As an example of “the tap is always open and flowing” the NHS must be the prime example. The problem being is that you will never fill up the sink when the plug is missing.

You can but since the passenger tax was increased in the budget getting there will now cost you more.

Headlight washers only activate if the headlights are on and the low level washer reservoir is usually due to a waterlogged float in the sensor. There is a DIY repair somewhere on the www which involved removing the sensor, removing the float, drying it out then coating it in varnish before reassembling. Aerial is another common issue but you can just replace the mast and drive for around £15.00.

Hello and welcome to the LOC Patrick. Never saw this one come up, please tell us more about it. Unlucky with the puncture, I had one (touch wood) in 20 years of Lexus ownership but mine are space savers which look stupid and rated up to 50 MPH. I didn’t feel safe at 30 getting to the local tyre place and that was on the front.

I’m getting on a bit now but “Bonfire Night” was always the 5th of November held in celebration of the foiled plot by Guy Fawkes. If that date fell on a Sunday it was either the 4th or 6th of that month. There were also TV ads advising pet owners to keep their animals indoors on the evening to ensure they were safe and not frightened. This has now gradually extended from one night to a week and with the odd banger being let off maybe a month before. Like most things commercialism has taken over, why have just one event when you can have several. The TV ad warnings have disappeared as I doubt being advised to keep you cat indoors for a couple of weeks before and after the official date would either go down very well or be very practical. My final gripe is that fireworks i.e. gunpower i.e. an explosive substance are still available over the counter to the public and I’m pretty sure that Google or the “Dark Web” would soon provide the required information to manufacture something far more sinister than a rocket. My personal view is that this should be limited to organised professional events held only on 5/11 +/- 1 day

IS250 Water in boot
steve2006 replied to zoricib's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Nice post Meng, very informative and great pictures. I would just add it may be worth removing the rubber boot seal completely and checking the lip it fits over. The older LS400s used to suffer significant rust to the lip resulting in some sections actually rotting away. If you can catch it in time a good clean up, some rust converter and a dose of sealant on the lip before refitting the seal could prove useful in preserving the car.- 18 replies

LEXUS LBX LOST KEY
steve2006 replied to ikarian999's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
Mines does the same, I have noticed it does this if in the same pocket as my mobile phone. Spiridon have you not considered going back to the place where you lost the key, chances are it slid off the roof immediately or maybe contact the local police if they still handle lost property in Greece ( unlike the UK police now) You were lucky to get 2 keys, I mentioned this possibly happening when they only gave out one key initially. Apparently on some LBX models you can use a “Smartphone” to act as a key which would save you the €800.00 replacement cost. -
I’ve got just under 2 years to buy enough vape fluid to last me to the end of my life to avoid paying £2.20 a bottle “vape duty”

It sounds like your doing everything correctly so let the dealer sort it. Please let us know how it turns out. -
Tailgate won’t open and lift

Hello Colin and welcome to the LOC. You say this was a recent purchase, was it from a dealer or private seller? If the former contact the dealer and ask them to take a look at it under your Consumer Rights. -
ISF Pricing 2024?
steve2006 replied to MarcusHarding's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
My Celsior is taxed by the old system so just 2 bands under and over 1500cc so cheaper than a UK spec LS430. Downside is it isn’t Ulez compliant but having no plans to drive to London or any other charge city that’s not a problem -
That would suggest that yours is only 8% efficient or less then? So 16% would be a pass and possibly an advisory like I once received, below 16% it then becomes a minor defect fail and then a major defect fail below 8%. Confused.com
-
That’s weird because the MOT requirements are quoted as “In the UK, a vehicle's parking brake, also known as the handbrake, must have an efficiency of at least 16% to pass an MOT test. This means the brake must be effective enough to keep the vehicle stationary on an incline.”
-
I’d like to know how you apply a force of “147 N ( 15 kdf, 33 lbf)” whilst driving the car? Perhaps there is a Lexus “Special tool” available for measuring this at a cost of more than the car is worth.
-
I once had an advisory for the 1994 Celsior with parking brake efficiency only just met, strangely he used to test the car as a LS430. I didn’t replace the brake shoes but merely roughened them up with some course sand paper and same with the inner drum surface. Then followed the same adjustment procedure. The pedal travelled half the prior distance and locked on the brakes. Never got another mention on following tests

In that case I wouldn’t bother trying to find a mechanic to “take it on” I would be calling the dealer and no one else, if someone else takes a look first the dealer then has a defence “ You’ve invalidated your warranty by letting a third party look at the car” Get onto the dealer, explain the situation in simple terms, i.e car won’t start and then ask how they would like to proceed in other words come and collect it. They have one chance to repair then refund.

A friend of mine has just purchased. 2019 Lamborghini Urus from a dealer and as part of the deal insisted that the 2 front tyres were replaced with new ones. The tyres are 325/30/23 (I didn’t even know they made 23” wheels and the rims are bigger than my 18” wheels and tyres fitted to the Celsior!). Pirelli P-Zero at £700.00 odd each were fitted and then he was told that as there was no Lamborghini stamp on them it could invalidate his warranty! Apparently tyre manufacturers’ design tyres specifically for the brand. On this occasion I suspect that the 2 part worn tyres removed won’t find their way onto another Lambo 😀
-
Nice write up Linas. Used tyres are a risk, a risk I personally wouldn’t take. Visual inspection of used tyres will not easily reveal defects when off the rim. The only thing you can check on a used tyre is the manufacturing date.

Mine has been on my Celsior/LS430 for over 20 years and has never let in water. Really says it all about the demise both of the quality of parts and quality control these days. -
I’m thinking you mean the windscreen mounted interior rear view mirror? If you can see it wobbling in your wing mirror it needs some serious readjustment 😀 Have you tried putting the blind up when the car is parked up and then moving it by hand to see if you can locate any loose mountings as Mark suggests?
