  1. There is a good chance that one or more of the caliper slider pins have seized which can result in strange noises. I doubt very much if a KF "mechanic" would even check these when fitting new discs and pads let alone ensure they are free to move so would start there. If the brakes are not right take the car back and ask them to sort it without further cost to yourself, they must have some sort of warranty.
  2. Around £35.00 from Lexus dealers if not available from aftermarket sources.
  3. Plus the AC compressor, my cooling fan is slightly different in that it is driven hydraulically.
  4. That's it Denis, I've always called them "fan belts" as well. Link is for the correct fan belt for the LS400. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Gates-Drive-Belt-Fan-Alternator-Rib-Belt-6PK2228-/311694926081?hash=item4892772101:g:t6oAAOSwFqJWti3z
  5. Wow £250.00 for a car battery! Wouldn't like to think what Lexus would charge to supply and fit.
  6. All model years from 90 to 97 are the same belt, not sure if the 98-00 are also the same though.
  7. I would think due to the additional risk of fire and explosion should the system develop a leak below ground level and the lack of access (low roof) for emergency vehicles to attend if needed. I understand that LPG vehicles are also banned from Eurostar for similar reasons.
  8. I bought one the other week a Gates branded one for £14.00 delivered, type was 6PK2260 but for some reason it didn't fit (was too tight to get over the tensioner pulley even when pulled back fully). The Celsior one seems to be longer than the LS400 as the Lexus sizes seem to vary between 2225mm and 2240mm in length dependant on the seller. I have now ordered 2270mm one to try for mine. Regards the belt routing there should be a diagram on the underside of the front edge of the bonnet.
  9. The fact that the engine runs fine from cold and then has problems after 10 minutes would suggest something is breaking down when it has warmed up. Given the timescale, symptoms and fault codes I would be looking at all the O2 sensor outputs as these are susceptible to thermal effects but I would also check the signal output from the CPS as this is another part that can be affected by heat and vibration. You really need the correct diagnostic equipment that will show live data from these sensors to confirm they are working or not.
  10. Plus if the owner's manual figures are the "official" government ones you will get nowhere near those in real life driving.
  11. I thought the same regarding the 2 different cars, I do know what wrapping is though...it's a type of music.
  12. Hello Jamie and welcome to the LOC. Nice colour and the wheels go well with it.
  13. I would at least be looking for either a free replacement or a full refund.
  14. Here is the engine but what is the car model I would chose if they were still made new?
  15. Part numbers for Y section are the same, the middle and rears differ but look exactly the same on the exploded diagrams. When you say yours has rotted away do you mean the cat flanges and Y section as the rest should be stainless steel?
  16. I do exactly the same with mine and never had a seized pin yet, the RRB is better if the sliders have the rubber bushes as it does not damage them and I find copper grease in there dries out quickly. I do also thinly smear the pad backs and anti rattle shims with copper grease although mine shims are stainless steel.
  17. If Lexus ever do a BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free) offer can I please have the "free" one
  18. Hello and welcome to the LOC, The dreaded seized slider pins...once you have replaced them make it part of your brake maintainance to pull them and re grease, I have moved over to using red rubber grease now from copper grease and it seems to work fine in keeping things moving.
  19. Part number for the blade is 85214-10100 priced around £12.00. Interestingly the wiper arm retaining bolt is also listed at around 90 pence (90179-06205) which would suggest that you remove the arm from the motor spindle in order to replace the blade instead of removing other components like the spoiler. Obviously make a note of the arm position to ensure it goes back in the exact same place.
  20. I would say so, the business details list Toyota GB as the seller and I don't think Toyota would have let things continue this long if this was a non genuine seller. Feedback is also very good. Part number adds up also, these will be old shelf stock. You also have a money back guarantee if not as described.
  21. What symptoms do you have that makes you think the HG has failed? Have you done a compression test, are you loosing coolant, steam from the exhaust?
  22. Just done mine for the second time as the first replacement mast lasted only a month before the drive pulled out of the mast, the seller sent me another one FOC. What I did was remove the toothed drive as you did by stripping down the motor gearbox but instead of following the instructions on LexLS to manually wind in the new drive I got hold of 2 spade tags and a bits of wire on the motor and then used a spare car battery to wind the new drive into the gearbox which gave me more control. Popped it back in position and all working fine again.
  23. I'm surprised a 5/21W dual filament bulb fitted the holder as the locking prongs are displaced but they can be forced in I guess. Cheers for the wire explanation Phil, that makes good sense.
  24. The upper red section is tail light only on mine and the bottom section brake light only, is the bottom section bulb a single or twin filament on yours?
