The sensor valves cost around £170.00 each so I would stick to replacing just the leaking one additionally the new one will need programming to the system using a compatible Toyota scan tool or if you move the wheels around. Part number should be 42607-50010 up to 2008 and 50011 after. www.amayama.com have them in stock from Japan for £73.42 plus shipping and possible duty if you put the above part number in and can wait a week for it.

head gasket engine Lexus is220d head gasket symptoms?
steve2006 replied to elvis20002's topic in Engine & Transmission
Hello Elvis and welcome to the LOC, your english is much better than my Russian. With the coolant loss there is a good chance that engine damage has happened due to overheating. Either get the sniff test done as suggested or have the cylinder compressions measured but given your symptoms I would strongly suspect Head Gasket failure. -
A new quality serpentine belt is around £20.00, the tensioner and idler pulleys have DIY replaceable bearings costing a couple of pounds each for Japanese ones. Removing and refitting the belt takes just a few minutes, not sure about all models but mine has the belt routing diagram shown on a sticker attached to the underside front of the bonnet or just google it. If you are really struggling I would be happy to supply and fit one for £100.00 including new pulley bearings and no VAT :)

As the RX was produced with both types of suspension systems the parts are all available to convert to springs if needed. If you do decide to change over I have the parts lists for all the required parts, as you mention top mounts etc will be required as these are integrated into the air setup, should you need a copy pm me your email and I will send over the exploded parts list.

For those DIY'ers

It looks fine on the 3rd picture, reminds me of that Churchill advert with the car crushed into a block. -
Rear quarter scratch

Personally I wouldn't recommend going through your insurers, you will immediately lose any NCD you have, your premiums will increase and with the excess added in you may as well get it repaired yourself. Search out some local body shops and get a few quotes, I have an excellent old skool one near to me but a bit of a drive from Leicestershire. -
RX 400h Steering Wander
steve2006 replied to phil m's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
If my information is correct the later RX400 uses an electrically powered steering system as opposed to the conventional hydraulic system, being electric this no doubt is controlled by an ECU, various sensors and will be speed sensitive. A fault within the system should throw up the warning light but it may be worth enquiring with Lexus if there have been any software updates regarding the issue you are having as you seem to have covered all the possible mechanic causes. My brother was recently looking at Fiat Uno and we noticed it pulled to the left, a bit of googling revealed that as the car is normally built as a left hand drive the steering geometry is set for that which would be fine for a car driven on the right of the road but not on the left side as in the UK. -

I think it may be more to do with the strong price of the Japanese Yen than the euro. -
is220d wipers not returning to parkposition when switched off
steve2006 replied to Dicey 82's topic in New Members Area
Hello and welcome to the LOC. I would second the motor problem, normally inside the gear box there is a park switch which detects the position of the wiper arms then cuts the power when they are fully down (parked). This switch can become stuck with hardened grease preventing it operating so the wipers don't know where to stop. Access looks fairly easy especially as you have already had the wiper arm spindles off, so remove the scuttle panels to get to the mechanism. If you would like an exploded diagram to assist with the repair feel free to send me your email by PM. A replacement motor is retailing around €280.00 but hopefully won't be required. For the audio problem all I can suggest is try another source of music and make sure aux input is selected. I assume you have bought the car privately so have no dealer warranty? -
I doubt it as it sounds more mechanical than electrical, thinks to check are the fluid level and condition then the solenoid valves as these can become sticky in operation. Anything else and you would need an auto transmission specialist.

Hello Frank, Is everything OK?

To establish the year of manufacture you need to locate the VIN plate and look at the 10th digit, this will give you the year the car was made. Step 5: Find out the year of manufacture. The tenth number indicates the year the car was made, or the year of manufacture. It begins with A for 1980, the first year a standard 17-digit VIN was used. Subsequent years follow the alphabet of to “Y” in the year 2000. In 2001, the year changes to the number “1”, and ascends to “9” In 2009. In 2010, the alphabet starts again with the letter “A” for 2010 model years. In the same VIN example “5XXGN4A70CG022862,” the “C” indicates the vehicle was manufactured in 2012.

Sounds like a lot of different people have tried and failed to sort this car and you are now in a position where you have no idea what has been done and need to throw money at it with no guarantees. ( Why did you pay the "chip tuner" £250.00 for not doing the job he said he could do especially when if I remember Lexus ECUs cannot go reflashed). The only thing you haven't mentioned is the boost pressure sensor which may be faulty hence the lack of turbo input.

The LS430 was designed so the footwell airflow to the driver's side is restricted, it can be adjusted but is a dealer only option. The reason behind this is to prevent LS430 drivers becoming too comfortable whilst driving their vehicles in winter, this had in the past led to owners leaving the house in their slippers, subsequently not having full control of their vehicles due to the slippers and looking completely stupid when arriving at work.
