Hi Tom and welcome to the LOC. Looking at the fuse diagrams ( link below) there are 3 possible fuses for the camera (circled). https://fuse-box.info/lexus/lexus-ls430-xf30-2000-2006-fuses-and-relay Fusebox is in the boot/trunk.

All supermarket trollies would fail the MOT on excessive play in the steering (dangerous section 6 iii), excessive play in wheel bearings (dangerous section 4 iv) and brake efficiency below minimum standards ( more dangerous as they don’t have any section 2 (b). Customer Advice. If you get to the supermarket at this busy time of year and find there are no trollies available try looking in the local streams, rivers and canals. Hooks and ropes are available on aisle 2.

I’m surprised that as part of the theory driving test one of the subjects in the “Hazard Perception” section isn’t based in a supermarket car park. Things like an errant unsecured shopping trolley about to gain substantial momentum on the slight but significant downhill slope, a BMW ( other German marques are available) straddling 2 or more spaces, pedestrians totally unaware of the queue of cars behind them as they walk towards the store entrance, drivers completely ignoring one way instructions, give way lines and pedestrian crossings. Add in the massive queue at the connected filling station backing up onto the only access road to save 2p a litre and your supermarket experience is complete. Just popping up to my local Sainsbury’s now, with the snow they’re offering a skid control course around the little used area of the car park if they can get the driver of a single Lexus SC430 to move first.😀

Apparently forecast we here, near Alfreton, Derbyshire had nothing at 1.00 am but around 3” ( 7.5cm to younger members) dropped between then and 4.00am noticed at the loo visit. What have we got around the UK in other areas? As for the Lexus related content……..with 280 BHP, rear wheel drive and all season tyres…..it’s staying in the garage!

When were the brakes last serviced? I’ve noticed when it comes to servicing checklists the majority of actions are just that I.e. “check” so a cursory glance of the brake pads and discs to ensure they are above minimum thickness gets a tick. Rarely in my opinion do the pads get removed and the callipers, shims etc cleaned and greased as required, in addition the rear combined drums/discs are unlikely to be removed for inspection of the parking brake components, condition and adjustment. Providing nothing is binding I wouldn’t be overly concerned, a quick and easy check is to check the wheel temperature after a decent run to see if one is hotter than the opposite side either carefully by touch or using an infrared thermometer.

I’ve always thought that the type of vehicle you drive and park in a supermarket car park has a profound affect on the drivers’ of other vehicles choosing to park near to you.

Have you actually been provided with the other party’s full insurance details or just the company providing cover? I can perhaps understand an expired MOT as we tend not to opt for the yearly reminder and it can be forgotten but have you checked on the MOT history website to see when it actually expired? I would certainly be contacting your own insurer if only to notify them of the accident just to ensure that if the other party doesn’t pay up in cash or they also have no insurance your own insurer doesn’t turn around and say “under section 124 part b of your policy you are required to notify us immediately regarding any damage to your vehicle or an subsequent claim may be denied” We all know how insurance companies work when it comes to avoiding a claim!

It sounds like it rebooted. Given the car is new and therefore under warranty I would see if it does it again then bring it to the attention of your dealer at the next service or sooner if it continues.

Again this was already done when I bought it off Phil another club member, it had 99,000 KMs on import converted to the equivalent mileage.

I once did 6 Marathons in a row…….I was really sick afterwards…put me off chocolate, caramel and peanuts for life. Only members 40 years or older will get this, those under 40 Snickers to you 😀

Many years ago I was filling up my company car at a petrol station and when getting back into the car I slipped on some diesel spillage which resulted in me hitting the right side of my chest on the edge of the open door. My immediate thought was “ouch that hurt a bit how stupid of me” before getting in the car. A few days later no pain or external signs of injury. Life went on. Fast forward maybe a year or so and while out working I suddenly had trouble breathing with severe pain when doing so and difficulty talking. I was around 10 miles from home and found that by taking a deep breath and holding it the pain subsided enough to enable me to drive home. Being summer my wife at the time was outside the house as I pulled up and I asked her to phone an ambulance. Blue lighted to the hospital, checked over again, x-rayed to be told I had a Pneumothorax (collapsed lung). Not a very nice process to get it re-inflated twice after it collapsed again after a week. Even when the hospital staff asked if I had suffered any trauma injuries I said no. It was only decades later that I realised the cause was due to that slip on the diesel in that petrol station. These days my biggest concern is falling and breaking a hip or wrist.

Hi Matthew and welcome to the square numberplate club, I now have a 2004 model year Celsior having previously owned a 1994 model for 16 years. The instrument cluster was already replaced in mine on purchase from a UK spec LS430 so now reads in MPH and also I believe removes the 112 MPH speed restriction. The “Infotainment” system is the original so most of the settings for Climate control, bluetooth phone are in Japanese including of course the Sat Nav. Radio 2 on FM is the only radio station available due to the Japanese frequencies used. There is an app which allows you to take a photograph of the Japanese words which translates them into English. With you being located within ULEZ I hope you checked to make sure the car is Euro compliant (mine isn’t even though the equivalent UK model is). Pictures of mine with the Japanese style plates which are perfectly legal in the UK, I also understand that ANPR cameras cannot read them although not tried to prove this 😀. Have a look under the passenger side glovebox/footwell area on the door side for an empty hollow black plastic tube.

I was wrong! Having found the wiring diagram the tweeter and door speaker are fed separately from the amplifier as circled in the picture so no external crossover. You need to confirm the wiring continuity of the door front right speaker to the amplifier so the light green and blue wires. Difficult to tell from the diagram but check for these wires on plugs S28/29/30 pins 1 and 8. If you do have continuity you may have a channel down on the amplifier.

RC-F exhaust heat shields

I seem to remember on the LS400 the retaining nuts are 8mm so give them a good dose of penetrating fluid overnight before trying to remove them or you could snap the stud. ”Penny” washers do the job of refitting. -
Have you checked the speaker settings on the audio screen to make sure the front left and right are set in the middle on the balance control and not fully to the left speaker? The tweeter and squawker ( woofer is the bass speaker on the rear parcel shelf) are wired in parallel so chances are there is a break in the wiring between the two.

Just spotted this on fleabay, massive welding job and new rear subframe needed coupled with a very poor MOT history with same advisories year after year particularly brake issues and tyres. Also been stood for over 2 years since last MOT failure. Perhaps there’s a Mig welder included in the boot. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325878174214?hash=item4bdfda5206:g:X6IAAOSwCnxlSpM3&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4MvvIrtpvxRXQ%2F5XirtG156cXeg4JgNQPUsyPmz5biBw0WuhDZJWIp%2FMdhsWTC4NFYdUw0t3ixCXSAV0YkXl6F4jpMH2IPyo2eIsFHyoYZYx%2FJPfG32P1p1nL4Ub7UcgWXdjSfZTOo%2F7sINxcSyB1KnT4Qp%2Ff456O1wCxIaYCXb%2BtwdTcqeAiaP1Leotc4C1uOMnbCmPeyizP2qWrWp6YDF6FCRhKavNcpeL1UftSdYk72MCK6bNXQGks3%2ByCqWfwdhCf54edk%2BVUz27skuqG8sCTNgyerwtf0ZrScLpMzMd|tkp%3ABk9SR86Hi-r5Yg

Hi Malc, Yes I had a new front set on my old Celsior, think they were “Ecsta” 235/45/17s. No problems with them, good all weather grip, low noise and wore evenly. Can’t remember what mileage they did though but with my annual mileage of around 2K a year didn’t wear out.

Also bear in mind you may be subject to VAT ordering from Amayama so looking at £120.00 + £24.00, £144.00 in total. The last time I used Amayama even though they showed stock they didn’t actually have any so they cancelled the order several weeks later! I purchased a pair was from Lexus Derby many years ago and haggled the price down to £100.00 inc VAT from £120.00 so another option is to call your local dealer and see what they can do price wise. Given that the joints have no play and just damaged boots you can get replacement rubber boots from various suppliers as another option. https://www.balljointboots.co.uk

I bet 2 lollipops and a packet of Murray mints Qamar doesn’t sell it 😀 Bear in mind the chances of ever getting another one in the same condition is close to zero which you will want a week after selling it. -
Wow, you are the great Jon Evans who also designed the height sensor rod repair who I have linked to many times! I never knew you were a member on here 😀 Your background sounds similar to mine, from any early age “I’ll fix your iron Mam” to a career in electronics/television then finishing on power distribution.
