RX400h won't start
steve2006 replied to Imackie61's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
As above, first suspect is the auxiliary 12 Volt battery, Lexus dealer prices are quite competitive and they will provide a fitting service on request while you enjoy the complementary hospitality in reception -
Hello and welcome to the LOC. Not sure about MPG question but could be due to winter temperatures but for the wet windscreen and poor heating check the cabin pollen filter. This item tends to get overlooked becomes completely choked then affects air flow which in turn reduce the drying effect of the AC and the mixing of warm and cold air that comes out of the vents.

Few issues

For alarm fob casing look on ebay. Radio illumination ( you should also have no illumination on the climate control), there are 2 resistors inside the unit that need resoldering. If you struggle locally for someone to do it PM me as I have done these for other members. Heated seats...see Malc's reply above. Switch illumination is usually the bulb inside, can be replaced but fiddly. Boot seal leaking look at the link, used successfully by other members. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS400-1990-2000-Rubber-Boot-Seal-fits-Mark-1-2-3-and-4-/290999253170?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item43c0e838b2&utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks&clk_rvr_id=1149655310738&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F710-53481-19255-0%2F1%3Ftype%3D4%26campid%3D5336640300%26toolid%3D10001%26afsrc%3D1%26customid%3D2061X563690X3164f36847e689bfe9b35781352ff85a%26mpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.co.uk%252Fitm%252FLexus-LS400-1990-2000-Rubber-Boot-Seal-fits-Mark-1-2-3-and-4-%252F290999253170%253Fpt%253DUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM%2526fits%253DCar%252BMake%25253ALexus%2526hash%253Ditem43c0e838b2%2526utm_source%253DLexusOwnersClubUK%2526utm_medium%253DForumLinks%26srcrot%3D710-53481-19255-0%26rvr_id%3D1149655310738&ul_noapp=true The nuts on the door panels are I think 10mm domed but if the threads have gone little point in replacing them, rest of panel is fixed with double sided tape. -
It took me ages to work out how to attach files to emails on the ipad when it was just keep your finger on the cursor and wait for the options to appear then select.

Returning to Lexus!
steve2006 replied to nwc100's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Welcome back to the fold, Good choice with the IS250, needs to be top drawer as you say at that price, have you done an MOT history check to check for pending problems from any advisories and to confirm mileage? If you can post a link up to the car we can take a look and it may be known by another member, I promise I won't step in and buy it. I think there may be a buying guide somewhere on the forums too. Good luck with your search to find the one for you. -
Hi Kyle, welcome to the LOC and a Happy New Year. Plenty of information, advice and friendly members on here so feel free to ask away. What we really need to see is a few pictures of your car sitting nice and warm on a Caribbean island in January whilst most of us are scraping the ice off the windows here in the U.K.

Hello Pani and welcome to the LOC. Have a look at the link below for warranty details although this is for the UK and normally requires a full Lexus Service History and an annual Hybrid health check. http://www.lexus.com/warranty HYBRID VEHICLE SYSTEM Hybrid System Warranty coverage is for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first, and covers the following components: hybrid control module, hybrid battery control module, hybrid battery and inverter with converter. See your Lexus dealer for complete details on the Lexus Powertrain Warranty. Do you have Lexus dealers in Larnaca and Pafos? By coincidence we have just returned to the UK after spending a month in Kapparis and I only saw one Lexus IS200 whilst there. BMW X5 and Mercedes seem to be the cars to have in Cyprus.

Same here, I now record all commercial TV station programmes on my DVR and then begin to watch them 15 minutes later ensuring I can skip all the ads and sponsorship bits.

Newbie Saying Hi
steve2006 replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Hello Paul, welcome to the LOC and thanks for your support by joining as a Gold member. The ISF forum has certainly livened up over the last few weeks, with your arrival they're even coming out of the woodwork -
Strange way to encourage customers to insure their cars with them but "Confused.cm" has an old Mercedes swerving to avoid a piano as the driver is not paying full attention to the road ahead which then spins out of control before sliding into a parking space and now we have Aviva with a lunatic taxi driver. Would be interesting to see how they handle a claim when one of their customers tries the same stunt "as seen on TV" and writes their car off. I think I'll be avoiding supermarket and McDonalds car parks more than I usually do!

East Mids members - who do you use for servicing, parts etc.
steve2006 replied to Glover's topic in Lexus General Discussions
We're a bit thin on the ground around here. I do all my own servicing so don't use dealers, the only time my LS sees a garage is once a year for an MOT. I prefer OEM parts so that's why I use Lexus Derby but with my low annual mileage being < 3000 this is now an annual trip for filters etc. -
That looks like a very good quote although completing the job in 3 hours is a bit optimistic, I would double that. I wonder if they used Autodata for the time quote as this is the same time my local garage quoted which ended up being over a day once started. For the London area the labour rate including VAT is also good. The quote mentions a "cam belt kit" so this normally includes the idler and tensioner pulleys, the tensioner itself rarely fails so can be recompressed and reused after checking. OEM parts are normally Aisin so would be interested in what they use however 18 months warranty is OK. Once they discover the true time of doing the job I hope they don't invoke the "we've found more problems" clause to push up the price.

Yep, still have it and yours if you want it. Send me a PM for contact details.

steve2006 replied to Glover's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I use Lexus Derby for spare parts only, I get around a 10% discount on spares but sometimes more if I haggle. Staff all friendly with the usual coffee and snacks when waiting in reception, plenty of parking on site. Lexus Birmingham list some spares and accessories for the older models on eBay usually with decent discounts. -
Cheers Mike and the same to you.

KEY FOB
steve2006 replied to runsgrateasanut's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
From what I remember you cannot strip this type down any further, the aerial wire is soldered directly to the key blade which in turn is mounded to the casing. A word of warning....do not let the push button flick out of the housing as it is spring loaded and will take off like a rocket...it took me 3 days searching on my driveway to find mine! The pick up for the fob is around the back window area and range of operation is affected by ice and water in this area so this may be your problem. -
Hello Ian,welcome to the LOC and a Happy New Lexus Year to you. I've had my JDM LS400 for 11 years in January and wouldn't swop it for anything else, been tempted a few times to get one a little newer but when you see the condition and mileage of some on sale I'm quite happy to carry on with the one I have. Feel free to post up a picture or 2 of your new car.

Is200 Blowing Cold Air Passenger Side
steve2006 replied to istanbul05's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
If it is dual zone it could be one of the flaps which control airflow under the dash.
