  1. I don't think you can alter the sensitivity, the dealer option for Smart entry is either on or off. http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/MY15_ES_300h_With_Display_Audio.pdf
  2. What happens when braking under 50 MPH? As above I would be looking at discs 1st but also sticking/seized callipers could have the same effect.
  3. A friend of mine had a 1998 Mercedes 300 diesel from new and in that time it had replacement wings fitted due to rusting, complete suspension replacement and various other problems. When I called in a few months ago the car was no more, apparently the suspension mounts had all rusted away and the car was scrapped.
  4. By the time you have added another £40.00 to have the ebay tyres fitted and the old ones disposed of there isn't a lot in the price difference looking at the figures plus if a problem should develop with the tyres it is far quicker to call back to KF than have to remove a tyre and return it to an ebay seller. Haggle with KF, they often have a discount for buying 2 or more tyres.
  5. Purchased a shed from Wickes which is being delivered on Friday, first they charge me £30.00 for delivery when the web page states free delivery so they refunded me for it but then decided to look at the reviews. More bad than good but it's only for the patio furniture so not unduly worried and has a 15 year guarantee but one thing mentioned by several customers was the size was actually smaller than the stated 5'x 7' on the website. Not having read these comments before I went to the local wood yard and had some 4" x 2" cut to size for the base! Should be interesting.
  6. Mine seems better on 18" rims than the 17s fitted before or it could be the tyres making the difference.
  7. There are 2 different types of sensor dependant on the month and year of manufacture, the cheapest one 01/2005 to 06/2006 is £52.53 from Amayama plus shipping and possible import tax, 07/2006 to 08/2007 are more expensive at £74.53 plus shipping and possible tax. On my parts website their is a non TMPS valve ( i.e.standard valve) shown in the parts list also which would question if the option could actually be removed?
  8. Seems a little strange, was it privately owned or business? Provided that it has been filled with the correct specification oil when serviced I wouldn't be overly concerned, some makes decide on when the oil needs replacing electronically rather than on mileage or time and modern fully sythetic oils can go longer than the old mineral types.
  9. What! Lexus cars are held together with glue, mine seems to be built properly with nuts and bolts.
  10. I remember driving one new a few years ago, cost then was £101,000! Soon they will be within my grasp
  11. Just found this, thought it was an interesting read. http://www.roadkill.com/24-hours-lemons-race-v8-powered-japanese-luxury-barge-like-fine-folks/
  12. Was a good find, the guy who sold it to you bought a TVR...... bet he's had a bit more than a starter motor in 3 years
  13. Sounds like the crankshaft oil seal has failed, with it being concealed by the belt cover it may have been seeping for some while un-noticed and has now failed completely. Risky to have continued driving it as the oil may have contaminated the cam belt as well as oil starvation, just hope there is no further engine damage as a result. I certainly wouldn't risk even cranking the engine without stripping it down and finding the cause, if the belt snaps the engine would certainly be as good as scrap.
  14. Is this the one I found for you Jim? Mine went around 3 years after I bought it but did it myself for the cost of the parts, it's the upper intake that has to come off and anything connected to it, back breaking job. Are you having a new starter for the cost or yours repaired?
  15. You may have to look through the cooling fan according to the manual I found.
  16. Did you hide the camera as they normally don't allow video recording on tourist days?
  17. White smoke on a petrol engine is normally steam, it will smell of oil as it will also contain combustion products also. Had you been doing short runs before the long trip which may have caused a build up of water in the exhaust system? I wouldn't be unduly concerned about it if the car is running OK.
  18. From what I can see the ratios are different with a 3.909:1 and 4.100:1
  19. Just out of curiosity why are you changing from 18s to 17s? I have just gone the other way with mine on the LS.
  20. As above, both Latvia and Lithuania are EU states so there are no customs charges applicable. Out of curiosity have you got all the correct PPE for hybrid battery repairs?
  21. A search of previous posts revealed this, it would appear to be normal behaviour. There is also more cases I found by googling "how to adjust diesel engine idle on a Lexus 220d"
