  1. Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me! The "Heavy Duty Spring Compressors" didn't fit the springs as they are "larger than normal springs" so I have sent them back at a cost of £3.00. The next day dispatch for the springs didn't happen and according to tracking are due to arrive today but my local garage is now closed so cannot get them fitted until at least Monday. The timing belt is still in the box in the boot. As for my other LS400 it's service time so ordered all I need without stepping out of the door including a set of 8 NGK iridium for £60.00 delivered to my door. The grass has grown again.....lawnmower time me thinks!
  2. £20.00 for delivery as well! Is this for chauffeur limo delivery ?
  3. You mean that non servo electronic type brake booster......noooooooooooo!
  4. I have never seen a thread go so far off topic it became a geography lesson So this LS430 you have driven and placed a deposit on any further news or could you recommend a decent Cornish Pasty?
  5. Apparently the worlds most expensive coffee has been previously eaten in bean form by Civit cat before being ejected, cleaned and then ground. This coffee is then marketed as Lexus Reception Area Coffee at a cost of £659.66 per cup
  6. What tends to happen is the front seats once set up stay in the same position for years but then a new owner may readjust them to suit, suddenly all those wires, plugs and sockets have to move leading to possible electrical connection problems and the light comes on.
  7. Did the airbag light by any chance come on after you adjusted the driver's seat position?
  8. The part is the same for all 89-October 94 models, true the callipers were different but the mounting bracket is exactly the same.
  9. I'm a little confused here Ollie as you say your car is a 1995 model but the UCF10 suggests it is not. To confirm could you tell me if the gear selector just moves backwards and forwards with no sideways movements and it has an overdrive select switch mounted on the right side of the shift lever? If your car is a UCF10 this car will have the correct part you require. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS400-1UZFE-V8-1991-COMPLETE-CAR-BREAKING-ALLOYS-ENGINE-SWAP-DRIFT-/302262613554?hash=item4660417632:g:zakAAOSwOyJX9O6C You could also try and drill a hole in the blind side of the carrier bracket, use a punch/drift to knock out the seized pin then tap the hole and fit a small bolt to reseal it.
  10. I would check wheel balance, all front suspension joints for excessive play, transmission mount, propshaft joints and balance.
  11. Good point Phil, if you are planning on re use then a "pickle fork" will certain write the rubber cover off and the joint!
  12. A very good price all in, retailing for around £180.00 here in the U.K. the pulley costs more here than what you paid for the pump. Did you also order the gasket or are you using RTV?
  13. Mark I will certainly heed your advice when compressing the springs and make sure the possible trajectory is not towards me, even removing the other one I was very careful not to mishandle it during removal just in case the broken bit took off or moved. Mike not sure if this was already done when I received the car as the last owner delivered it, I didn't notice any problems on a test drive but looking at the breaks they are very rusty so appear long term.
  14. You were very fortunate! There are usually some warning signs like suspension knocking or a failed MOT for excessive play/boot damage. Genuine replacements were around £120.00 the pair a few years ago, once you get in there can you report back if it was a genuine part or a copy and perhaps a picture or two please.
  15. Thanks for the kind offer Mark, I have already ordered a set off fleabay which I hope are up to the job.
  16. Having delayed the project series IV LS400 cam belt job due to lawn mowing operations last weekend (not my idea but coerced.....no bullied) I decided to make a start today but then thought I would put my spare alloys on first. A relatively simple job involving trolley jack and some basic tools. Rears went great but I had noticed that the front end looked a bit low, so low in fact that said trolley jack wouldn't even go under the car. Undeterred I started off with the scissor jack and then got the trolley under for safety plus an axle stand. Once the wheel was off it became immediately obvious why the car was so low....the spring was in 3 pieces but more was to follow the other side was in 2 pieces. So yet again no cam belt, 2 new springs on order along with a spring compressor tool to do the job and the car now sitting on axle stands both sides. The joys of motoring or in my case going nowhere fast.
  17. Your point 2 suggestion makes me smile, so they would obtain another vehicle with the correct head unit and put this part in yours then do what? Put the defective one in the donor car and hope the new owner of that fails to notice the same problem? Also makes me wonder why your vehicle was used as a donor for another faulty ML unit.
  18. Hi Andy, welcome to the LOC and supporting the club as a gold member. If you can find a good working OEM system you could install this but it would be dependant on whether the last owner chopped the original wiring or used adaptor cables. If you have a local auto electrician it may be worth asking if they can sort out what you already have or advise on refitting an original set up. Also bear in mind the OEM system will probably not have bluetooth if you wish to use this source.
  19. Sounds like a method of recovering an extra £90.00 to me !!!!!
  20. The only "fun" I find these days on the road is the acceleration up to the speed limit so a slow roll up to 70 on a clear motorway slip road occasionally and the sticker below in the rear window.
  21. Only gold members may offer to sell Citroens on the LOC forums, I've a good mind to give you a French warning point Chris for this suggestive post . Must admit they are good cars I had J reg I think 2 litre version, fully galvanised body but the suspension was a load of spheres as Citroen called them.
  22. Hello and welcome to the LOC. There are many members on the LOC who own and have had no problems with the 220d and equally there are some who have had major problems with them for the reasons you mention and a few more besides. This was the one and only diesel engined Lexus produced apart from the IS200d and there have been no further diesel models so ask yourself why? OK Lexus have taken the hybrid route but not continued with diesels. The IS250 is well respected and appears to meet the reliability and expectations of the Lexus brand and I understand the fuel consumption is on par with the 220d. Also bear in mind all diesel vehicles are fitted with DPFs which if not treated correctly are costly to replace so if you are using the car for only local commuting this is another factor to consider.
  23. Unfortunately intermittent faults can be tricky to diagnose so it may be a case of wait until the problem becomes more permanent.
