil priced around £80.00, sump gasket is special sealant. Make sure you use the correct Toyota fluid usually Type IV but check to be sure, 2x 5 litres will cost around £120.00.
